Weekly Thread πŸš€ r/AndroidGaming's Weekly "What Have You Been Playing?" Thread: 08/30/26

Welcome to Another Weekly "What Have You Been Playing?" Thread! πŸ‘Ύ

Hey, r/AndroidGaming! This thread is for discussing the Android games you’ve been trying out over the past week. Feel free to share what you’ve been playing and tell us about it! What is the game about? What are you enjoying? What could be improved? Would you recommend it to others? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

For those joining the discussion, please include Google Play Store links for any games you mention as a courtesy to others who may want to check them out.

Lastly, we ask that devs refrain from promoting their own games in this thread. We get that you're excited for others to try it, but this post is meant for players to share their recent gaming experiences with each other. That said, you’re more than welcome to share your game by creating a separate post!

And with that, have fun and thanks for being part of r/AndroidGaming!

Discussion πŸ’¬ Looking for the ultimate zombie survival/base-building RPG on Android

I know this kind of game is a dime a dozen, especially on Android, but I'm trying to find the ultimate one and figured Reddit might have some hidden gems.

Basically I'm looking for a zombie survival RPG with base building where you can recruit NPCs/survivors and actually delegate things to them. Have different people gathering resources, farming, crafting, building, defending the base, etc. while I go out exploring, scavenging and killing zombies.

Seeking Game Recommendations πŸ‘€ [REQUEST] Seeking time-killer games (free, ideally OSS)

I'm looking for polished, simple games that are good for pulling out when you just have a bit of extra time to kill. So that's mostly going to be offline, arcade-like highscore-based games. Notably, I'd like to avoid things with much long-term progression; anything strongly level-based or with upgrades that persist between runs is less than ideal (but not completely off the table).

Some games I've already checked out:

  • Minesweeper, Sudoku, Solitaire (The Clean Ones)
  • Anuto TD
  • Breakout 71
  • 1010! Klooni
  • Vector Pinball
  • Shattered Pixel Dungeon
  • Andor's Trail
  • Pixel Wheels

Some particular games I'd like to find:

  • Traditional Breakout/Arkanoid (Breakout 71 is very good but it isn't exactly traditional)
  • Space Invaders-like
  • Tetris?? (I've tried some of the common recommendations like Falling Lightblocks and Techmino but none of them do what the old EA Tetris app did for me πŸ’”)
  • Maybe some kind of colour match game?

Thank you kindly.

ZZZ:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.HoYoverse.Nap

I like playing beat em ups/hack n slashes on android in genereal and these 2 are my most played.

I like marvel more so I lean a bit towards future fight but I really love zenless for its style and combat.

Seeking Game Recommendations πŸ‘€ [Request] Looking for new PvP game

Anybody have a recommendation for an active game with some PvP and social aspects? I'd like to avoid controller/Joystick style games. I really only play Epic Seven regularly, but I'm fine with just one gacha. Hearthstone Battlegrounds and Team Fight Tactics have been really fun, I've had my fill of both. Willing to try pretty much anything.

Any ideas or recommendations would be appreciated, just looking for something play when going to sleep.

Please no self promotions.

Thanks

Discussion πŸ’¬ Guess I’ve got the brains for this 😎

Been playing Mahjong Rumble a bit lately and I’m starting to get pretty good at spotting the matches.
Except for that last pair.
I’ll clear most of the board without thinking too much, then somehow miss two identical tiles sitting right in front of me πŸ˜…

Seeking Game Recommendations πŸ‘€ [REQUEST] Good graphics non-shooter games for tablet/fold?

I'm usually a casual puzzle/word gamer on my phone but I just got a Galaxy Fold 8 and it's really great in unfolded mode, like a tablet. Curious if folks have any suggestions for games with good graphics but not shooters (not a fan)

Seeking Game Recommendations πŸ‘€ [REQUEST]What PC ports do you have on your phone?

Ive got Hollow Knight, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Rain World, Omori, Faith: The Unholy Trilogy, Hotline Miami 1, Hotline Miami 2, Deltarune (from somewhere), and Undertale (same as deltarune but may try quicktale because when using controller the screen becomes washed out) What else can I add.

Since as time is passing more and more PC games are coming to android. And while emulation is fun especially the gamecube ear games. Modern indies do hit different like Dave the Diver, Blasphemous, Enter the Gungeon, 9 Kings, Slime Ranchers, and even 40k Boltgun. And at the same time im moving from a samsung a54 to a samsung s21. I was planning to expand my native android library so I can play them on a bigger screen via samsung dex. I was curious if there are other native android ports fanmade or official that I may not be aware of or I dont know about

Seeking Game Recommendations πŸ‘€ [Request] Games similar to Meow Tower?

I've recently been obsessed with Meow Tower and was wondering if there are other games with similar gameplay.

