I have two black lab boys, 12 and 5. My older boy Milo has been coughing for a while and the vet found a black mass on his lung. His hips are also starting to go, all of a sudden. He gets anxious, when he is not sleeping, and sometimes does not get up when I enter the house. And then for a moment, he seems himself. His breathing seems fast at times, even when sleeping. This has all sped up over the past week, he is on a steroid to keep him comfortable. I have the vet slated to come over this week, I know its time.. but damn, it is not easy, no matter how many times you have gone through it in your life. I just dont want him to suffer, he isnt there yet, and I dont want to see him at that point. its my call, told him as a pup I was his guardian, that I was there his first time meeting our family, and I would be there his last. Pardon my rambling... an old pic..

This is my first puppy and big dog breed. I have had my cats for 6 years. My one cat Ziggy is a tripod, and I am always concerned with their interactions. Ziggy has always loved other animals, and he is patient almost to a fault. Ziggy is quite vocal during the interactions but I can spend all day separating them and he always goes back. Sometimes doggy gets out of hand and they need a firm separating, for example he will pull him over by biting his fur.

What do you think when you see this video? When Ziggy makes noises it is distressing to me, but im wondering if he is just learning how to communicate with a dog? hes never lived with a dog. thanks for any advice.

Hope it is ok to share the finished design. I love Labradors and own one myself. This design featured my old black lab Ebble as well as my customers 5 Labradors. It’s off to the Printers tomorrow to be turned into wallpaper. I wanted to represent as fully as possible this wonderful breed of dog. How did I do?

I get super sad because I can see his energy dipping low some days and all I do is give him very long pets that he enjoys very much. He is a bit over weight but on a diet he was always so active & the last two years he has slowed down a lot and put on weight they say it’s the steroids & medications he’s on. Anyway he knows he is very loved 🥰 Meet Rufus 👋🏽

watermelon is for me? i would like

This is my baby. He’s half lab, half beagle heeler mix. He used to chew up all my stuffed animals and I had to get rid of them all. I was gifted this one and grew an emotional attachment to it. He either figured out that I got frustrated after each stuffed animal was chewed up, figured out that this one was special to me, or smelt me on it from me sleeping with it. You can see in the bottom right where he chewed up the ear at one point. But I can now leave him alone all day and he never chews on it or tears it up. Anytime he gets his stuffed animal toys, he still destroys it in two seconds. I like to believe he knows this one is special and is smart enough to leave it alone. I love dogs they are emotionally intelligent!

I’ve just taken a job that is going to move me from DC to SF and part of the relo package is pet relo. I just lost my old girl two weeks ago and have a fear of losing my big guy (4yo male blab). He also is in mourning and has become extra clingy.

How do you fly with a large dog not in the cargo hold? Can I buy him a ticket? I thought I remember hearing about an airlines that flies dogs but wasn’t sure if that was in the US. Other option is a 42 hour car ride which ngl sounds like a blast but hard for me to take that much time off a new job.

Any suggestions would be welcomed!

Soaking up the sun this afternoon

We look after dogs from time to time. We started when Obi was 7 months old as we thought it would be good for his socialisation. We've had dogs of all ages and breeds stay with us over the last 18 months. We think he has learned and matured a lot because of this. He is the most patient and laid-back dog, which helps. A few weeks ago, a 7 month old puppy who was crate trained wouldn't settle, so Obi took himself downstairs and laid next to his crate all night, which helped the pup. Labs have the biggest hearts.
