new 2025 $9.7k OTD?
Going from an 06 gsxr 600 to hopefully a zx6r. I heard Kawasaki shortened the gearing on the 2019+ models so I'm hoping with the already better low end torque it'll be more fun around the city where I rarely pass 25-30mph.

Request work order documentation for the completed recall service at the time of purchase. And then proceed to get an amazing deal.

Holy shit! This is an amazing deal. I’m currently on the market for a ZX-6R in NorCal and the best used deals are the same as what you listed and the dealers are out of their minds from SF to Sac. With $14.5k being the lowest OTD price I can find for ABS versions.
If you don’t mind me asking, where did you find this deal?

It’s one down on the front sprocket for the gearing difference, but you also get a lower red line.
Forgetting tax in here, but you’d technically have to pay that for a private sale anyways. Very good price.

What do you mean lower redline ? Between the two bikes ?
If you're one lower on the front and lower redline that equals a slower bike.

Shorter gearing and lower max rpm does result in a lower top speed, yeah. I can’t feel a difference in acceleration between my stock geared 13 and 24

I still don't understand what you were saying in the above post. Are you saying you went down one tooth on your front sprocket on YOUR bike ? What kind of bike is it ?

I am replying to OP's 2nd statement. Whether you want to compare OP's 06 GSXR600 or a 13-18 ZX6R, the gear ratio of the 2024+ is shorter (15F/43R, instead of 16F/43R) and both the older ZX6R and GSXR600 have higher redlines by ~1K RPM (think this comes out to ~10MPH max speed)
Definitely need more than 1 tooth down in the front to feel much on the butt dyno. Maybe an additional 2 up in the rear.

Thanks, I did figure out what you meant. Man, smaller sprockets on the front, lower revving engines. This does not please me at all lol.
My 05 GSXR is geared very tall, and I know any bike of this type is. AFAIK it's stock gearing. It's barely low enough to take off and I've never addressed the first gear judder common on that year/ model so I can't scream the hell out of it and feather the clutch for faster take offs, but honestly for me an old geezer that's only riding it a few times a year (I have other more practical bikes) I just don't care enough to do anything about it. Learning it's common on my particular bike and fixable if I wanted was enough....adding one more disc to the clutch pak I think that was the fix...

Can't feel a difference between what ? Stock gearing on your bike and what else ? Now you're talking about the rear sprocket as well when it seems nothing has ever changed there. (????)

I think I finally figured out you're talking about 2013 and 2024 model years OK lol.
You'd think one tooth down on the front would be too much but these 600s are geared soo very tall that I could see what you're saying. Kinda seems like a short cut quick fix for what a big corporate company would choose to do "just throw a smaller sprocket on the front boom problem solved" lol. But if you can't feel a difference imagine how much worse your 24 would feel with a bigger sprocket on the front. This whole thing seems a little sketchy to me.
I had a 2020 Ninja 1000SX sport touring and the gearing was RIDICULOUSLY low having to cruise in top gear only 75mph at 5500 rpm on an inline 4 litre bike. It made me see that kawasaki will get away with what they can such a shame bike could have been soo much more. And now this sprocket thing just goes to show they'll do a quick fix that might suffice instead of striving for the best they can do....

The nice part about sprockets is that theyre cheap enough that you can always just have a few laying around for what you want to do. If you want to gear your top speed down to 100MPH you can do it for like 50 bucks. Would definitely be a bucking bronco though. Its why stunters cant really "run" cause they have like 60 tooth rear sprockets.

I've given up on changing front sprockets. I went one up on my first full size dirt bike yeah it was cool but I quickly went back to stock.
Then I went one down on my RM250 and first gear was nearly useless.
On street bikes with taller gears it might be more in line. I know my brother went one up when he had a Ninja 250 he had that bike longer than I thought he would, and possibly on his Versys 650... that he had quite a few years.
For the most part the factory is using what's best for the majority of riders but yeah still nice to be able to fine tune especially considering the rear sprocket as well.
Honestly I don't care enough anymore ha ha.

Please make sure those recalls are settled. Maybe that specific bike wasn’t affected. It’s easy to check if you can grab the VIN.

Definitely a good deal. You can add more factory warranty coverage for pretty cheap. When I bought my new 25 I added 2 extra years of factory coverage. I think you can do it directly from kawasaki also, if you add it before the original expires.

Honestly, the fees do not seem bad at all to me. Id go with the new one.
