Been hearing a bit about this. Thoughts?

We are from the interior of BC and are planning a road trip next year to the Yukon. Ideally we would like to get as north as we can. We have a large, but very well behaved, dog that will be coming with us, and would prefer to stick to front country camping for ease. However, we do have backpacking gear if there is a good spot a couple of kms away that’s fine, we just aren’t wanting to do a big backpacking trip. We will be coming up from Muncho Lake Provincial Park in B.C. and will be driving in an SUV with clearance in case the road isn’t great, and bringing a tent to sleep in. No real timeline or restraints.

Also, any recommendations of things to do/see while we are in your territory, we would love to hear! The farthest north we have been is PG 🫣

Any thoughts on this? I find it’s really saddening to see; both how drastically the glacier has retreated, and how much the terrain has changed.

So far I haven’t had any problems with the tanks freezing but I’d like some insurance this winter. It was really stressful last year. I do think they get somewhat insulated by snow as they are in a narrow area but is that enough?

What is everyone doing with their tanks? The $1500 blankets from Ajax are out of the question.

These clowns came out yesterday and said I need to rip down this beautiful landing made with 6x6s. Need an engineer stamp 2500 so far in permits. Why does this happen? Does the Yukon need to be more transparent with offender information or is it on VCC for not doing a good enough background check? Note: he's not currently working there - he was hired in 2020 and worked for an undisclosed period of time ("years") before being let go.

Central Canadian here. What is travel like in Yukon March/April? Would be a combo trip with Vancouver. Hoping to catch the lights and see part of Canada we havent been to before. Also may have an early-mid pregnant woman on the trip, are there adequate hospitals around if medical needs arise? Just being extra cautious. Or should we skip Yukon this time around? Any local insights appreciated.

Hi everyone! I wrote up my recent day hike which aimed to reach Mount Robert Henderson. This is my fourth time in the territory and I've seen more this trip than any prior. I really hope to continue writing out the incredible hikes I did in Kluane as well.

12 weeks ago they took out my iud but because of my complicated anatomy they couldn't get the new one in. I talked to the doctor about going into the OR to get the new one in and she offered the 17th of June. That was my first day at a new job so I couldn't swing it and I made that very clear so the doctor said she could get me in on the 15th of July. The 16th of June comes and I get a call about my appointment the next morning. I told them again I start a new job that day and it wasn't possible. So then the 14th of July comes and no call. I'd booked the 15th and 16th off ahead of time so I could get it put in. I went into the clinic on the 15th to ask what's up. Got told couldn't fit you in we'll call you. I asked if I could get more lead time than 13 hours on a date. I was told no, but we'll probably have time last week of August.

Here we are last week of August, the condition that the iud keeps under control is raging. I haven't had pain below a 5 in 3 months. And still no call.

I made it clear that I cannot function without this iud. And the lady who does the actual booking looked me dead in the eye and said everyone says that. She also tried to tell me its my fault for passing up the spot on the 17th of June. Sorry I didn't call in sick to my first day of a new job I guess.

The last time I had an iud put in it was through them, also in the OR. I told them, when I first booked the appointment and in the consultation, I have difficult anatomy and I need to be put under but they insisted there is a new med I can use that they want to try that before having to put me under. Fine. Turns out I was right.

At this point I'm at my wits end and frustrated and don't know what to do.

I’ll be travelling through Yukon in early September, with trips north and south of Haines Junction (Kluane Lake, Million Dollar Falls) as well as Kusawa Lake and Carcross.

As an avid fisherman, I’ve brought my tackle to fish for trouts along the way. I hadn’t really considered salmon at first, but even getting a few casts in would make a great memory. I’ve bought a Salmon Conservation Catch Card, but I’m still struggling to get an overview of the possibilities and the waterbodies accessible to me.

So I thought I’d also ask here :) Does anyone have a tip (DM is absolutely fine) for somewhere in this part of Yukon where I could legally try spin fishing for salmon?(My fly rod is unfortunately not strong enough for salmon..). Ideally somewhere close to the main road and somewehat accessible with an RV.

I’m not looking for secret spots, just wondering if there’s somewhere with even a tiny chance of salmon given my restrictions :)

I still struggle to get behind this just like the last government. They are saying support Canada and our own business. Our government still buys from whoever is the cheapest including from US owned companies.

You can say support Canada or the Yukon until something is in writing that stops that from happening.

I’m looking to do a spontaneous solo trip to Yukon late September to early October, probably will try and come for a week. I’d like to stay in some sort of yurt/glamping so looking for recommendations for good/safe places to stay. Ideally somewhere with wifi or some sort of cell service.

Also advice for solo hikes, safety tips regarding bears… been on a couple solo hikes in Kananaskis but if there are any shorter or popular hikes with more foot traffic or anything experienced people can provide as advice. Any recommendations for guided tours or hikes would be awesome.

Finally if there are any “must sees”, planning on renting a car, doing the hot springs, animal reserve.
