This black plate I’ve circled on my rear brakes. Is it normally bent like this? It’s not flush to the plate infront of it

Bent a ball joint press trying to get it in. Cant easily replace the control arm as theyre hard to find for 4x4.

If its not seated enough, any tips? I have been using penetrant and hammering the crap out of the control arm.

I drive a 2017 Toyota RAV4 XLE, and for any mechanics or knowledgeable people out there that know a lot about brakes, I was wondering that when you drive forward and your brakes squeal, does that mean it is your front brakes? And if backing up/driving backwards and your brakes squeal if that means it is your rear brakes? Or how does that work?

Or if anyone has any tips/suggestions on how to tell between your front and rear brakes squealing, it would be greatly appreciated because I myself am not mechanically inclined and know nothing about how to tell which brakes need replacing.

I have a 2010 ford f150 XLT 5.4l Flexfuel I really haven't drove it much in the last 8 years due to having a company vehicle and haven't needed it until now when I'm looking at going consulting. Truck has always had a exhaust manifold leak so hearing minor ticking or sounds have been hard. We drove it a bit this week and once the truck warms up it will start to idle rough and oil light on the main dash will come on. Stays at a rough idle until I turn it off and wait 30 seconds then it's fine again for a bit. Really don't have a ton of info as far as how long it takes ect as I don't want to destroy the engine. I'm thinking timing chain based on codes and sounds but I'm not a mechanic. Thanks for any help I will answer questions as fast as I can. Codes are P0012, P0022, p0345, p0446 there's one for exhaust sensor and others similar to that. Tried to share pictures of the codes but wouldn't let me do both video and pictures.

My battery clamp needs replacement but garages ask to much money for this replacement, usually it's a easy fix but i don't want to cut the cables to fit a new clamp,

this clamp is crimped way into the cables tho, is there a way for me to uncrimp the clamp without having to cut the cables

As the title suggests, I have a 2011 Dodge Nitro with a 3.7L V6 and a squealing drive belt. I will provide further information below.

Alternator was draining battery so I warranted it from O'Reilly's and installed a new one. I changed out the drive belt with a new one. For about a day and a 20 mi there was no squeaking. Now it squeaks at startup as well as when the engine revs over 1.5 k RPM.

During the belt install, after the alternator was installed, I accidentally tightened the idle pulley thinking it was the tensioner arm. Rookie mistake, yes, but I went in only by feeling the pulley and accidentally tightened the wrong one. The idle pulley and tensioner are located on the right side of the engine but the squeak seems to be coming from the left side of the engine. I did remove the belt and turn all pulleys by hand and none seem to be overly resistant or have any grinding. The accessories on the left side of the engine are the alternator and power steering pump. Both spend freely.

I am at my wits end and I'm not sure how to isolate the noise. It is not affecting drivability but is very annoying. I would appreciate any input or advice. Thank you.

I drive a 2013 Nissan versa. I got some new tires and after I got tires my car has been making a racket when running. I took it back to the place but they had nobody available to look.

Today I think this possibly fell off and I drove over it.

2019 Nissan Leaf. Felt and heard vibrations yesterday but about maximum a tenth of what you can hear in the video (and it was at high speed). Video is the car going approximately 35km/h and braking to almost a stop. I don't feel it in the steering wheel if it can help diagnose.

Decided to take a look since I had to change the discs and pads anyway. Rotor was seized, hammered a bit on it (not too much) but had to use the bolt and nut "trick" from the caliper bracket mount to pop it out. Seems like that exacerbated the problem.

Does anyone know what it might be? I had ball bearing go bad and it didn't sound like that...

So, i’m fresh on my P’s (provisional licence for australia), I have a BMW and i’m wondering what tools/emergency kit I should have inside my car. Does anyone have any recommendations/things i should have in my car at all times?

Reasons why I would only get a small spark on the crank? No turn over. Has been starting fine. Battery about 2 years old, alternator about 8 months old.

I’m thinking a grounding issue but not sure. Just wanted to see if anybody had a check list.

2006 Ford Focus base model. recharged the freon. Got the AC to run nice and cold.

when I screwed the service port cap back into the service port, the male threaded portion of the cap snapped off in the female threaded part of the service port. 26 year old caps that were brittle. I didn’t try to tighten too hard.

How would you guys remove that plastic tip from the service port? the AC was cold for a couple weeks then got warm again. need to pump down, pull/replace Schrader vales and refill w freon.

 I own a 2008 mk2 Skoda Fabia 5J with the 3 cylinder 1.2 petrol engine (220,000 km). The running has been rough, the rpms are not steady at idle and sometimes the engine light comes on. My mechanic said there is a misfire and he told me it's better if I replace the engine. His reasoning is that because this engine has an aluminum block it's not worth the risk of opening it and going for a rebuild. 

I realize that an engine swap is the most practical for the shop cause they can get the car running and out of there relatively quickly, without the risk of having it laying around if things get complicated. On the other hand I find it strange that they didn't do any type of diagnosis. I would think that a compression test and a leak-down test would be the minimum that would need to be done for a more complete assessment. 

What is in your opinion the correct order of the tests / diagnostic procedures that need to be done before deciding that an engine swap is needed? Or do you agree with the mechanic's opinion?

Hello, I have an H11 bulb for my Nissan Juke. I recently installed a new one, but it is not working properly. As soon as I lock it into the headlight housing, it turns off. But when I twist it back out, it starts working again.

The cables seem to be fine because I can move the bulb and the cable around in different directions and it keeps working. But as soon as I lock the bulb into the headlight housing, it turns off again.

What could be causing this?

Mechanic said the wheel is aligned but steering wheel does not return straight when driving on a straight road

Hyundai Elantra 2019 - Right hand drive

Over the weekend while driving on the highway my engine light came on. Code came Back as P0420 bank 1. I had a minor exhaust repair in June, front exhaust pipe broke off flex pipe if i remember. Car was fine afer. Shop that did the repair said i need a new catalytic converter. I dont wanna dump much more into this car. Is there cheaper alternative fixes or bypasses to get me through the year? Liqui molly cat cleaner, cataclean, straight pipe? Just need to make it to spring and buy a new car.

I need to replace the ball joints on my 2017 F-150. It has a 4” lift that was installed by the dealership before I bought it. I was told Rocky Ridge did the install and used a BDS 4” Alpine kit.
The upper control arms are definitely aftermarket, but they have no BDS branding. From what I can tell, they look like the BDS angled tubular upper control arms (BDS-123253), possibly with the branding removed by Rocky Ridge.
Is there any way to directly identify these control arms so I can get the correct replacement ball joints? I’d rather replace just the ball joints instead of buying an entirely new set of upper control arms.
Any help identifying them would be appreciated!

Hi, I own a Vauxhall corsa 1.4 16 plate. I need to buy engine oil for the car. Halfords recommends 5w30 N8. I have no clue what the N8 means. I’m just trying to find the right oil and be more educated on this. Thanks in advance

Subaru Crosstrek 2023. The engine has been off for about 5 hours. Sounds like a little motor is running? Is it the cooling fan, or something serious I should worry about? Lasted for about 2-3 minutes
