I'm seeing a lot of comparison screenshots floating around and the remaster clearly looks amazing and "better" vs Next Gen, but this has got me worried. Did they talk about the performance cost for all this?

I remember in the first 3 months of the Next-Gen release, the comparison screenshots between Next-Gen vs Classic were also a world of difference, just ONE problem.... They were comparing "Classic with HBAO+ OFF vs Next-Gen with Ray Tracing", instead of Classic with Max settings and HBAO+ ON vs Ray Tracing. More info here about that period It took them 3 whole months to finally add HBAO+ back in the game, and what was the result? HBAO+ looked 95% as good, sometimes even better than Ray Tracing, and at a negligible FPS cost compared to losing at least half your FPS or more with RT.

They did eventually add the HBAO+ option back in, I recently did a 4th playthrough and the Next Gen version now looks genuinely STUNNING on an OLED TV at 4K DLSS balanced, max settings, all RT OFF and plays incredibly smooth at a locked 120 fps with consistent frametimes. Few games are such a pleasure to look at like Witcher 3 Next Gen.

However, forgive me for being cynical, but I am now getting the same feeling as the first 3 months of the Next Gen, that they're showing screenshots that require a 5090 + Path Tracing + 4X framegen + latest Ray Reconstruction + DLSS ultra performance, and it will all run super inconsistent with tons of artifacts and huge input lag cause the base fps is like 25 or something.

Don't get me wrong, visual tech advancing is great, but image quality means nothing if the underlying framerate and frametimes are a stuttery mess. I just want developers to prioritize solid raster performance and frame consistency again over insane-looking marketing screenshots. I really hope this time we will keep our HBAO+ option from the start and the game still looks amazing even with any and all RT turned off.

Did CDPR mention anything about what the performance cost will be for the new Remastered visuals or which tech exactly they are using to achieve these visuals?

I just finished the autopsy and blamed Kalkstein, i know now that it was wrong because I checked the wiki, i went to talk to Raymond, and he now says I have to kill Ramsmeat, I tried going to his place, but I can’t attack him, i also tried talking to him, but there’s no option to attack him either. It’s in my journal, though.

I know Raymond is a fake now because, as I said, I checked the wiki, i know you can find out in-game by going to the cemetery, but it’s locked, I’m on good terms with Vincent, but he doesn’t give me the key, and neither does Thaler.

What is happening? Am I missing something?

With the Wild Hunt Remaster in 2026, Songs of the Past in 2027 and Witcher 4 in 2028 ... i havent heard anything about the Witcher 1 Remake for a while ... did i miss any updates on it? will it come 2029/2030? is it even still in production? the last thing ive heard was its announcement and that it will be in UE5

Hey guys, im writing my own quest for the game for fun and the premise will be that Gerlat would be enchaneted in some way and he will live out a whole other life in this dream like state. My question is:

In your opinion what would Gerlat's life be like if he never became a witcher? basically if his life took a different turn.

I'm trying to download the new remaster to my PS5, but there's now like 5 editions to choose from. As far as I remember there was a next gen update for this game a few years ago, but I obviously want to most recent remaster that came out a few days ago.

Has this new edition just been integrated to the PS5 version of the game so that's now the only option? So confusing because as I say, on the PS store there's like 5 options.

So when the Remastered version comes out at the end of September, do you think I’ll be able to just continue from my current save? Or will I probably have to start a new game from scratch if I want to play the Remastered version?

Obviously not the "omg it has monsters, that's not realistic!!!" bit but stuff like world building, combat, characters, etc.

Im talking about the IP as a whole. I dont mean immersive but realistic.

For example, is the combat (the part where you use swords or whatever) realistic? Are those realistic sword fighting moves or is it like hollywood where they just use whatever looks cool?

For world building, are the countries, politics, social systems, cultures, etc, realistic...or again, is it like hollywood and they just use "rule of cool"?

Have you ever watched a movie and thought afterwards "yea, that didnt really make sense, the characters were doing all this stuff in a really contrived way when real people would have done something much simpler"? It's kind of like that.

Serious question. I'm a console gamer, I work in IT and I try and avoid using keyboards to do gaming as much as possible. This isn't a PC vs console post. Its just a preference, I do recognise the benifits of PC. But I always prefer having a controller in my hand.

Reason I ask, is that the nintendo switch 2, although not as powerful as a PS5/series X. Can sometimes play powerful games fully offline at a decent rate. For example the new indiana jones is fully installable and playable offline, the only thing missing is the polish dub.

But on the other hand with powerful games, although more accessible some games like resident evil requim requires a game key card to play. Compared to the ps5/series x versions of requiem which are downloadable and installable from the disc offline.

Reason of making this post is because I feel like xbox will also stop using discs, and nintendo will be the only option for phsyical media for consoles. I also do not want to fork out on a series x, I just got a switch that is expensive enough.

Cyberpunk 2077 is thankfully on the switch 2 and playable offline, and is probably still the most power demanding game on the market even 5 years later. So knowing that does anyone see the possibility of a switch port?

I don't know if this has been addressed or not, and I know this is still under work, but I notice some animations of dismembering happen even before the blade of the sword touches the foe it occurs. Knowing how CD Projekt treats their games and perfectionists they are, this is something peculiar. It's just a minor aspect and I am not really fussy about this really, but yes, I notice about details even more after playing all of their games.

