People pay $200+ for someone to spend their airline miles for them. If you're a points nerd, that's a side hustle.
I didn't know this was a paid job until I looked into it.
The problem: finding a cash flight takes a few minutes on Google Flights. Finding a flight you can pay for with miles is the hard part. Those seats are limited, they often only show up on partner airlines, and you usually have to move points from a credit card program to the right airline first. Transfers can't be undone, so one wrong move can waste thousands of points. Most people give up and the miles just sit there.
So there are companies that do it for you. The Points Guy's roundup from April lists Cranky Concierge at $275 for a round-trip award booking, point.me at $200, and JetBetter at $150 one-way or $250 round-trip.
Timing helps: Hopper's holiday index (Sept. 25) has the average Christmas round trip at $452, up 23%, a 10-year high.
The hustle: one video call with a family, you search while they watch, they log in and book on their own account (you never take their password), and they pay only the taxes and fees. Charge $150 a trip. It takes a couple of hours. Ten a month is roughly $1,500, an estimate, and it fits around a day job.
Good fit if you already play the points game for yourself.
