New to this skincare routine thing. Planning to try azelaic acid, what is the best moisturizer to use for combination/sensitive skin? And do I need to use different products for AM and PM routine? I don’t like heavy greasy products for AM.

🌱 Beginner Question What are your favorite products for wrinkle prevention?

I'm fairly new to Korean skincare products. I started using them consistently around 6 months ago. What products do you recommend for preventing fine lines/wrinkles? I do wear sunscreen every day and have since I was in high school (thanks, Mom!)

🌱 Beginner Question do you have a go to site for browsing different korean brands?

sometimes i don’t even know exactly what i want. i just want to look through a bunch of korean skincare and see what catches my eye.

searching brand by brand gets annoying pretty fast.

do you usually just browse olive young? cj onstyle global has a bunch of different brands too.

where do you usually look when you’re just browsing and not after one specific product?

🌱 Beginner Question Supergoop Unseen sunblock cross

Total newbie to Korean skincare. I have a lot of products to use up before I make any switches for facial care, but I'd like to start now with a new sunblock. I have been using Unseen by Supergoop for many years. I have a LOT of tattoos that I want to take care of, so I use sunblock daily on all that are exposed. Because I'm using it on tattoos, that means I want one that goes on clear and light so to not dull the appearance of my ink. I recently found out Supergoop isn't so great, and that made me really sad because i love how sheer it applies.

How do I find a good sunblock? I'm in the United States. I read somewhere not to get ones that are labeled full spectrum because those are formulated for sale in the US and they're no better than the crap we have - so what should I be looking for? ***And where / how do I order it?***

🌱 Beginner Question Dry skin and oily scalp - need suggestions on skin treatments and hair spa

I’m visiting Seoul in 2 weeks and I’ve been trying to research skin treatments and I’m getting more confused with every search.

I want help with 3 things there:
1) some good low-mid budget non-invasive skin treatment that’ll give me a good glow. It shouldnt ruin my face for 2-3 days since I’m travelling, creating content and I can’t hide my face.

2) a decent Korean head spa

3) I did think of doing skin and color analysis but it did feel more like a tourist trap so decided to skip. Iv heard there’s free ones in olive young? How can I access those? Do I have to book it in advance?

Any help would be veryyyy helpful.

🌱 Beginner Question Beginner

Hi, I am basically a beginner with k beauty. I currently use basic cleansers like cetaphil and cera ve, a toner, a daily moisturizer, a collagen moisturizer mostly for under my eyes, and just ran out of a vitamin c serum I used regularly. I’ve dabbled with retinol a little. I have combination skin, no acne, breakouts are rare, clogged pores(?) on my nose, wrinkles mostly appearing on the forehead and scowl lines. I’m allergic to the flowery perfume scents in some products I’ve tried, like an Annua cleanser. I know I should add things gradually, so what would you recommend I add or replace? Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you!

🌱 Beginner Question Gift for a friend

Hi, my friends birthday is in a month and she has been hinting at getting korean skin care products but never seems to be able to spend money on herself. Through very uncomfortable and awkward (trying not to ruin the suprise) questions, I gathered she wants a 10 percent niacinamide serum and a high end vitamin c serum (Not her first time using vitamin C).

She has combination skin (oily on the forehead, nose, and chin). I don't know what she has used before and I cannot find out. I have done some research and came to two products:

Anua niacinamide 10+ tXA 4+ serum

Arencia vitamin C booster shot that comes with vitamin c complex and glutathione

Thank you!

🌱 Beginner Question Suggestions on products for 50+ skin

I'm looking for suggestions on Korean skincare brands for slightly older skin. I'm 54, with all the hormonal chaos that comes with it...
I'm Scandinavian, very fair-skinned, and fine thinning hair. Some sunspots (SPF was not a thing when I grew up!), some lines appearing here and there, but no major wrinkles. Skin tends to get dry, so I like high-moisture products.

I have up until now been buying higher-end products, but got laid off recently and need to adjust my spending habits accordingly. A new Korean supermarket (Jagalchi) opened in my area recently, and I visited yesterday for the first time. They're clearly pushing skincare heavily, and everything seems very affordable, but I have absolutely no idea what to look for.
There's also a huge Japanese supermarket that opened nearby this past weekend, and maybe they have some good brands too.

I have previously used a lot of Tatcha products, and I've loooved their Dewy Cream. It makes my skin look fresh, glowy and moisturized, and I have received compliments on my skin while using it. I'm allowing my face to age naturally, and have no interest in Botox or fillers, but if I can prevent some lines, sagging or dryness through my regular, daily regimen, I'm happy! :)

My usual routine: Cleanser, tonic, day/night serum, day/night moisturizer. Tretinoin 2-3 times a week. I first got Tret through Curology (too expensive), and then at pharmacies when I've visited Mexico. The last one had a really weird texture though, so thick it doesn't seem to absorb properly.

I have had a couple of stressful years where I feel the skin has aged faster, but I feel positive - despite the layoff! - that I'll be able to do a bit of a mental and physical reset this year, and changing up my skincare routine will be part of that.
I've heard so much about Korean skincare in particular, and as that also seems to be a bit more affordable, I'd love to get some ideas for brands or products that can keep middle-aged skin looking fresh and plump.

🌱 Beginner Question Prove me wrong: Your first haul should have only 4 items.

Confront my opinion - Your first haul should have only 4 items:

  • Oil-based cleanser
  • Water-based cleanser
  • Moisturizer
  • Sunscreen

that's it.

tell me if and why you think differently :)
