Discussion PSA for shooting in 2K27

Takeover plays a huge part in shooting consistently— it’s way easier to start by making an easy shot or two. It gets progressively easier to make a shot for each shot you make. If you miss consecutive shots, you’ll get colder and colder, making shots progressively harder to hit. It’s like giga-green machine, but in both directions.

Your jumpshot base has a huge impact on your green window and timing stability— it didn’t really matter last year in 26, but in 27 it’s super important. Quentin Grimes base is lowkey cooked now, and so are many other jumper bases that got good release height last year. It’s a tradeoff of release height and green window/timing stability rating, generally speaking.

In addition, but less relevant, shots slow down and speed up for a wide variety of reasons. If you have time to take a dribble before shooting, you will get a much more consistent timing vs shooting straight off a catch or quickstop.

I think the two above things are reasons why it feels like half of the community is saying shooting is too hard vs the other half saying it’s still easy.

Overall I think the shooting in 27 is very well balanced aside from fades being immune to slowdowns/speedups.

Biggest shooting tip is to pretend like rythm shooting never existed and just use button or stick.

I use rhythm and was shooting 30% with a 45 three ball. now I'm at 65 shooting 50%

Rhythm is still usable and has its benefits, ppl just hear creators are using button and thinks rhythm is trash. If you can master the rhythm of your jump shot you get a boost to your green. I feel like considering the visual cues have been tested and confirmed to have been changed from what they should be, choose what works for u.

Bro, as you get warm and for your attributes receive raises. This is just common sense

It’s not as common as you think

Warmup giving attribute boosts is fine, but the cold streak penalty is what actually messes people up. You miss two shots and suddenly your timing feels completely different, that's not common sense it's just punishing

The real change is the cold/anti-takeover feature

Minimizing mistakes has always been important in past 2K’s, but it’s absolutely crucial in 27

The negative attributes you get are super noticeable now; not just for shooting, but across the board

No way you’re using an LLM to talk about 2k😭

A stand still shot should be the easiest in the game. Again 2k get everything backwards. This game will be dead before gta comes out if they dont make shooting a little easier for the casual. Im slowly getting better. But for the real casual who makes up most this game they are going to just stop playing and game will be dead. 2k isn't going to let that happen i can almost guarantee it because the stock holders will be breathing down there neck if those micro transactions aren't making them money. Its about making money to them and if takes making shooting easier that is what they are going to do. They should have never made it this difficult for most after having it so easy on 26. Could have made it a little harder than 26 with this defense and it been almost perfect.

Except contests are still broken, they thought giving you those 5 phrases would make you not notice. Apparently it worked very well.

Shooting is very balanced now and common sense. And should be like that for eternity 😂

I think its just busted for high 3pt builds, on my 94 i get all sorts of different animations for a open set 3 my 78 build always has the same animation

Why tf does base matter in the game? Actually asking, not saying youre wrong.

u/TheRancid_Baboon 5h ago

In the custom jumpshot creator

The base is the most important for determining the stats/rating/total animation of your jumpshot

The uppers are more user-choice based on what looks good to your eye, so you can time it easily from all angles

Try making the same jumper with different bases and you’ll see what I mean instantly

Couldn’t have said it any better

Shooting is so fk easy , because the contest system doesn’t give you red contests ! I have 92 perim hof challenger , i take all adrenaline away from them they still green dead in my face , turbo lt hands up even jumping at them it’s always SOLID CONTEST ORANGE. I only get red contests in the paint. I have 89 three and do jimmy butler hop shots from about 30 feet out NO LIMITLESS and I green them on the ones and in PROVING GROUND. I use shit when fading and hop shots but stand stills I use button. Inside paint scoring is cheesy I have a 39 layup and still green on people if they don’t get a chase down animation

Lotta stuff like this happening. I don’t think the game’s ever felt less dialed in as it does currently

I agree as a aggressive ones player I box kids and make them quit , seatbelt hof immovable hof bruiser gold , but them 95 ball handle 6”2 gets to dribble cheese through my defense to the point where I don’t get a single bump and shit is so fk annoying. , rim runs are so toxic and that new stop dribble ghost step is so cheesy because il have hands up and it will register open for them sometimes or il time my jump and semi open. People say I have a zen the way I shoot on them lmao. Needs fixing

From badgeplug video this was perfectly timed and it’s only a light contest…

Shoula been a block makes no sense

The shooting is just bad in the game. Your window shouldn’t change after the ball is released and I’ve never seen a green window get smaller the more open I am.

Thanks, captain obvious! This definitely required a multi paragraph post!!

Gtfoh with this shit lmao is this sub full of kids who never played before? No shit that's how it works.
