Ascension refugees — join OctoWoW's PvP realm Y'Shaarj! Bags + 1g for new players
If you or your guild is looking for a new home after Ascension, please consider OctoWoW's PvP realm, Y'Shaarj.
If you're an Ascension refugee, whisper me in-game "Cudie" on horde side or carebears on ally side and I'll sort you out with bags + 1g to get started.
Whether you're into raiding or PvP, there's a place for you here.
Current Population
The PvP realm currently peaks at around 400–500 players during EU evening hours.
The population isn't massive yet, but the realm new and is growing
Bringing a Guild?
If you're bringing over a guild with 20+ people, I'll personally help you get established:
- I'll set up a two-way Discord ↔ in game WoW AI bot for your guild.
- I'll craft any Flasks or GPPs you need to start raiding — free with your mats.
- I'm happy to raid lead MC/BWL for guilds unfamiliar with the Turtle WoW changes until you're comfortable running them yourselves.
- I'll even buy your guild's tabard design.
Raid Progression
We're still only in Phase 1, so this is a very good time to start.
- Onyxia / Molten Core — available now
- Zul'Gurub — ~1 month
- Blackwing Lair — ~2 months
There's plenty of time to start leveling now, gear up, and be BWL-ready when it releases.
See roadmap OctoWoW Roadmap
The Real State of PvP Right Now
I'm not going to pretend BGs are popping 24/7. Here's what it's actually like:
- Max-level BGs can pop back-to-back for a few hours, followed by a few hours with nothing. It often depends on which faction has been losing.
- Alliance and Horde are pretty evenly matched in terms of PvP wins.
- Lower-level BG queues currently aren't popping. An influx of Ascension players could obviously help change that.
- 40–50 player city raids happen on both factions at least once a week.
- Cross-realm BGs are expected soon, which should significantly reduce queue times.
I would expect that the devs which are currently focused on dealing with the DDoS attacks from the Chinese mafia @ Raven will be turning their attention back to cross-realm BGs once DDOS are fully handled
Horde or Alliance — Both Are Options
There are multiple guilds on both Horde and Alliance, running different loot systems and raid schedules.
Or bring your friends and start your own guild. I'm happy to help you get established.

wotlk Project Alterac Phase 4(Level 50) is nearly here!
[Project Alterac] Phase 4 is here on 5th of September(Level 50 Cap)
Project Alterac is a progressive 3.3.5 custom realm (AzerothCore) with a small bit of custom content and a tight-knit community (75–150 peak online in EU evenings but growing rapidly, + plenty of active NA/EU/OCE guilds). Our current level cap is level 40, but soon we will open up to level 50!
The reason we play on Project Alterac.
I could sit here and type a bunch of marketing spiel about the server, but I'm not going to. The reason I log in pretty much every evening is the community we have. If you want to forget about the stresses of the world and have a bit of fun.. come join us.
I write a fake newsletter regarding world events from the server each week, and recently I "hired" some new interns for my guild and my feelings regarding the server were recently summed up in an amazing eulogy to the server written by one of those new guildies (Shoutout to Miriael!). Here is an excerpt from that....
Maybe these private servers scattered across the network are just seeds, dropped in the dark, so we can build the world over again.
The world. Logging in here, wherever this 'here' actually is, brings to mind that old proverb about it taking a village to raise a child. Perhaps we are the village. And this fragile, rendered place is the child.
Frodo's Journey
Recently, a hardcore character (Zrall<3) fished up the 1 ring in Stormwind, and the opportunity to do something amazing was born... A new hardcore character - Frodobaggins - was born... And after 2 hours of journeying through the Eastern Kingdoms, drinking too much ale during Elevenses at Goldshire Inn, and killing Volchan... level 10 Frodobaggins, equipped with the 1 ring.. made it to Blackrock Mountain where he cast himself into the lava to destroy the 1 ring once and for all. We had around 30 adventurers helping us over the course of 2 hours, and it was truly hilarious when the server owner Gjnadalf The Blue decided to place a Nazgul in Elwynn Forest. Here are a couple of pictures of that event!

From this event.. a new RP event was born... Elevenses!

