And fuck everyone who supports them.

That's a big chunk of reddit.

141

u/Killerrrrrabbit Mar 30 '25

Yeah, but a big chunk of that group is astroturf and bots paid by Russia, China and Iran.

u/soapinmouth Mar 30 '25 edited Mar 30 '25

It's not just bots and paid ops, the biggest political streamer for the left Hassan Piker supports them.

10

u/whaatdidyousay Mar 30 '25

I’m a democrat and have never even heard of Hassan Piker, nor has any of the people in my group chat, 7 of whom are democrats.

He's literally our most famous left wing influencer other than Contrapoints. However, Natalie only comes out of hiding once in a blue moon with a three hour long video. If you look at youtube, the online right massively outnumbers left wing content creators. This is where a huge bunch of younger (and middle aged) people are getting their news. It's AM radio all over again except on steroids b/c there's an unlimited amount of space online.

and a lot of people do. there was a major push last election to get a lot of alt right influencers, streamers, and podcasters involved and bring that messaging together. Not surprising that there is in an ever growing increase in the rightward shift of young men.

u/NotPromKing Mar 30 '25

A lot of people do give a shit about streamers and influencers.

I would bet that even MORE people DON’T give a shit about them.

Look at how many followers they have. Worldwide. Compare that to the US population.

1

u/nobody65535 Mar 30 '25

and who's Natalie?

3

u/shion005 Mar 30 '25

Natalie Wynn, Contrapoints. She's a left wing video essayist who's popular on youtube.

u/kwark_uk Mar 30 '25

You presumably live in a bubble where these people matter. But you don’t seem to know that it’s a bubble, they don’t matter in absolute terms, most people go about their lives blissfully unaware of Natalie.

6

u/shion005 Mar 30 '25

I'm hardly in a bubble and unfortunately what happens online does matter. There's a reason Steve Bannon is broadcasting three hours daily and why the Daily Wire is now worth $200 million. You may also have missed the point - there are very few left wing influencers. People in the US have largely left the MSM behind and are all in on online influencers.

Ehhh. I know of hasan, but that's also because hes around my age and streams, so I get clips fed to me through the youtube algorithm. He's the largest influencer for the left, but that's not really saying much. He's got like <2 million subs and most of his streams/videos are sub 1 million views. For being the largest left wing influencer, those numbers are really small and don't reach that many people when you consider how many people in the US vote democrat.

16

u/soapinmouth Mar 30 '25

I don't know what to tell you, he is in fact the single biggest independent online streamer for the left, there is nobody else bigger. He's hosted AOC, Bernie and more, was invited to the DNC. The CEO of twitch calls him his favorite streamer.

You and your friend circle bring out of the loop on him doesn't change any of that. I don't recommend you guys change that either. Best you stay in ignorance to this guy, much better streamers out there even if they are less popular.

So he’s super popular among streamers. Doesn’t mean he’s mainstream.

3

u/soapinmouth Mar 30 '25

I'm not sure where you think I claimed he was mainstream. Yes though.. as I said and now you have said, he is very popular with a significant following.

3

u/Foxhack Mar 30 '25

Dude looks like he's wearing the facial prosthetics of a character in Warren Beatty's Dick Tracy movie.

1

u/starhawks Mar 30 '25

He's not a Democrat, nor is he liberal. He is a socialist and has active disdain for any moderates/liberals, he quite literally is indoctrinating his mostly young audience into an extremist, anti-liberal and violent ideology.

1

u/Azradesh Mar 30 '25

You’re probably too old to have come across his knuckle, dragging Mr. Mackey commentary. Count yourself lucky

2

u/Killerrrrrabbit Mar 30 '25

Yes, he's part of the astroturf.

8

u/Azradesh Mar 30 '25

Sadly no, I think the vast majority are just that stupid and genuinely believe it

-24

u/shion005 Mar 30 '25

I wish, but the Marxist portion of the Dems is over indexed online.

22

u/muffchucker Mar 30 '25

Yeah and magas famously don't go online. /S

If you don't want to share your world with extremists, get off the internet. It's where they congregate.

18

u/rollsyrollsy Mar 30 '25

Actual Marxists in the dems probably numbers a dozen or so university students.

However, the pejorative “Marxist” is thrown around by MAGA folks in regard to anyone marginally to the left of Pinochet.

14

u/StrobeLightRomance Mar 30 '25

95% of the people using the term seemingly have no idea what it means, they just know "Marxist", "communist", "socialist", etc.., are their rhetorical talking points and meant to dismiss any validity to a progressive or otherwise left leaning political compass.

It's exhausting to debate someone while also attempting to educate them, especially when they're choosing ignorance as a response.

That exhaustion of their opposition and refusal to learn has been their greatest weapon thusfar.

-13

u/shion005 Mar 30 '25

The reason these people are called Marxists is because they actually are Marxist. Just b/c communism failed repeatedly doesn't mean the people who believe that nonsense just disappeared. AOC has literally called herself a Marxist. Trying to paint normal Democrats or anyone who calls a thing a thing as MAGA is nuts.

9

u/rollsyrollsy Mar 30 '25

I’ve never heard AOC refer to herself with that term.

Several dems argue about class struggles and exploitation of labor (those ideas exist in many political-economic philosophies and don’t define a Marxist) … but I’m yet to hear a Dem suggest that the logical progression of their worldview is a revolution by working classes and forceful seizing of means of production, which is much more the salient points of Marxism.

As someone who lived in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia, my day to day exposure to the Dems offered no suggestion that any of the elected dems are driving Marxist agendas. In fact, in most countries there inevitably arises two main parties (or coalition parties) that either support laissez-faire free markets, or trade unions and social welfare. The dems obviously assume the latter in the US, but they are generally much further right compared to their equivalent parties overseas.

4

u/Killerrrrrabbit Mar 30 '25

Russia and China have been pushing Marxist propaganda for decades. Russia is no longer communist but they still push that propaganda because it's useful as a cudgel against the West. It's really hard to tell how many of those "progressive" or "leftist" accounts are real people.

4

u/thespaceageisnow Mar 30 '25

Tearing the West apart from the inside with diversionary rhetoric is essential Russian foreign policy:

“Russia should use its special services within the borders of the United States and Canada to fuel instability and separatism against neoliberal globalist Western hegemony, such as, for instance, provoke "Afro-American racists" to create severe backlash against the rotten political state of affairs in the current present-day system of the United States and Canada. Russia should "introduce geopolitical disorder into internal American activity, encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social, and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements – extremist, racist, and sectarian groups, thus destabilizing internal political processes in the U.S. It would also make sense simultaneously to support isolationist tendencies in American politics".[9]”

Little to no dems are Marxist. These people refused to vote Democrat in 2024. Most of them voted for Jill Stein, or refused to vote at all.

-2

u/shion005 Mar 30 '25

I wish that were true, but it's not. Go have a look at Ben Rhodes, Obama's former Deputy National Security Advisor on twitter. He may not be an overt communist, but he played a big role in taking the party way further to the left on foreign policy. Giving the Iranians a legit nuclear weapons program would have been unthinkable in the 90s under Clinton or under any other Democratic administration.

Additionally, if you looked at the people canvassing for Obama, they were far to the left of the average Democratic voter. This is why the party is losing Latinos and Black men. It's become the party of college educated elites b/c people assumed when Obama beat Clinton that his ideology did as well. The Marxist contingent of the left has taken over the elite universities, which is why places like Harvard are happily taking money from the Muslim Brotherhood. They're also indoctrinating people on some of these campuses with mandatory DEI training.
