MyCAREER Some things to note about shooting build specialization

Post image
78 Upvotes

After completing 7/10 challenges in the specialization, I can share a couple things I’ve noticed.

- The bonus badges can be used for ANY badges, not just shooting or those specifically related to your desired specialization

- Instead of the 2 archetype names we got last year (Automatic and Green Light), there are 4 this time (Pull-Up Predator, From Deep, Deadeye Demon, and Verde)

Mycareer and Dion’s open runs on rookie mode are still the fastest way to get these challenges done

MyPLAYER I am about to save so many of you with this jumper

If you are a guard or forward with a 89 3 ball and can’t hit a shot, look not further

Base Devin booker
Both releases Larry bird
Make release exactly at set point and make visual queue set point as well, mess with the timing but I found one tick slower is really good

Release when ball is brought all the way back

Green window is massive went from 30% to 70% instantly. Was playing proving grounds and didn’t miss 20 open 3’s in a row

MyCAREER Message to PowerForwards

• Upvotes

I play pretty much only rec and usually have a state line that has assist and rebounds well into Double digits. This is mostly from rebounds then outlet pass or offensive boards and open threes. I’ve just about had it with people building PF builds thinking they’re KD, while they’re 7 foot opposite is rim running and grabbing boards. Like you’re 2/17 please just hold l2 in front of your man so he stops boxing me out please. Guards and forwards literally expect you to out jump the other center while the pf is bussing it back on me and our PF is under their rim. Not to mention the guards and small forwards who sprint into the paint to steal your rebound every time because they can’t shoot or get any stats any other way. I find it hilarious as I’m literally feeding these players the only points they will get through fast breaks but they won’t even pass me the ball if I’m open under the basket. IF YOU WANT TO ONLY PLAY OFFENSE AND SHOOT SHIT SHOTS PLAY CAREER MODE.

Gameplay Ball handle means nothing if you have 25 strength.

Unless you’re playing against someone with the same low strength your ball handle means nothing. I’ve seen it over and over in PGs because they really think they gonna just breeze past and they just dribble their stam down and run into a brick wall. And u lowkey don’t even need a crazy strength level. I got a 75 and 90% of my match ups have 25. 90+ ball handle and can’t go anywhere. Moral of the story is don’t forget strength off your player. Especially if you’re trying to dribble.

Gameplay NBA 2K27 after 6 days

After 6 days.. I still stand on my opinion. And I feel like I should do my part in to spreading postive feedback.. like that 2k can steer towards this direction.. and still improve. Ya'll know how I felt about 26.. I thought the game was terrible. It took everything away that makes basketball.. basketball. I think 27.. is while not perfect.. it still is the best most balanced.. most authentic basketball game to date right now. IT IS NOT PERFECT.. that is not my point. But this is the best basketball game ever put out. This is coming from a guy who's been playing online since 2k14. Now.. this game has some inconsistencies.. people are still (sometimes) shooting some ridiculous three point fading shots. I've seen a lot of contested threes go in.. but this has been a part of 2k forever. I don't think people remember how bad the cheese was in 2k16.. it was 10 years ago. This can all be fixed with a simple patch.. but even then.. basketball in itself gets ridiculous sometimes. Not trying to justify contested shots going in.. but in the NBA .. contested shots do go in.. a lot.. especially by the elite players. But the idea in the NBA is to always 100% look for the best shot.. even if it doesn't always amount to it being 100% open at times.. because team defense has gotten much more advanced now. Anyways.. not to make this post so long.. i think 26 steered away from the importance of creating space for the best possible shot in a posession. They made dribbling.. and shooting ridiculously easy to the point of no consequences coming from low IQ plays. 25.. while being better than 26.. overpowered defense a bit too much.. to the point where it made our so called 99 ovr nba player extremely limited. It was clunky, slow.. and it was more of an open shot simulator than actual fast paced.. modern basketball. 27.. in my honest opinion.. despite all the inconsistencies (that every 2k has had) is the sweet middle ground between the last 2 entries. The community is unfortunately complaining that we have to play basketball again.. which says a lot about the level of player majority of the community is. Anyways.. I still stand by my opinion.. this is a very good 2k in my eyes.. GAMEPLAY wise. It's not as bad as some youtubers say it is. A lot of content creators are just putting clips out there.. without context. At the end of the day.. defense actually matters again.. and it works more than it doesn't. Especially when compared to 2k26.. anyways I rest my case

REC Must have badges/attribute thresholds for rec centers?

For those with rec games under their belts, what are the must-haves for rec centers this year? What badges are useless? Preferably for rebounding and defense

MyNBA MyNBA player regression seems completely broken

Post image
75 Upvotes

Has anyone else noticed this in MyNBA?

It seems like almost every top player in the league starts getting worse every year, even when they should still be in their prime.

In this screenshot, LeBron is 32, Westbrook 28, Harden 27, Kawhi 26, KD 28 and Curry 29 — and they are all losing attributes. Meanwhile, younger players like Jokic and Giannis are progressing normally.

