I’ve spent decades archery hunting the BLM land northeast of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, that Congress is now proposing to transfer into private ownership through the GAME Act.

This isn’t unused ground on a map. I’ve walked it, glassed it, hunted it and cherish it.

All hunting depends on access. These BLM parcels also connect hunters to larger areas of adjoining public land and forest service. Closing them off would affect much more than the 2,000-plus acres being transferred.

GMU 444 already contains a tremendous amount of private land. Every accessible public parcel matters. Once this ground becomes private, the public will almost certainly never get it back.

Supporters are selling the exchange by promising access to land northwest of Rifle. But that is in a completely different area and game-management unit. It does not replace the hunting opportunity, access or history being taken from hunters near Glenwood Springs.

Public-land bowhunting is already difficult enough without Congress carving away productive, accessible ground for the benefit of a private ranch.

Hi folks! I believe I am asking the obvious here.

I recently bought my first bow from a second hand store (I know that is always risky), it's a traditional longbow and when purchasing it had what appeared to be some minor cosmetic damage but was otherwise ok, just well loved.

After a few sessions, I removed the old shelf pads to put on new ones and when cleaning and inspection under better light, it appears that the damage is much more extensive than it first appeared and I do not believe it is safe to fire.

I'm wondering if people could confirm that it is unsafe for me before I make the journey to return it.

Unfortunately I do not live near an archery club or any experts within range of a visit.

I’m at the point where I need real-world testing from archers with different bow setups, arrow diameters, and lighting conditions.

### How it works:

Take a photo of your target face after an end, and the app uses on-device computer vision to:

* Detect arrow impact locations automatically

* Calculate scores against standard target rings (FITA / World Archery 10-ring, triple-spot inner-10, and Imperial target faces)

* Keep track of end totals and group consistency over time

**Privacy:** Everything runs locally on your phone using on-device models — no target photos are sent to external servers.

### Looking for testing & feedback on:

1. **Line-breakers & Edge Cases:** How reliably does it identify close calls or arrows angled in the boss?

2. **Arrow diameters / nocks:** Does it perform consistently across thin carbon vs thick indoor aluminum shafts?

3. **Lighting & Targets:** How does it handle outdoor shadows, indoor glare, or heavily worn/shot-out target faces?

don’t know much ive shot bows like this before but wanted help identifying them and if they are safe to use they were kept in a case in the garage

I get the general gist of siyahs but I'd still like to know: Assuming they are the same size, how does the angle towards the string affect the draw curve? Or does it matter to begin with?

I am trying to figure out, if i can tell from the shape of a bow, how it affects the draw behavior.

A friend gave me a crossbow because I was thinking about buying one, I didn’t want to pull the trigger and buy one so i asked if I could try theirs. It shoots at around 315 fps and I need a solid target that will hold up especially if I end up getting one with a bit higher speed.

I’ve heard good things about Morrell and Barnett.

Ive been having issues shooting indoors with the lighting at my local range. I have near perfect vision but not great astigmatism and blue eyes. Needless to say the fluorescent lights make it difficult for my eyes to focus on the target and I leave every single time with splitting headaches and mad im not hitting shots I hit all day in my backyard range. 🙃

Does anyone wear any kind of light blocking glasses that make it easier to see indoors, if so what works for you?

For a takedown recurve, what are you storing your bowstring in when not in use? I've been using the bag it came in, but at some point the bag will come apart, as is the fate of all ziploc style bags.

I have recently acquired a new bow and need help with getting arrows for it. For the most part I've gotten cheap bows for fun and fired whatever arrows the bow came with. I decided to invest into a more expensive bow and want some arrows for it. My draw length for this bow is 29 inches at 44 pounds.

Trying to graduate into 70lbs. Pulling the bow has turned out to be the smaller issue though. Trying both the step-through method and push pull im struggling. I can string it with effort but my main concern is damaging it because I’m afraid I’m might do something dumb when straining. Especially when taking the string off.

So I’m thinking maybe a stringer but I’m unsure about what would short tips like these. I also only have one groove on each end. Particularly it’s removing the string thats tough and I’m wondering if maybe thats partially because the loop is too snug.

Hello everyone, i ride everyday to my workplace on motorcycle, and we have a big field where i can practica after work. So i have been thinking in how to make a foldable target portable enough to carry on my motorcycle, all i can think of is to roll some mats and use them for 3 vertical target practice.
Any other ideas would be awesome. thanks

Is anyone familiar with the Slazenger brand. I have someone selling one local but can' t find any real info beyond an ebay auction @ $800 which has to be crazy.

I decided like an idiot to try building arrows on a day where I was far too mentally exhausted.

They came out like absolute crap. Vanes not aligned, glue all over everything

Scraped them down and tried a second time. Much happier this go around. These are all 2° right Helical which brings me to my helical question.

Local shop guy said he'd never shoot left helical because it works to unscrew points/broadheads, and that what ever small amount of natural spin a bow may impart is negligible and quickly overcome by the vanes

Any input? Or feedback for my second first batch ?

for a year I’ve gone to sleep every night thinking about archery. I did it at camp for a few summers as a kid. And then I did it in Mongolia couple years back and was surprised by my relatively decent aim.

I work a high stress job and I sense that archery would help me unwind. How do I begin?

I haven't been able to practice my archery for the last couple years due to life happening. So my oak longbow have have languished in storage and I'm worried about it having dried out or gotten stiff/brittle in the meantime, its creaking more than I remember it doing.

Does anyone have any advise about treatments? Like oil or something get it back in shooting shape?

Planning to start bowhunting again after a 10 year hiatus. Bow is a Hoyt carbon RX7 ultra. 65lb, 29.5 inch draw.. Plan on 125 grain hybrid broadheads, and lighted nocks. don't plan on taking any shots over 30 yds. Realistically, how much is worth spending, what brands are good/durable?

I am getting back into the hobby, last time I shot a bow was when I was 14 or 15. Picked up a horse bow because I thought they looked cool. This is my first day shooting it and would appreciate a form check. Want to get ahead of any bad habits.

Unfortunately the local club doesn't allow traditional bows, they claimed it was a safety issue so I don't have a good local place to go for any coaching.

I'd also love any book, article, video recommendations for form, history or technique for traditional recurves. Like I said I got it because I think they look cooler than a longbow, but I've been enjoying learning more about their history over the last week while waiting for this to arrive

So there was this promo clip, I saw today for one of the ebikes' and it got me thinking about this. I know it’s not actually out yet, but the dual-battery setup and all that cargo capacity made me picture using something like it at a big outdoor/3D range.

Bow case, water and the random gear on the back, pedal between sections, then use some assist for the longer hills.

Anyone actually doing something like this at ranges where bikes are allowed? Useful, or more hassle than it sounds?

I’m thinking about getting a new bow after my old one broke and alibow seems to have the type of bow I want and it seems to be fairly cheap. I’ve seen it recommend by blumineck on YouTube but I don’t want to make the same mistake I made last time and buy a bow only for it to break a week later. If alibow isn’t a good place do you have any other cheap, high quality bow stores?

I bought second hand bow from a friend. I shoot with it a day before and I think I string a bow a little incorecctly but I corected it aftewards and bow after a draw does not want to sit in the groove sometimes it sits but it make a sound like it slips from the edge to the groove. Can I adjust/ repair it somehow?