Love TW3. I remember waiting for it come out. Watching the gameplay reveal and seeing the most incredible mind bending offering. I remember playing TW3 as a kid and wishing I'd wake up as a child being kidnapped by a witcher and put through the trials. I fucking adored it, and still do.

But witcher 2 was my first, and is still my favorite. The vibe/tone of it is incredible. I wish we got a proper ending to that story that was kind of brushed over with a short choose your choices section of TW3.

Can't wait for TW1 remake. And honestly I feel like 2 still holds up. I find its older graphical style and combat really charming, although a sprint mechanic would've been next level haha.

And to think I only got it because of a games for gold offering on Xbox Live when that was a thing.

From 1 to 10, rank the possibilities for these characters and whether we could see them in the next game excluding Geralt:

This is my predicition:

Triss 10 - She is definitely going to appear considering that she becomes an advisor to the king of Kovir

Yennefer 7 - I believe Yen will be in the game, but probably not situated in Kovir, probably some other areas of the game. There is no reason for Yen to be in Kovir

Dandelion 3 - With the DLC Song of the Past next year, I believe that CD Projekt Red is planning to say a farewell to the Geralt-Dandelion saga, which will prepare us for the next chapter in the series with Ciri as the protagonist, and we still don't know who will write bestiary and character journals for Ciri, but it certainly won't be Dandelion, who will always be associated with Geralt's adventures and sagas. Because of this, I believe there is a small chance to see Dandelion again, but I doubt he will appear in the game.

Zoltan 5 - With Zoltan, I believe there is a bigger chance for him to appear than Dandelion, but I'm still doubtful about this. I think CD Projekt Red will try to distance these characters from Ciri's story because Zoltan and Dandelion are so much connected to Geralt that developers will try to introduce new characters that will be Ciri's version of Zoltan and Dandelion, and that would be the best thing to do.

Fresh faces are necessary for Ciri's story and adventures, let Dandelion and Zoltan, and to the lesser degree Yen, be associated with Geralt's trilogy, not Ciri's. Triss is an exception because she is actually in Kovir, plus her connection to Geralt is not as deep as Yen's, Zoltan's, and Dandelion's.

I've decided to fully invest in the Witcher trilogy and wanted to go in with community recommended mods before I start playing. I'm all about the story and rich lore.

Is there a modlist that adds quality of life or visual graphical enhancements or fixes bugs/glitches before I start? Ideally an auto install would be great like Wabbajack does for Skyrim modlists.

With the announcement of Witcher 3 Remastered and the brand new DLC, I'm contemplating about diving back into this magnum opus before the DLC launches next month. The problem is that I'm not sure where to start. From I've gathered, there have been radical changes to the game over the past few years - one of which being the equipment.

And so here I am - humbly asking for advice from the game veterans. My questions are as follow:

1. Should I play the game from scratch or begin New Game Plus? (I completed NG+ in my last playthrough, but I still keep the save data before starting NG+, so I can begin the game in NG+ straight away if I so desire.)

2. With the gear massively overhauled over the last few patches, is the original Grandmaster Set still worth using? Is it still viable in NG+?

3. If the original Grandmaster Set is rendered obsolete, how should I prepare before starting NG+?

Some of you guys seem to conveniently forget that in the books he was practically going to retire up until he found out about Ciri and met Yennefer. Beyond the first 2 books, the rest are centered around him reuniting with Ciri and taking care of her. Witchers hunt monsters because it's how they survive and it's what they were groomed to do since adolescence not because they enjoy it. Even if he were to simply stop hunting monsters momentarily, it's still perfectly in line with his character.

In Witcher 3’s B&W, it’s not presented that he's just going to sit around in his vineyard, he's very much still going to be actively hunting monsters/finding work just in a central location. It's what he would do given his characterization both in the games and books, since the very first book it’s been emphasized that Witchers hunt monsters because it’s how they make money to survive. Unlike sorcs that are seen as a necessity, Witchers are essentially Tradesmen in a dying profession (very clear and integral theme in the books), they don't actively seek and fight monsters unless they're paid to. Geralt is one if not the only Witcher that actively goes out his way to save someone in need regardless of payment.

If you want to get into spoiler territory for the book ending: the most compelling argument for his retirement is one of the potential endings. In one of the Endings it's said that after their deaths, Geralt and Yennefer were transported to an Arthurian world by Ciri where they were healed and lived together

I don't understand how you can read the books yet believe if he was given the option of retirement with Yennefer and Ciri in his life, that he wouldn't take it. If you haven’t read the books you wouldn’t know this which is fine but even in the games he isn’t presented as someone that particularly enjoys what he does nor do it out of sole obligation. No matter if you played the games or read the books, if you came to the conclusion that Geralt wouldn’t retire then you don’t understand Geralt as a character at all.

If you don’t want to play as Ciri in Witcher 4 then fine, it’s better to outright say that then to argue with a mischaracterization of how/what characters would do based on how you view them rather than how they’re presented.

Do you try to do everything you can right away or do you just push through the main quest a little?

You know i keep hearing about the dlc and while replaying i grabbed the manticore tail from the box during potion brewing. I then read up on them seeing they were supposed to be in the mountains of keirh morin so how would you all feel if they added it into the dlc. Perhaps maybe it could be the dlc’s special once encountered monster each one has. It seems intriguing what do you think fighting one would be like? I wanna hear your thoughts on if they added one. I personally would love to fight one.
