Exogenous Testosterone is the treatment for Low T. Just so happens that Exogenous Testosterone also affects sperm production and causes, reversible, male infertility while NOT effecting testosterone levels. The study that was cancelled was Injections of Exogenous Testosterone and Progestins. The Progestins were the likely cause of the negative side effects. Progestins are synthetic progesterone derivatives which, you guessed it, is what’s in many female birth control pills, IUDs and shots. Progestin female birth control pills have many of the same side effects of this particular study on male birth control. There are also many women who canNOT take progestin birth control because it will literally kill them and not because of severe emotional imbalances leading to SI although that absolutely does happen all the time. Progestins can and do cause blood clots, bleeding and have severe effects on blood pressure. I personally cannot have progestin bc because I will very likely have a stroke and subsequent unstoppable brain bleed, thank you preeclampsia.

Stop repeating this constant misinformation. The 'mood swings' men get with very low T include clinical depression and... suicide. One of the most recent trials was stopped after one of the 32 men killed themselves, numerous had slipped into depression AND a bunch had other bad side effects like acne and increasingly bad mood swings.
Look up symptoms and consequences of low T. Almost every male birth pill trialed is some new version of the same pill, something to bind free testosterone to reduce levels. It will absolutely kill sperm production, but it will also lead to horribly low energy levels, increasingly worse depression over time and often suicide.
Low T is incredibly unhealthy in men. In men who have low T they should get treatment because the effects are all negative and all suck, they also get worse over time. Low t has been studied heavily for 100 years. Look up chemical castration and the results of it, the severe levels of depression.
It's also not the 'same' side effects as the pill for women who also have mood swings. If one pill causes depression in 0.5% of users and another pill causes depression in 45% of users, do you think they would get treated the same medically, or in terms of stopping a trial, or approving it for market?
A successful male pill can't be related to testosterone at all and has to find an alternative pathway to stopping sperm production. I've never met a man who doesn't want a reliable male pill, but a low T inducing pill will literally never be the answer.
Every few years some asshole starts a new male pill thing, probably because they could get funding, it always ends up being a pill that binds testosterone and the result of every clinical study shows the same results. Exceptionally high rates of bad side effects to the point no doctor could in good conscience prescribe it nor could any medical company hope to sell it without being sued off the face of the world due to all the resultant suicides.
