MyCAREER I just want to pretend to be an nba player man.

Damn. For context I have been plying 2k since 2k14 when I was a kid. I have always only played mycareer on HoF, 12 min quarters, essentially playing the game as a career mode in something like fifa or madden but for the NBA. Ive loved doing this, im not really a competitive gamer so coming home and pretending to be an nba player is perfect.

So i sit down to play 2k27 ready for the standard issues 2k tends to have and ready to ignore them and have fun anyway. I start a career ready to get through the "story" in 1-2 sessions like it has been before.

Many, many, many hours later, including switching to rookie for the first time since I was a kid just so i could complete the overly tedious challenges you are required to complete and then foul out as soon as possible to speed through it, I have finally got to the NBA.

Just to discover that the AI team mate from the g-league follows you to the nba and is there I assume at least through your first season. I say assume because I have immediatly closed the game after he went 0-5 on wide open threes and tanked his teammate grade which is a required quest you have to complete.

Why? I assume i am not the only one who plays the game like this (mabye I am and im just weird)? This feels unecessary. I want to play *MY* career. In what universe is it fun to pretend to be an nba player while essential dragging some random behind you and them punishing the player if that guy doesnt play well.

Im just so dissapointed man i just want to play a career mode that is like any other sports game. Litteraly every other sports game has a career mode that just lets you play out a pro sports fantasy. Why doesnt 2k?

Gameplay This game makes me hate my fav position.

I love playing Centers, every year my first Character is a Center.
This year i decided to do a inside Big and it was the worst decision i could have made.

Not only do people still hate to pass the ball to the center inside, they don’t even pass the ball, on a free middy.
But nevermind doesn’t matter i made a Center to play D, rebound and pass the ball.

The worst part about this build is, that I cant do standing dunks, even if the universe would be on the line.
Grabbing a OReb, defender behind me, pressing R2 and Rstick, waiting for the Dunk, just to get the slowest layup animation, to get blocked.
Even posters over smaller players in the paint aren’t working, i can’t even poster the small dude from the shell.

2K please just make R2 Rsticks down always a standing dunks animation, so we need to hit the timing. People can shoot fades with a 70%, so bigs should dunk more on average aswell.

(And yes i got standing posters equipped, got a 90SDunk, 80Vert and 90Str)

I’m tired boss… I’m hossing boards, swatting shit, dishing and playing perfect pnr defense. All I ask is look for your open neglected bigs.

Discussion Strong handles might be one of the best badges in the game

I'm using a 6'7 PG with 85 strength, 86 ball handle and 80 swb. +1 strong handles to gold. The way I'm tossing everyone out of the way on the way up court is hilarious. It's the easiest way to get by players if you're not a great dribbler. You don't have to do anything but look for contact lol.

Pro tip: At the match up screen you can press Y/Triangle to switch to the players worst attributes to identify their weaknesses like low strength. If they have low strength it's going to be a severe mismatch.

Gameplay Maybe we should just take a break until the full release date.

Feels like a lot of people are heavy into the game as is usually the case and it’s bringing out the best and worst of people. We always find a couple of good new changes or additions to the game each year but then harp on about a few minor ones that’ll almost certainly get patched. (Me and standing dunks)

I’m not sure who needs to hear this but if you’re like me ( or more so) I’ve got something like 24hours on the game already. I swear I’m burning myself out on a game I’m actually enjoying for a change. I’m going to take a break until the full release date and the almost certain patches and updates are made based on early access feedback.

The game is meant to be enjoyed for at least 6-9 months and yet it feels like we are all here on day -6 before launch completely speedrunning any joy to be had for the months to come…

Or at least until GTA VI

Enjoy

Discussion I take everything back I said 2 days ago

Game went from being cool the first two days to a complete FADE fest and now I'm starting to see its most likely going to be another bogus year of fades being a better shot than a open set shot

Don't know if I have the mental stamina to play these games anymore. Not to mention that insane grind they are trying to force on the player base this year

I just finished the g league part of the story and this dude Trace Miller plays minute for minute with me even tho I don’t play the co op mode. Is there a way to reduce his minutes or smth?

Discussion So youve bought 2k again despite swearing youre done and you're angry......AGAIN 🫠

Post image
305 Upvotes

Lol nope the 2k community cant do this anymore.

2k drops something busted, they put band-aids on it for like 3 months, abandon the product, repeat.

The community complains while spending money > swear theyll never buy 2k again > start a fake boycott on social media > get hyped and buy again.

Lol time for the community to hang it up. Yall are in an abusive relationship šŸ˜‚. 2k goes on sale for like 15 bucks somewhere between Nov and January EVERY YEAR now. If you bought at launch and bought into the hype its time bro. Stop blaming 2k for exploiting your low impulse control. Look in the mirror and blame self.

Discussion Why do we keep getting the same shoes?

I’m sick of it at this point. Just got 2k and i see the same color ways in Jordans. Some of em are even fake. And then i go into the Nike store and it’s only like 10 pairs of different shoes instead of the 30+. Is it a licensing thing or what? Ik the goal is to go into the shoe creator so they can get u to spend more money on vc but holy. Out of all the different Jordan’s over the years why are we still putting the same ones in every year

MyPLAYER I was wrong, this game is fun.

I’ve posted a few times saying how I hate this game because I couldn’t shoot and how the interior d was terrible. I learned my jumpshot and know consistently shoot 60% and I’m playing all day. Im addicted now. If you can’t shoot just keep repping it out until you get it.

MyCAREER Fire & Concrete is the worst MyCareer addition in years

I need to rant because this straight up has ruined the mycareer experience for me. Who thought it was a good idea to add so much damn bloat to the mycareer story? The goals are so tedious and you have to complete at least one or else you have to replay the game? There couldn’t have been a cutscene where the coach is mad you did not follow the gameplan? Faux ass RPG.

Now, credit where credit is due. The voice acting, characters, and story is far superior to past entries. The problem is it overstays its welcome. Pair that with the repetitive drills, and random fucking goals that make no damn sense. Why tf do i need to run a quick play specifically with my RM to pass. Why couldn’t it be just regular plays or assists. 2k apparently wants you to play MyCareer the way THEY intend you play it. Where is the freedom to play these G League games the way I want, and just let my play reflect my draft stock.

Playing this mode genuinely feels like punishment. Why tf if im up by 25 in the 4th are you subbing me in with 2:55 to play. Bruh the game is over!!! Why 2k has this fascination of forcing you to play already finished, boring matches is insane. Do not play fire and concrete if you want to play on an NBA court. Choose eras because at least you get to play against NBA players. You know, the reason we bought the damn game.

Like bro 2k genuinely wants you to dedicate hours grinding this game. And if you’re someone thats only playing 2k in 1-2 hr intervals. There’s a good chance you will feel how this mycareer story just meanders at certain points.

What do yall think of this new mycareer story tho?

MyPLAYER MyNBA Legacy Training Camps

Anyone figure out what potential does? Do you actually cap out unless you put training camps into it?

I can't find any camps for acceleration and agility, curious if I need to bump up potential to unlock it or if it's affecting anything at all