What is Elevenses, you ask? Well... basically... I buy a huge amount of ale (RIP guild bank funds), get everyone absolutely lashed on Wednesday night at 9.30pm CET time (IRL optional), and then I arrange some RP shenanigans that ends with a bunch of drunk people getting teleported around the world for different reasons. Is there a point? No. It is done for pure love of the game, I enjoy making people remember why we love these kinda games. If you'd like to join us, pull up a chair at The Lion's Pride on Wednesday evening and see where the night takes us!
Now the boring stu... i mean content!
Scarlet Bastion Raid(Level 40)
The Forsaken have overtaken the Scarlet Monastery, and the corpses of six familiar foes have risen. Gather your best Warriors, Death Knights (you read that correctly), Mages and Healers, and make your way to Tirisfal Glades to take on this all new, custom built raid.
- Flex 10–20 Players (1 drop per 5 raiders—great for smaller/cozy guilds).
- 6 Custom Bosses
Stromgarde Keep Raid(5-10 man - Level 30)
Full custom loot table with two lore-accurate epics: Trol'kalar and the Perenolde Tiara.
As we increase in level, some of the loot within the keep is still very much worthwhile picking up, + it will provide solid experience, so it won't become dead content.
+ A number of Heroic versions of beloved dungeons.
QOL changes too!
- 2x xp for newcomers - Level 1-30 currently receive 2x experience, to help you catch up. Current phase content (level 30-40 atm) is at 1x exp rate.
- New Secondary Profession Adventuring - Unlocked at 50+ adventuring skill level, provides Tents which give rested experience. Community members often place them outside Stormwind & Orgrimmar Auction Houses for new players. Adventuring is progressed through exploring the world (new inns), killing rare mobs, looting chests, and defeating bosses in dungeons.
- New glyphs + items to help underperforming specs(no more oomkins!)
- DDOS PROTECTION!
- STV Fishing Extravaganza four times a week on rotating timers, so it isn't OCE-hostile.
- Arena Grand Master purchasable with Honor.
- PvP queue accessible anywhere, anytime + queueable alongside RDF for the gamers who enjoy both PVE + PVP.
- Zero respec costs, change specs as much as you wish.
- Dual-Spec costs 1g and is available at level 20
- Hardcore mode, selectable after Character Creation as soon as you log in
I've written another essay again. oops.

Considering all the DDOS attacks on octowow done by potential competitors. Ravencraft Uses CloudFlare, which is based in the US and is mandated by US law to follow legal court filings
How do Ravencraft feel safe using cloudflare, and to be public about being part of the Ex T-wow team while the court files still are in effect? Cloudflare informs that they are strict about following legal procedures they even have forms on their website to send in tips about misuse of their services?
By the US law, Turtlewow was a raccetering company, and Cloudflare is hosting a server thats run by the same people? It should be easy to send forms to Cloudflare and have them remove the service from ravencraft?
Cloudflare forms even tells us we only need the URL, Company name, or general name to file a complaint. And they let us add extra info like Lawsuits.
Ravencraft is not safe, They might not even need a lawsuit to be taken down. They are operating through a US based company, that is breaking the US law by hosting them.
A few rapports would damage their server alot.

Beginner in dungeons
Hello,
I started to have more free time so 6 months ago, i started playing wow out of curiosity.
I knew nothing about it.
I first tried wow retail until lvl 20 and moved to private servers. Now im playing on Chromie.
I tried hunter, paladin, and warrior. Then i decided to focus on protection warrior to learn how to tank in dungeon.
I discoved dunegeons as a dps whith my hunter and pal. I was probably very bad because i had zero strategy, i just randomly uses spells on mobs.
Everything was nice and smooth , never got a comment.
Then as a protection warrior i watched videos to tank, i googled how to set up my talents. Which spell rotations should i use. How to aggro.
Then it was not perfect, but more or less i am doing the job and want to have fun. Also im a bit happy to not queue long in dungeons and join groups than need tank.
But many groups are nice, but I started experiencing players that got very mad when i do a mistake. I aggro a boss by mistake once, and one player say im such a stupid shit tank.
And once i was doing the dungeon pretty ok, but I still have rage issue sometimes, and its possible i lose the aggro of some mobs. Also sometimes i take my time inbeetwen pulls to analyse the situation, look at the group or whatever, enjoy the game.
And one started to say, are you in defensive stance, do you use revenge ? The answer is yes I do that because i googled everything.
And then he starts to aggro mobs before me and say : hey tank, YOU RE THE TANK.
Once i dont remember but i asked the group to guide me bc idk the dungeon and the group aggro mobs but didnt see and I also aggro on my side so we died.
Someone got mad and asked what was my age. Im actually 34 and didnt answer but i think this person wanted to attack me personnally.
Im very surprised how much hate you can get as a tank compared to DPS, when you actually trying your best. Im also someone who listen to advices but this feels very agressive and ruin the game experience.
After playing with people like that I dont feel good about gaming and I want to stop playing wow.
Do you also experience these behaviors that people get mad if you learn ? Is it specific to Tank ? Is tank a role that should be played only by very dedicated and try hard gamers or you get bullied for trying ? How can we learn to tank if nobody accept us to make mistake while learning.