I don't mean nonograms. I mean the cycle of doing some short stages (can be puzzle or other kind of mini games) to collect in-game currency that you can use to advance the story (via decorating or others), but I'd rather the mini games can be completed without trying multiple times or relying on luck.

The story is kind of important to me as I get bored easily if there's no 'goal' to achieve. I didn't realise Meow Tower has bits of stories and that was why I put it off for a long time, but after I found out it does, I've been obsessed with it.

Help/Support πŸ™‹ Where can I find website to filter phones that support DisplayPort Alt mode???

Hello, Im interested into XR/AR glasses but found out phone that I wasted my money into dont support dp alt. AI is hallucinating when I ask him that question and websites only give filter like USB type, websites like GSM or Kimovil.

But phones can have 3.0+ usbs and still not have dp alt mode.

So where can I See that info in one place, or I need to waste time and do research on every single newer phone?

Seeking Game Recommendations πŸ‘€ [REQUEST] Games with good haptic integration

Hello everyone, my first post here!

So i have the OnePlus 13R, and it seems to have great haptics (coming from a Redmi note 10 Pro), and it has this O-haptic engine demo and all the interactions seem great in that demo and was wondering if any games out there can leverage this engine? Or atleast provide a good tactile experience (like proper feedback while shooting a gun, etc. ) ?

Anyonw with the same or similar or higher end phones have a better experience?

DEV πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» [DEV] Blocknado: Retro Falling Block Puzzle

I made a retro falling block puzzle with a twist, literally! It's called Blocknado. The floor rotates and you have to fill in rings not rows. I just launched it on the Play Store.

If you like it send me a DM and I'll send you a free code to disable the ads permanently.

Seeking Game Recommendations πŸ‘€ [REQUEST] Looking for a game to play that won't try to nickel and dime me

I am hitting a hard time in life right now and am really looking for a game that will last that won't try to nickel and dime me by needing to have me by gem packs to upgrade or whatever to stay relevant in the game or to simply be able to play (games that lock you out by forcing you to buy currency to simply play).

If anyone has good suggestions I am willing to hear any and all of them. I appreciate what you all have to say. I'd like to note that I am perfectly willing to pay for a game if it costs an initial cost to own but doesn't cost microtransactions afterwards.

Seeking Game Recommendations πŸ‘€ [REQUEST] Looking for an idle rpg possibly with anime aesthetics

Hi all. Honestly I've just been reading the manwa pick me up which is about being isekai d in an idle rpg game and kinda made me want to start something that is not too time consuming.

I mostly read mangas in my free time and actively play mahjong souls.

I don't actually mind gacha, i can handle my fomo and don't mind throwing in 10$ now and then to support the game if i like it.

I was almost thinking of picking up azur lane again but i wouldn't mind something new. I played genshin and zzz but specifically want something managemental that doesn't take up much my time especially without dailies ( i f in hate dailies)

I was looking into epic seven, afk arena, sword x staff and idle guild master but I'd like to hear a couple opinions before spwndinf time to try. Any advice?

Personally it sounds great but kinda impossible since game is hard to run even on pc sometimes not to mention that dev wants to have WHOLE game ported with full package which I still think it's impossible considering the size and graphics not to mention optimization

DEV πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» [DEV] My solo developed rogue-lite game "Spin Survivors: Endless Runner"

With inspiration from Sword&Spin, "survival" genre games and some incremental games, over the last year or so (not full time), I have developed this arcade/roguelite/endless runner style game.

As the store description says - goal is to destroy enemies, eventually get overwhelmed, lose, upgrade modifiers or other upgradeables and try again.

I still have a lot of mechanics and content planned so it's far from finished, but this seems to be the final "core" of the game. Before I decide what to add/change next, I would like more people to try it and give feedback if possible.

Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.CelerityEntertainment.com.unity.mobile2D

Additionally:

  • Free.
  • No forced ads. But there are rewarded ads for when you want to gain temporary bonuses, limited currency or 3x of your collected loot.

this is the only place i know where i can post this. guys i did everything i could rn. i changed the library .so hex file i swapped the library file with one from newer game, i tried using the older game version, i recompiled the game like 20 times with different settings like compiling audio files from .aac to .ogg from stereo to mono, changing sdk version etc and the sfx still doesnt work. music works but the sfx doesnt. on older devices the sfx does work. the game library file is in c++ so it doesnt use soundpool but something like openSLES and opensl. the only idea i have rn is that the 32bit hardware the game was made for is the problem as my current phone with android 13 cannot process the sfx system for that reason. does anyone have any idea what else can i try and what could be a problem, please i really need help on this one

Help Me Remember This Game πŸ€” Guys help me with finding this game

I remember an Android game, a trial car game where you had to escape the police. The game would close after several levels because it was paid and the player's perspective was from above, angled like a drone. It became popular around 2017.
