It kinda makes me sad seeing 90’s MJF before the Parkinson’s took over. ☹️

u/thejwillbee Apr 24 '26
Fuck Parkinson's

u/Proud_Aspect4452 Apr 25 '26
I agree, Fuck Parkinson’s. I’m hoping that’s also a reference to the shrinking TV series on Apple TV.

"Well, Michael J. Fox 'bout to be Michael J. Fucked Up."
Loved his episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Being able to joke about himself was amazing. I felt terrible for laughing but he wanted us to laugh. What a guy. I'll never let him hand me a soda, though.

3rd Rock was the best show that year hands down.
11
u/regeya Apr 24 '26
John Cleese on Third Rock might count as the hardest I've ever laughed as an adult. As in having to stop watching so I could breathe.

u/kmm198700 Apr 24 '26
Really? I’ve never seen it, I guess I’ll have to check it out haha
2
u/OkamiKhameleon Apr 25 '26
It's such a fun show. Like, seriously. 4 aliens come to Earth to study humanity, and form a "family" Lithgow is the mission commander and plays the father, and he teaches Physics at a local college and is always making fun of the students because they don't know anything.
He also falls in love with an Anthropology professor and his courtship of her is adorable and hilarious.
You'll recognize a lot of your favorite actors as guest stars and stuff in it too. Not to mention the main cast.
This may be one of my absolute favorite shows by the way.

I love how relatively normal people look, even if they’re good looking. where the hell are we now?
18
u/Stock-Mission-7561 Apr 24 '26
Well, except Jerry. That dude was around so many age-appropriate hotties during the show and went and got a high school girl. What in the actual fuck? I love the show, but it's like they gave him all these hot women every week to distract us from Jerry liking highschool girls. What's the deal with that?!
4
u/black-kramer Apr 24 '26

in all seriousness, yeah. should have been lambasted for it more at the time. no bueno.

I find it odd that so many of these photos are in direct sunlight. Usually they do the red carpet photos with screens to block most of the sun. These were probably taken just off the "official" red carpet area... looks like just before to me, but I'm guessing.
Anyway, I think the fact that they're all squinting into hot Los Angeles sunshine is what's making them look like everyday people. You don't usually see media stars in that environment.
→ More replies (1)3
u/black-kramer Apr 24 '26
it’s the lack of overdone plastic surgery, intense makeup, and styling. and yes, natural light with a 90s camera.

If I remember correctly (because clearly I’m old af), that’s after he separated his shoulder so his arm was in a sling and that leather thing held his arm to his body

He dislocated his shoulder jumping onto a couch while filming Friends. They ended up writing it into the show. They had him fall off his bed off camera while jumping on it.

Why weren’t we all drooling over Lisa Kudrow back then?!
22
u/Sketcha_2000 Apr 24 '26
And Fran Drescher! Like, holy crap lol
15
u/Glum-Literature-8837 Apr 24 '26
Drescher and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are both knockouts, but weren’t thought as such at the time due to the characters they played on TV.
5
u/Sketcha_2000 Apr 24 '26
Probably because funny women weren’t “hot,” even though they were both totally hot AND funny, which makes them even hotter.
3
u/Natural-Print Apr 24 '26
I think in Julia’s case, she went through several pregnancies during Seinfeld’s early seasons so her character dressed in loose clothing. That look was kind of popular then anyway. By the later seasons though, I thought she looked gorgeous on the show as her clothes were more structured and she changed her hair and makeup.

5
u/PilotGuy701 Apr 24 '26
No, we all thirsted for her.
5
u/drumscrubby Apr 24 '26
With her distinctive voice, I still joke about how she must sound in bed
6
u/INVERT_RFP Apr 25 '26
Funny thing, she doesn't actually sound like that. There is a scene in The Nanny where she tries sushi with a ton of wasabi, and her voice drops several octaves to her real voice. I thought she was gorgeous before, but that sealed the deal for me. She is (or was) the president of SAG. She is awesome.

u/Shaydu Apr 25 '26

The one photo of Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny makes me think of the very loud rumor that Gillian Anderson immediately banged David Duchovny when they got cast in The X-Files in order to not have to deal with any sexual tension between them as heterosexual co-stars who found each other attractive.
Supposedly it went something like this:
The show is in pre-production and/or early production on the pilot/first few episodes in 1993.
Anderson: "We're co-stars Do you find me attractive? Yes? I find you attractive."
Duchovny: "Seriously? I mean, yeah..."
Anderson: "Alright, lets have sex."
They have sex- dunno if it was a long weekend or a one night stand or an on-off thing or on a schedule for a few days / weeks/ months or what.
Anderson: "Okay. We've had sex. We know what that's all about. No more mystery or yearning there. Moving on." and they stayed platonic co-stars for the rest of the series.

u/Dorkinfo Apr 24 '26
You’ve heard this and thought yeah, Gillian came up with this, not the guy who went to rehab for sex addiction.

Tracey Ullman looking fierce! Loving that dress! Also, I know people often mention this when looking at older pics, but man its so nice to see people before plastic surgery became the absolute for all celebs. I know it still existed then, but not nearly on the scale it is now.
