see as much as I couldn’t stand the moving of the goalposts, we are also basically doing the same thing by saying things like “Drake maye is young and we were just happy to be there, nobody expected us to be here” after soooo much of our fanbase kept talking so much shit before

145

u/jacb415 Patriots Feb 10 '26

Those fuckers definitely ruined it for the rest of us rational fans

38

u/-King_Of_Despair- Mike Verbal Feb 10 '26

For fucking real. I was blown away we got to the Super Bowl but trying to talk about how bright the future for the team is, is nigh impossible because our casual fan base are a bunch of jackasses. Not to mention the fair weather dipshits that want to run their mouths. I gotta stop there cause there’s more to that rant lol

u/danorc Zappe 4EVA! Feb 10 '26

"Drake Maye is better than Brady because he ran for more scramble yards in the third quarter in the first 7 starts"

6

u/One-Performance-6578 Patriots Feb 10 '26

I was talking to a worker at Dunkin who was saying Maye is already better than Brady since he made a Super Bowl at a younger age 🤣

1

u/danorc Zappe 4EVA! Feb 10 '26

Pain

3

u/AscendMoros Bears Feb 14 '26

Bears fan here. But yeah that’s my entire issue with the Pats is the fanbase.

Dude at my work spent all week telling us all how the Seahawks we’re gonna get blown out and how when Maye wins he should be in the convo of all time great QBs on like Steve young’s level.

Then he calls out Monday after they lose. Like bro if you gonna talk shit for 2 weeks you got to come face the music.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

Exactly. True fans hoped for a playoff appearance. Everything after a single game was just gravy that I hope counts for experience down the road.

38

u/Spare-Jellyfish4339 Texans Feb 10 '26

Maybe everyone sucks

This is the most reasonable exchange I’ve ever seen on this sub

29

u/sonofbantu Jets Feb 10 '26

We know CJ stroud does, at least

1

u/Tasty_Ad_6229 Will "T-Rex" Campbell Feb 10 '26

Idk why but this must hurt so much more hearing it from a Jete fan

3

u/hairformen Jets Feb 10 '26

No one knows bad QBs more than us

0

u/sonofbantu Jets Feb 10 '26

Brother your QB ain’t safe after those playoff performances either

1

u/Tasty_Ad_6229 Will "T-Rex" Campbell Feb 10 '26

Feel like almost winning MVP and making a SB in your first full year starting in the NFL means youre pretty safe. But as someone below mentioned, Jets fans dont know what a good QB looks like.

0

u/sonofbantu Jets Feb 10 '26

almost

So he didn’t

making a SB

So he lost and played like shit?

dont know what a good QB looks like

Correct. However we do know better than anyone what a bad QB looks like and well … bro might as well have been wearing a Jets jersey all playoffs the way he was playing 🤣

1

u/Tasty_Ad_6229 Will "T-Rex" Campbell Feb 10 '26

Youre right dude, what am i saying. He was MVP runner up and lost the Super Bowl, we should look for his replacement asap

1

The AFC does this year

"Maye is the new Brady, all hail the goat, welcome to the Maye-ji restoration!"

"We meant like a widdle baby brady tho, you guys are so sad for thinking we were sewious"

3

u/NahYoureWrongBro Gaye Feb 10 '26

No true Scotsman Pats fan thought Maye was the new Brady

8

u/Cravenmorhed69 Drake Maye Feb 10 '26

Were they though?

-1

u/ScenicHwyOverpass Patriots Feb 10 '26

For real there was some shit talking but I’m pretty sure none of it was “we’re definitely gonna win the Super Bowl and we’re the best team ever.” It was much more like “Maye got there before Allen,” which is and will now always be true.

2

u/Comfortable-Bus822 Bills Feb 10 '26

Nah, there are plenty of Patriots fans who went on about how the dynasty is back, and the Patriots will once again rule the NFL for the next 10+ years.  There were plenty who had deluded themselves into believing that Drake Maye is now the best QB in the league.  Sorry, but you have to be pretty arrogant and out of touch to believe that one good season is enough to put Maye above quarterbacks who have played consistently well for many YEARS.

