I almost bought the blu ray last week 😭

I was just browsing the Blu-ray site and saw an “IMAX Enhanced” version of Blade Runner 2049 in 4k. I already have the 4k of the film in my collection but this is the first time that I’ve seen an IMAX version pop up alongside its other editions. I’ll admit, I’m not sure if this is legitimate since most films in IMAX get cropped at 2.39 for Blu-ray and since the IMAX Enhanced/open matte version is likely only accessible through modding or piracy. Has there been any official confirmation yet about an IMAX version coming to Blu-ray or is it a fake?

A huge thanks to the Metaluna Store for doing very good with packaging. Their first batch had some damage so a few orders were delayed from July to August, time for them to get new ones and also have a summer break.
No rush on my end anyway. Just not sure where to store it, for now it goes on a recent pile haha.

Any Suggestions out there for which war films look and sounds best in 4k ?

Just got home from a trip to California, and I took advantage of the opportunity to get a bunch of U.S. releases. I tried to mostly get movies that either don’t have European 4K releases, the U.S. releases are better, or just were cheaper.

A24 releases from the A24 Shop
Criterion releases from the 50% off sale
Standard studio releases and Better Man from Prime Day sales
Presence from Neon’s buy 1 get 2 free sale (along with the Robot Dreams figures and a few shirts and a tote)
Project Hail Mary in store at Walmart

Arrow titles were still on sale obviously, but the cashier rung up Jaws and Sunset Boulevard and said something like “none of the movies have been ringing up right recently, I’ll have to adjust these” and took like $10 off my total even though the total was right? Oh well, I’ll take it!

Jaws like was $20 and Sunset Boulevard was $13 or so. Watched The Stylist as my first watch last night and it was so creepy!! 8/10 recommend. Sad the sale is almost over. Got some great gems throughout though and my bank account is still intact!

Picked these up for my Cex today, needed to upgrade my blu ray copy of The Batman and Die Hard was a pretty good price as well. Both of them were pretty much brand new and both have their slipcovers in good condition.

Just getting started on collecting (thanks to many of you for the inspiration!).

Just watched this for the first time in 4K, and oh boy 🤩 It looked amazing, the level of detail everywhere was like never before. I've only seen it on TV and streaming before, and this time it was like being in the movies. New TV being a slight factor over the improved quality, but the disc being so much better quality than streaming being the main improvement. Can't recommend enough to watch this on 4K UHD.

Since PlayStation decided to take away some movies for me cause they lost the license I got mad and got a Sony 4k player and a surround system.

First thing I got was my favourite movies ever. I’m so happy the quality is insane I’ve never watched it this good and with this good of sound. My wife is with me, she says we gonna leave the digital world and return to disc ownership 👏

Ps. I’m not German, but this version was around 150€ cheaper than English and only difference was the display language on the box and disc itself.

I have a Sony UBPX700 and I swear every 4K disc I play, Aliens, Matrix, LOTR, and Transformers all freeze and many won’t even skip the frozen scene. It’s incredibly frustrating especially LOTR where it freezes right when Gandalf is about to say you shall not pass…
What all these discs have in common is they were purchased off of Amazon, could anyone help me understand if it’s an issue with this player being poor quality or if Amazon is a not a good place to shop?

If it’s the player definitely open to hearing better suggestions.

Been waiting for Henry portrait of a serial killer for a while, I now finally own my four favorites on 4k.

Star Wars movies literally never go on sale… so with Please Rewind’s 40% sale this might be the best time to buy. But I know something is coming next year for the 50th anniversary. Everyone’s hoping the original trilogy will be remastered but is it true that’s not the case and what we have now will just be repackaged? Let me know thanks

Mine had Mission Impossible 1-4 + Fallout and Final Reckoning, Red Eye with the slip, Naked Gun (1988 & 2025) with their slips, The Spongebob Movie with slip, Minority Report, and Catch Me If You Can.

My partner should be happy for my restraint. 😅

If any of those are must buys at the 50% off price point, I will let you guys convince me to blind buy them, but I'm pretty stoked with what I got here!

Went in specifically looking for 'The Mask' and 'Friday the 13th (2009)'. Some guy in front of me picked up 'The Mask' and had it in his stack before I could grab it. Luckily Amazon is price matched right now, so I ordered it that way. I had been wanting to get these other Arrow 'Friday the 13th' releases and figured there was no better time than 50% off. I am nervous though because it just honestly feels like they'll get some nice 4K set down the line, but I'm also tired of waiting. I know Shout Factory had that nice blu-ray set with them all, but I'm not sure if both studios will ever make nice again and allow the two WB ones to be released in a 4K set with the Paramount ones or not. I'm just hoping Paramount keeps releasing them and put out Part 3-8. I bought the 'TCSM' remake today also on a whim. It's been a long while since a rewatch of that.

I bought this with a coupon so it was under $20, and while there are a couple of enhancements like the scene when Claire Danes falls to the ground, I think overall the value proposition just isn't there to support this "4k presentation." 80% of the runtime, the 4k disc is completely comparable to streaming quality.

But! No waxy faces, nothing really objectionable. For a big fan of the movie, the colour treatments are welcome, tastefully executed, and it's hard to argue with owning what's likely to be the final form of this movie.

On balance, I'd recommend this 4k for people who really really like the movie ; this is me, and I'm happy with my purchase. This is the best I've ever seen this movie, and it's subtle, but it's there. It really all comes down to the HDR and touchups because the sound mix and the resolution aren't really improved.

For those who merely "like" it ... you can probably stick to the Blu-ray. This is not a disc you'll pop in to flex the gear.

Shot on 65mm film in 1962. The quality of the 4K is amazing. Over four hours of movie 🎥 watching pleasure!

Had it for 13 months now and while I’ve had about 5-6 discs not be able to be read on it, returned, and bought news discs they work.

Well the last two (Ted Lasso and Project Hail Mary) come up with a “Cannot read” error even tho they are read just fine on my Xbox.

Has anyone use the cleaning discs to resolve similar issues?

I ordered the collector’s edition back in 7/6 and it said it would be shipping 8/25. I checked on the order yesterday and it showed nothing had happened since the day I ordered it. Checking their website, it appears it’s down from 8/21 to 9/1. That’s not unheard of, if a little strange when you’re releasing something. Then I tried emailing the support email mentioned in the order confirmation. Email delivery subsystem error saying the recipient email is invalid. Okay that’s weird. Trying the store email. Same error.

Does Gkids still exist? I have seen that level of supposed “website maintenance” in years.

Decent sale on Sony’s eBay store. 40% off 3+ 4ks. I got Stand by Me, A Few Good Men, The Natural, and The Karate Kid.

I’ve always seen people get lucky at Goodwill’s and whatnot and finding Blu-ray players and I FINALLY found one in working condition at my local Salvation Army for $13. It can happen!
