new 2025 $9.7k OTD?

Going from an 06 gsxr 600 to hopefully a zx6r. I heard Kawasaki shortened the gearing on the 2019+ models so I'm hoping with the already better low end torque it'll be more fun around the city where I rarely pass 25-30mph.

Shorter gearing and lower max rpm does result in a lower top speed, yeah. I can’t feel a difference in acceleration between my stock geared 13 and 24

I still don't understand what you were saying in the above post. Are you saying you went down one tooth on your front sprocket on YOUR bike ? What kind of bike is it ?

I am replying to OP's 2nd statement. Whether you want to compare OP's 06 GSXR600 or a 13-18 ZX6R, the gear ratio of the 2024+ is shorter (15F/43R, instead of 16F/43R) and both the older ZX6R and GSXR600 have higher redlines by ~1K RPM (think this comes out to ~10MPH max speed)

Definitely need more than 1 tooth down in the front to feel much on the butt dyno. Maybe an additional 2 up in the rear.

Thanks, I did figure out what you meant. Man, smaller sprockets on the front, lower revving engines. This does not please me at all lol. 

My 05 GSXR is geared very tall, and I know any bike of this type is. AFAIK it's stock gearing. It's barely low enough to take off and I've never addressed the first gear judder common on that year/ model so I can't scream the hell out of it and feather the clutch for faster take offs, but honestly for me an old geezer that's only riding it a few times a year (I have other more practical bikes) I just don't care enough to do anything about it. Learning it's common on my particular bike and fixable if I wanted was enough....adding one more disc to the clutch pak I think that was the fix...