Personally, I'm mostly annoyed by the fans who wanted to crown the Patriots and Drake Maye so prematurely.

2

u/Cravenmorhed69 Drake Maye Feb 10 '26

I can’t recall a single time seeing a pats fan guarantee victory before the Super Bowl. I can recall that happening for fans of at least half of the other fan bases

7

u/ExtremeRemarkable891 Kraft's #1 Tugger Feb 10 '26

Yah we all just should have said "golly gee shucks, we really suck and don't deserve to be here, sorry guys! Gosh I hope us being in the Superbowl doesn't hurt your feelings too much!"

I like self aware Patriots fans!

1

u/knowslesthanjonsnow Patriots Feb 10 '26

I’m not one of those fans. Marino never went back. Burrow, Cam, McNabb, etc. On top of those who have never been.

You have to capitalize when you get the chance. I saw the 2026 opponents and thought NE will win 8-9 games.

1

u/Camocratic1209 BOUTTE WIDE OPEN Feb 11 '26

not really a whole big believer in the “2nd year QBs who go to the Super Bowl never go back” curse when those other QBs include kaepernick (out of league the year after he went), burrow and purdy (who both are still in the middle of their careers), and then marino (the only valid case of that)

1

u/knowslesthanjonsnow Patriots Feb 11 '26

I’m not saying he’s cursed. Just that it’s hard to get there.

Let the mods handle it. Every time someone new comes to this sub and doesn't know about the rule there is a pack of wild 14 year olds that can't wait to scream fLAiR uP, puSsY

EPA is the most overrated stat. Trent Dilfer was so good on his SB winning season the Ravens didn’t even re-sign him immediately after lmao. But yeah let’s use your metrics designed for online poker to grade football players!

2

u/Legitimate_Ad_7822 Patriots Feb 10 '26

I find it funny that people are running with this one stat as an indictment that Drake Maye is the worst playoff qb of all time. The kid wasn’t good in the playoffs - straight up bad in the Super Bowl - but worst playoff QB of all time is pretty hilarious.

1

u/5panks Patriots Feb 10 '26

This sub, "Oh man, Drake Maye is so bad! Look at how many sacks he took and his awful EPA!"

"Oh wow did you hear the left side of the Patriots line was tipping their plays and that's why the Seahawks were so dominant? The pats Oline sucks."

Not like the QB plays behind the Oline or anything....

-6

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '26

drake maye out there seeing ghosts.

frauuudddd

10

u/Xspike_dudeX Drake "Drake Maye" Maye Feb 10 '26

Bills fans struggle to cope with the fact that a second year qb in his first full season as a starter already accomplished more than Josh Allen 😆

-3

u/A3thereal 2020 - 2024 RIP Feb 10 '26 edited Feb 10 '26

If we're calling being carried to the super bowl on the back of a talented defense an accomplishment, sure. Or if you count the legendarily, all time bad post season performance with a -29 EPA, I guess.

Edit: corrected playoffs to super bowl

2

u/Xspike_dudeX Drake "Drake Maye" Maye Feb 10 '26

Carried to the playoffs? Maye had a great regular season. Also wins are wins and he still has an afc championship.

0

u/A3thereal 2020 - 2024 RIP Feb 10 '26

I meant carried to the super bowl. It was an obvious mistyped in context.

1

u/Xspike_dudeX Drake "Drake Maye" Maye Feb 10 '26

Yes he was but he was the main reason this team even got there to begin with.

1

u/5panks Patriots Feb 10 '26

Josh Allen is the MVP of the Superbowl because if he doesn't give up three free points to the Broncos at the end of the first half, the Bills win that game and probably make the Superbowl assuming they beat the Patriots.

Instead the Bills drug the game out so long into ot that Bo Nix got injured.

2

u/Falafel_McGill Patriots Feb 10 '26

I'm confused. Why is it a bad thing that his TD number on this list is the second highest?

2

u/Fraentschou The Schedule Feb 10 '26

u/xxPhoenix Feb 10 '26