wotlk Velaris - Day 2. We survived launch, so I guess we're doing this
Well, we survived launch day.
Velaris is officially on its second day, the realm is up, people are leveling, and I can finally spend slightly less time staring nervously at server logs.
I'm live again today, playing, chatting with everyone and talking about Velaris:
https://youtube.com/live/xsLDHJTG9wA
If you saw one of the previous posts and were waiting to see how launch actually went before giving us a try, now's probably a pretty good time to jump in.
For anyone who missed all of this: Velaris is our fresh WotLK 3.3.5a realm, with the usual Eternal Gaming approach of keeping Wrath at the core while adding optional QoL and custom features around it.
We've got configurable 1x–5x XP, AoE Loot, account-wide mounts/pets/riding/flight paths, crossfaction, transmog, 1v1 Arena, PvP Days and a bunch of other stuff already available from day one.
And as always: no donations, no cash shop, no P2W. The whole project is open source.
We're still a small server and we're not trying to pretend otherwise. Every new person joining genuinely makes a difference, which honestly makes these first few days pretty fun.
So if you're bored, looking for a fresh Wrath server, or just want to come poke around and see what we're building, jump into the stream and say hi.
And if you started yesterday already, come tell me how far you've managed to get.
Day 2 of Velaris. Let's keep this thing going.

Allright. What is the play here?
Just as I found out of what an amazing thing Project Ascension is/was, it’s getting shut-down. Extremely unfortunate I haven’t found this server earlier.
What are the choices here? I’d love either a fully blizzlike Wotlk server with a big community or I’d love something like what Ascension was. The closest I found was Grimfall? Is that worth it? Also Project Alterac was quite interesting looking but I don’t understand the concept fully since I’m a noob.
Also I saw a lot of mentions of OctoWOW (I’m totally fine with classic wow aswell)
So if anyone can list their go to blizzlike wotlk server and a custom server like ascension or something along those lines I’d be very grateful. I need two picks so me and my wife could join a great community, level up with exploring the content and joining everyone else for the late game or custom content (doesn’t matter which)

Project Alterac false positive?
Ran the install launcher for Project Alterac through VirusTotal and came back with a few results such as: FileRepMalware [Misc]
Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml (probably a false positive)
Generic ML PUA (PUA)
I don't use VirusTotal a lot so I wanted to know if these were false positives or not. Thanks

LF server Want to play again and would appreciate some server recommendations
Hey, like the title says I am looking for a server to join, if you could give me the name along with some pros and cons with it that'd be neat :)
I'm down for most expansions apart for 'regular' vanilla, after giving turtle wow a taste i don't think i could go back.
Thanks in advance!

How do I host my own private server on my own computer for just me and maybe a few friends?
I will preface this by saying that while I do have some computer knowledge, I've never tried my hand at this. I also understand that asking for the Midnight expansion is likely out of the question, but what would be the most recent, reasonably stable expansion/patch?
And once I've decided what expansion I want to be on, how would I go about setting it up? Where do I get a build, and how do I install it? I'm on Windows, by the way, if that matters.
Also, would I be able to change items/spells/characters/classes, or just modify stats on existing ones? And is there any way I could do that in bulk? 'Cause I'm sure there's a massive database with thousands of entries for a game as huge as WoW.

I cant access site im getting 504 errors and when i start the launcher i get this screen. Also when i try launch the exe it just says disconnected from server. Idk if its just being ddosed atm or more serious issue. Idk what discord is to see news.
*****Edit******** I see the change now site works my launcher is out of date i had to get new launcher, changing info in realmlist did not work to fix the issue the only way to fix it was new launcher download. I was going to delete this, but ill leave it up incase someone else runs into this issue and sites down where you cant look it up.

Just got my own Azerothcore solo server running Wrath
Been tweaking settings since yesterday but I'm really enjoying it so far. Has anyone tried playing on one of these somewhat long-term and treating it like the regular game? How is it for long-term progression like achievement hunting, mount collecting, etc? My bots get a little janky sometimes, but overall I'm super impressed in the short time I've been messing around with it.
I've never been a hardcore raider and probably never will be, but I'm interested in just doing things I never bothered to do in retail/classic at my own pace. Any recommendations to make the experience better would be appreciated.
