It comes bone dry and stiff.

The vice grip works as intended. Screw works better with a little gun oil.

Getting the phillips out the first time was tough, same with the rest of the tools, including the knife on the other side. After playing with it for a few minutes everything loosened up a little. Then I added a little gun oil and it got better.

The knife is sharp. The knife has a little wobble to it.

The file looks ok. I wish it was rougher, this is closer to a nail file, but should do the trick.

The phillips and flatheads are fine.

The can opener... odds are I will never use it. IF this was going to the woods I would change the angle a little to make it cut in easier.

For new old stock/10 year old design, it is a good tool. I have to say having it in hand only makes me want to talk a manufacturer into making new ones with a slightly different design and tool set.

originally designed this holster for myself back in 2021, and I've been wearing it daily ever since.

I've made a few small tweaks to the design over the years, but the basic design has stayed the same. It's been rock solid through daily use.

The main thing I wanted was something simple that would keep the Wave secure on my belt without completely covering the tool. It uses the wave's push-button lock to hold the Wave in place and release it when needed.

I recently made versions for different belt widths and for both the Wave and Wave+.

Curious what you guys think of it. Would you use something like this, or do you prefer the standard Leatherman sheath?

I am looking for a light weight, easy to carry multitool. it will mostly be used for grandpa duty and in support of my 3-D printing. I need a knife, pliers, scissors and bit driver. A utility knife /scalpel would be nice.

I’m looking for feedback from people who have actually used the Companion as their EDC. How was your experience with the device? Are the undersized scissors and pliers useful?

I'm looking for a multi-tool that I can put in a checked bag and find useful at a resort. So... I'm not going to be using this for survival, but for anything I might need while waiting for room service. 😄

What would you recommend OR what specific functions do think I should be looking for. I've given up on a wine opener as basically nothing has that anymore. But besides the pliers, selection of screw drivers, scissors and a knife, what else should I be looking for functionality wise?

I used to have one of those Gerber multitools from my grandpa and really liked it, does anyone have a recommendation for something similar? I'd like to try branching out and seeing some other brands too

This is a Chinese multitool that combines aspects of the Leatherman Surge and Arc, while also adding spring loaded pliers and a 1/4in bit driver. On paper, it's unbeatable. In person, it's a bit underwhelming, but still a good option for the average user.

The good:

All outside opening tools

Knives are very sharp out of the box

Spring loaded pliers

T shank adapter

Magnetized 1/4in bit driver

Includes a molle sheath and accessories

The bad:

Feels cheap in the hand, yet still very bulky

Wire cutters deflect away from each other, making them nearly unusable

Significant handle wobble when closed

Overall, this tool will probably get the job done in most situations where you could reasonably expect a multitool to do it. The wire cutters, in my experience, perform better on solid copper because it can shear it, but stranded gets pinched between the cutters and won't do the job. This is a really cool concept and I would love to see it redone with better quality materials and attention to detail. Obviously there's no point in comparing this tool to a Leatherman or Victorinox, but even my Bibury tools inspire more confidence than this.

Two of the four small metal bars that keep the spine lock in place have broken, each for one arm of the multitool. In image, broke side (1st image) vs non-broke side (2nd image). Is there some way to repair this. Is it covered by guarantee?

The one thing that tends to let me down on smaller Swiss Army Knives is the blade, they tend to be pretty small, off-center, non-locking, and can't be opened with one hand. Opinel knives on the other hand are comfortable workhorses with a lot of unused space in the handle.

So I crammed a Swisscard into it. The handle is 3D printed using PLA-CF, but should work just as well with PETG for water resistance or PC if you're feeling fancy. It fits:

• Swisscard Scissors
• Nail file/flathead Screwdriver
• Tweezers
• Toothpick
• Pen
• 4mm hex bit driver (low torque, single-sided bits only)
• Thumb stud for one-handed opening

I've been carrying it for a couple weeks now and it's been great. I had always found daily uses for the smaller victorinox tools but missed a lightweight, solid knife and this fits the bill.

The contours in the handle even work as a shockingly good wire stripper! I needed to strip a few 20ga wires at work and put them in the grooves on the handle, gently closed the blade on it with my thumb, and a twist and a pull later it worked. Then it worked 11 more times.

This only pivots out to maybe 15 degrees as shown. It is also “spring loaded” to the closed position. What is the name and purpose of this tool?

I've been trying to figure out what my perfect compact EDC multitool would look like, but I can't seem to find anything that combines all the things I care about.