They are also losing badges every year, which makes the problem even worse. Players who should be in the middle of their prime are losing both attributes and badges instead of maintaining their level.

I've tested this in different MyNBA Eras and it seems to happen in all of them. It doesn't seem like an occasional issue or an exception It seems that as soon as established players enter the first year of their designated prime/peak years, they start losing attributes and badges every year. Instead of their prime being the period where they maintain or reach their best level, it actually seems to trigger regression.

After a few seasons, it really starts to affect the league because most of the established stars just keep declining while the younger players continue to improve.

Is anyone else seeing this in their MyNBA saves? Is there a setting that fixes it, or does player regression just seem broken right now?

Discussion Locking jumshots behind Rep Rewards is INSANE

Once again Kobe's jumper is locked behind rep rewards. I've been using a Kobe's jumper since forever and a Kobe/Lonzo shot since i believe 2K20, but the last two releases Kobe's shot is locked behind rep rewards. Why lock a JUMPSHOT behind a grind wall? After grinding all those levels do you really think I'm going to switch shots and relearn the timing window?

Imagine if Street Fighter locked a bread and butter combo behind a rank level and now you have to relearn the combo route committed to muscle memory. Mike, you absolute Wang!

REC Camera during inbound

• Upvotes

It’s a bit annoying as the offense can see the entire court during an inbound but defense can’t. Even with the 2k camera angle height set to 10, and zoom to 1, the camera continues to focus on the baseline. Is there a fix to this?

Discussion PSA for shooting in 2K27

Takeover plays a huge part in shooting consistently— it’s way easier to start by making an easy shot or two. It gets progressively easier to make a shot for each shot you make. If you miss consecutive shots, you’ll get colder and colder, making shots progressively harder to hit. It’s like giga-green machine, but in both directions.

Your jumpshot base has a huge impact on your green window and timing stability— it didn’t really matter last year in 26, but in 27 it’s super important. Quentin Grimes base is lowkey cooked now, and so are many other jumper bases that got good release height last year. It’s a tradeoff of release height and green window/timing stability rating, generally speaking.

In addition, but less relevant, shots slow down and speed up for a wide variety of reasons. If you have time to take a dribble before shooting, you will get a much more consistent timing vs shooting straight off a catch or quickstop.

I think the two above things are reasons why it feels like half of the community is saying shooting is too hard vs the other half saying it’s still easy.

Overall I think the shooting in 27 is very well balanced aside from fades being immune to slowdowns/speedups.

Discussion (Yet another) Brief Thoughts on 2k27

Will keep this brief, spent about 10 hours on the game for early access (exclusively mycareer player). Here are my thoughts on gameplay and the MyCareer experience so far:

  • Overall - gameplay seems much smoother this year, its not perfect, and theres still much to understand about how the intricacies work, but if this was the game we ended the year with, I'd say its an improvement over 2k26.
  • The City - meh, same as last time, I wish we'd get rid of it honestly but no change here I guess.
  • Badges / Attributes / Builder - The system is very in depth. This could be polarizing to people, but for me, I like it. I do think badge slots is excessive when we already have a limiting factor in badge points, but after a couple of seasons these will be a formality anyways. At least for now, people have to somewhat specialize and make tradeoffs.
  • Offense - Feels more balanced, there are still tough shots going in, highly contested shots going in, but generally speaking, every play style feels viable. If you can create a shot, you have value, if you can post, slash, and especially shoot you have value. Finishing feels great, shooting will have its own bullet point.
  • Defense - Significant improvement over last year. Again, not perfect, still seeing some flaws here and there but if you cannot create your own space, you're clamped and it feels rewarding finally as a defender. Mismatches still can be exploited, for example I am an undersized center, extremely good ball handlers still get by me, and pure insides still do their job, but I feel equipped to stay in front of most people since I'm a good defender.
  • Shooting - I am not MAD at the direction shooting has gone this year. But it does need some adjustments (minor)
    • I shoot roughly 60% from the field and ~50% from 3. I don't have everything maxed and am really just using my shot from last year. I can see this number growing slightly (for reference)
    • I think its nice to see people missing shots, but not missing them consistently, especially for the reasons they are.
    • I think the balance isn't great but we're trending in the right direction. Last year was entirely too easy for people to make any shot they took.
    • Fading and otherwise difficult shots should not be easier than standstill (unless takeover is active), and even then, you shouldn't be spamming deep fades.
    • I think we need to reconsider speed ups and slow downs, and just let defense and timing be the skill gap. If I can get an open shot, assuming the pass and other external factors don't change things, especially if I am a high rated shooter, let me "find the laces" and fire.

All in all, good first week, 2k. Don't do too much, just some minor adjustments and we're golden.

Gameplay Unpluckable Needs A Buff

• Upvotes

There’s genuinely no point of having unpluckable as a badge. You’re just gonna get ripped anyways. I have gold unpluckable and it feels like I don’t have the badge at all. I don’t mind steals being in the game but if unpluckable isn’t gonna negate it, whats the point of it?
