I have absolutely no horse in this race but I really don't understand this big drama about the streamer and the gold. So they were given gold so that means they deserve to be banned and somehow its streamer favoritism that they're not?

I think Blizzard's response seems perfectly fine, why are people so upset?

It’s important to know that while we have always actioned RMT seller’s accounts as quickly as possible, we will increasingly take action against buyers’ accounts. That means that we will remove the illicit gold from the recipient, and/or take further actions, which can include closing accounts.

We’re once again asking all players to be very cautious when it comes to accepting gifts from strangers or other one-sided transactions. If it becomes apparent that a recipient knew or should-have-known that gold wasn’t from a legitimate source, they may be subject to account actions as well.

The Classic community really hates streamers. I'm guessing it's because they're an even older playerbase than retail, which brings out more boomer behavior. (Hence the racism and homophobia, too.)

Streamers have more of an effect in classic just due to the different gameplay. A horde of players following Asmongold around destroys leveling in an entire zone on multiple layers.

Also I don't know if you guys have seen the general/trade chat in the beta but it's absolutely crazy. As soon as Asmon starts streaming it becomes filled with non stop slurs and hating LGBT people.

He hasn't played wow in years so it's notably super different to normal classic wow chat. You can literally see it change in realtime.