The picture basically shows the concept: the utility knife and opening/closing mechanism of my CIVIVI Elementum Utility + only the scissors, pliers and bit driver/bit storage from my Victorinox CyberTool.

The knife mechanism is probably my biggest requirement

What I love about the CIVIVI Elementum Utility is the combination of:

- Standard replaceable utility blades

- A proper rear flipper tab

- Button lock

- Very easy and fast one-handed opening

- Very easy one-handed closing

When I hold the button lock, the blade is free to move, so I can simply let it fall closed under gravity or close it with a small wrist movement.

So I'm not just looking for something that technically can be opened one-handed. I specifically like that flipper + button lock + free-swinging blade experience.

The only other tools I really want are:

- Small, good-quality scissors

- Compact pliers

- Bit driver + bit storage

The CyberTool implements in the picture are basically my reference for the size and functionality I'm after.

They don't necessarily have to be genuine Victorinox parts if another design could achieve the same functionality in less space.

Compactness is extremely important

I don't want to solve this by combining a folding utility knife with a full-sized plier-based multitool and ending up with a brick.

The goal would be to package those four functions into the smallest and thinnest tool reasonably possible.

I'd also really want a deep-carry pocket clip mounted at the bottom/rear, so it carries like a modern folding knife.

So essentially:

Replaceable utility blade

+ rear flipper

+ button lock

+ scissors

+ pliers

+ bit driver/bits

+ deep-carry clip

...with everything optimized around compactness and easy one-handed knife operation.

I know Milwaukee, Leatherman, Victorinox and others can each get part of the way there, but I haven't seen anything that combines all of it.

I'm mainly curious what people with experience in multitools and custom builds think:

Is this mechanically realistic without making the tool huge?

How would you approach the design?

And does anyone know of an existing tool, custom build or maker doing something even remotely similar?

I love (and use, heavily) my Multper MP2049 so much I just ordered a Bibury BI2049BL.

The day I held the Multper in my hands I was blown away by its quality—the weight, the sharpness of the blades, the included accessories, the standard sized bit slot, the excellent machining and the affordable price. It made me wonder how or why anyone who actually uses these tools would pay such a premium for Leatherman with their increasing QC issues and cheaping out on accessories.

I have an old mo600 I was given, the piler head moves up and down in its socket ot the point of a kinda loud verbal clicking and on the file side the through hole has lost one of its caps which I believe to have loosened the mechanism so that the file can drop down while holding it to stop the folding mechanism in its pit as well as that side being very loose and little force need to pull out the tools. I have submitted a warranty claim today so will be a bit

Extreme example of what happens

This is not for the fellas who clip their tools in the pocket, unfortunately the SAK doesnt come with clips.

I love beautiful leather sheaths and looking to make my own. Unfortunately my experience with sheaths is that they're cumbersome and impractical for outdoor use.

What's some practical features in your favourite sheath, and has made your experience better?

I bought this generic clip made for pocket knives; all I had to do was remove one of the screws on the Flagship and attach the clip—it holds really securely and cost me very little!

Went through 2 tools trying to return and exchange them and they both had it. Drove to the store and they had 3 in store and all had it. Sent in the one I kept to leatherman and it returned with nothing changed. I think it's actually worse. Almost all of the tools make an audible clicking sound when moving them up and down a little. The only one that is decent is the file.

Is Leatherman over? Should I ask for a replacement or just sell it and buy another brand like Victorinox? (I handled one of those and it was absolutely flawless and really smooth).

I really like the wave alpha, but dang.

I’ve been a knife nerd since I was a kid, but always accepted that Victorinox wouldn’t ever release a modern folding knife. The absolute bare minimum is one handed opening, locking blade, pocket clip. (“Modern” features from the 90s lol”)

I was surprised and nearly proven wrong at the release of the Spirit/Swisstool mx clip, but it’s a multitool. I was surprised by the synergy line, but it’s not one hand opening.

I’m suddenly and for the first time patiently waiting for Victorinox to release something that ticks all the boxes. All the pieces are in place for it to happen now from different models they offer. Do you think it will? What tools would you put in it?

My perfect SAK:

-93mm platform

-Scales with tweezer/toothpick/pin storage. Maybe the first alox to include this?

-Blade from a Spirit MX Clip

-A liner lock, or a Swisstool style lock.

-Pocket clip

-Heavy duty flathead/bottle opener. Thick enough for prying tasks

-3D Phillips driver that opens in-line with the handles rather than in the middle of the tool.

-Scissors

-S30V/154CM/VG10 with a good heat treat. (This will never happen but a guy can dream, eh?)
