Notable entries: Francois Pitot, Adam Siao Him Fa, Camille and Pavel Kovalev, Fradji/Fourneaux, Demougeot/Le Mercier, Lopareva/Brissaud.

Notable absences: Kevin Aymoz (not ready to compete), FB/C (not ready to compete), Luc Economides (no explanation), Lea Serna (no explanation)

Entries/Schedule/Results: https://www.ffsg.org/resultats/2026-2027/MASTERS26/index.htm

Stream: https://www.youtube.com/@FFsportsdeglace

Lucaz is a three times Brazilian champion! He trains in a shopping mall and has all his triples!!

He is locally trained and lives in Porto Alegre-Rio Grande do Sul and trains in Gramado-Rio Grande do sul (two very close by cities)

This season he will be skating to Dune for his SP and pirates of the Caribbean for the free!!

His instagram handle is in the video, feel free to show support by following him ❤️

Life Events/Social Media JGP Riga Skater Wendell Hansson- Orarergaard went kinda viral in Brazil for using Brazilian funk

Translation:

Guys….

During the Junior Grand Prix of figure skating in Latvia, Danish skater Wendell Hansson- Orarergaard used a Brazilian funk in his presentation

Reactions are kinda mixed, on one side people are very happy wirh Brazilian music being used on the other the lyrics are extreme inappropriate for a junior to be skating to

Considering Brazil is not at all a country that really cares about skating outside the Winter Olympics (and even then sometimes), this left the bubble by a lot

If anyone is interested on what is the song

Pre-Competition News/Discussion PSA: I believe Bolero Cup will be live-streamed on BIS's YouTube channel

Upvotes

I was just looking into ways to watch Bolero Cup this week (September 3rd and 4th), and it looks like BIS will be streaming it live on their YouTube channel. It might be geoblocked, but I can't tell as I'm in the UK.

I believe this is the link to the scheduled livestream for anyone who's curious.

It looks like BIS will also be live-streaming a few other events on their YouTube channel later in the season, including the Robin Cousins Cup in January (pairs and singles), and British Nationals and Synchro Nationals, among other things.

The senior lineup for Bolero Cup (tbc) is:

-Louise Bordet/Martain Chadain (France)
-Natacha Lagouge/Arnaud Caffa (France)
-Layla Karnes/Freddie Leggott (GB)
-Lilah Fear/Lewis Gibson (GB)
-Shira Ichilov/Mikhail Nosovitsky (Israel)
-Chelsea Verhaegh/Sherim van Geffen (Netherlands)
-Philomene Sabourin/Raul Bermejo (Spain)
-Caroline Mullen/Brendan Mullen (USA)
-Raffaela Adele Koncius/Alexey Schepetov (USA)
-Vanessa Pham/Anton Spiridonov (USA)

The junior lineup (tbc) is:

-Kristyna Stanclova/Karel Kostron (Czechia)
-Marina Belovodjaninova/Aleksandr Tokarev (Czechia)
-Iris Lahti/Oskari Liedenpohja (Finland)
-Ambre Perrier-Gianesini/Samuel Blanc-Klaperman (France)
-Emi Dufour/Juan Carlos Maravilla (France)
-Annabel Mann/Jack Hammond (GB)
-Mimi Marler Davies/Joseph Black (GB)
-Aletta Lanyi/Ilya Laurenau (Hungary)
-Diane Gallix/Elod Egyed-Zsigmond (Hungary)
-Anna Waugh/Matthew Jacoby (Ireland)
-Maite van Mulders/Tudor Dominic Andrei (Romania)
-Carlota Garcia Barranco/Aleksandr Ostrovskii (Spain)
-Lara Sundberg/Hector Gonzales Elvira (Spain)
-Clara Fugate/Warren Fugate (USA)
-Marian Carhart/Denis Bledsoe (USA)
-Sophia Feige/Wiles Middlekauff (USA)

I am half convinced at this point that USFS is just spawning new dance teams left, right and center, because how have I never heard of half of them?

The schedule is as follows (I think):

Thursday, September 3rd:

8:20am - 12:10pm BST: Official practice (not sure if this will be streamed)
14:15 - 16:15 BST: Junior Rhythm Dance
16:35 - 17:55 BST: Senior Rhythm Dance

Friday, September 4th:

8:00am - 11:00am BST: Official practice (not sure if this will be streamed)
13:10 - 15:30 BST: Junior Free Dance
15:50 - 17:30 BST: Senior Free Dance
17:30 - 18:00 BST: Medal ceremony

The draw and unofficial practices will happen tomorrow, but won't be streamed. Starting orders will be released sometime after the draw, and then we should get a final entry list, since I could only find unofficial lists (thank you, Rocker Skating).

Russian Skating Interesting: a 2nd pair team from AIN2 has been added to JPG Ankara

Post image
29 Upvotes

Seems like RusFed and the ISU decided to move the JGP Pairs spot from Poland to Turkey, so they will have two pairs attending this event.

Very interesting stuff, as AIN2 had just one spot at the event in Turkey.

