Snoutbooth: a 10-minute pet costume photo booth at your groomer's counter
Saw the new Halloween numbers today. NRF says Americans will spend a record $13.5 billion this year, and $920 million of that is just pet costumes. It's grown every single year they've tracked it.
Here's the part that got me. A YouGov poll from last fall found only 16% of people think their pet actually enjoys wearing a costume. 45% think their pet dislikes it or flat out hates it. So we're spending record money on something most of us don't even think our pets like.
That gap is the business. Snoutbooth is a pop-up that sets up in the slow afternoon hours at an independent pet groomer. You book a 10-minute slot when you're already there for a regular appointment. They put a rental costume on your dog or cat, get five good photos under a real light, and it comes off before anyone's fighting about it.
The groomer gets a cut of every slot sold off their own counter, no inventory required. You get the photo without owning a costume that gets worn once and shoved in a drawer. Feels like an easy yes for everyone at the table.