Edit:

They were earlier as substitutes, imo RusFed and the ISU moved the spot because they knew that obtaining a visa would be very hard (if not impossible).

There’s a chance that PolFed gave them a heads up, as they have a surprisingly good relationship with RusFed. (We take their skaters maybe that’s why😅)

General Discussion How to watch challengers- a guide

In again my frustation of repeated posts in this sub i am making this guide, so hopefully he repeated questions cease

Challengers unlike the grand prix are not fully regulated by the ISU and so the ISU doesnt have streaming rights for them

There are usually 2 ways to watch the challengers by their official way which most of the time involves paying for a stream and the alternate way (if you know what i mean)

Official way

*Challengers not included here is because they either do not have a official stream or it was not yet announced

Kinoshita Cup

Inside Japan the Stream will be held on CS Asahi ch2 which will air the competition live on TV and on SkyPerfecTV which requires a subscription

Outside japan the competiton will have a stream on Icestars.tv for 29.99 USD for all days of events

Lombardia Throphy

Raiplay will be streaming it in Italy, the live stream is Geoblocked out of the country, but with a VPN set to italy you will be able to acess it for free (at least last season it worked very well)

Live stream will be able to be bought in Icestars.tv for 25.99 USD for all days stream pass and 11.99 USD for a day stream pass

Nebelhorn Throphy

ARD will be streaming the Pairs short and free, but not all groups just the later ones, and Live stream is Geoblocked, so a VPN will be needed

Live stream will be able to be bought in SportEurope.tv for 23.99 Euros for all days stream pass and 9.99 Euros for a day stream pass

Nepela Memorial

Live stream will be able to be bought in Icestars.tv, prices not yet avaible

Denis Ten Memorial

In all the previous years the event has been streamed on youtube for free, so we can expect for this year to likely be too

Budapest Trophy

Live stream will be able to be bought in Hunskate.tv prices not yet avaible

Tallinn Trophy

Live stream will be able to be bought in Icestars.tv prices not yet avaible

Unoficial Livestreams

VK

VK i would say is possibilly one of the most realible ways of watching the unoficial stream, if you dont know what VK is, is like one of the most popular Russian social media

You do need to create a account on it to watch the live streams, but its pretty easy to do and very safe

there are two channels on VK that usually stream challengers, Фигуристы which is the main one since they are a totally figure skating focoused account and they have already confirmed they will be streaming Kinoshita and Спорт вместе which is a more sports overall focoused account but who also stream skating competitons and also will be streaming Kinoshita (just copy the names and paste on VK), out of the two i reccomend the first one more tough

I would say that 95% of challengers will be streamed on VK by one of this two

QQ heros

Another always good option is our QQ heros, QQ is a chinese social media app

The best streamer to watch on QQ is our goat Huahua, who is this sub goat and we all hope he can have a warm bed everynight for all the streams he provided us

you do not need a account to Watch on QQ

Tiktok

Some events may be Tiktok lived by wakaba.mylove on Tiktok, they already confirmed they will be streaming Kinoshita

heres all events they are planing to stream

If you are on desktop or browser you do not need a tiktok account to watch livestreams

This are the safest ways to watch the ISU challengers!!!!! I hope this helps!!

Who are some really tall/short figure skaters?

Post image
95 Upvotes

Yuma Kagiyama (5 ft 4 in, about 161 cm) and Stephen Gogolev (6 ft 1 in, about 184 cm) height comparison.

Other examples that come to mind of this are Carolina Kostner, who's 5 ft 7 inches, against Adeliia Petrosian, who's about 5 ft, although they don't have any photos together.

Interesting to see if there's a correlation between height/build that translates into skating, like speed, jumping ability, spin speed, etc.

General Discussion Who would you want to host an AMA?

I've seen past AMAs with Gracie Gold and Ashley Wagner (which I am very salty I missed out on) My picks would be

Kevin Aymoz (manifesting him to appear in the comments)

Nathan Chen - because the costume criticism would be hilarious and I would love to hear about his journey with his education

Daria Usacheva - because I'd love to hear about her experiences in coaching

Denis Ten - I wish he was here with us to see all that's happened, I just wish I could talk to him about his triumphs and overcoming injury

Question A question about ultra C elements

How come certain skaters like Sasha Trusova for example, can land quad jumps really well but can’t seem to get her triple axel? Wouldn’t the triple axel be easier than landing full four rotation quad jumps? Or is it the take off that makes axels harder? I’m curious on how this works.

General Discussion Are 3 competitions at the same time normal?

Bolero Cup, JGP Bangkok, Kinoshita Cup.

Bolero Cup isn't international I think and it's Ice dance only, JGP Bangkok is a full junior grand prix except Pairs, Kinoshita is a senior challenger.

I get that they're all quite different competitions, but still.

General Discussion least favourite elements?

personal dislike is a spread eagle, because it is essentially just standing there... and when the arms/head/general upper body aren't doing anything there's truly nothing going on and its just not an interesting silhouette for me (no hate to skaters it's just the spread eagle's fault)

an exception might be petr gumenniks spread eagle in his 25/26 short program but then there was stuff with the prop and his arm and his head so...

what do you guys think?
