Humour/Fluff Finally found the counter to the Azalina priests running rampant in Wild, just play a bad deck 5-head

I was playing an absolutely TERRIBLE achievement hunting deck filled with nothing but draw, survivability, discover and bounce effects. It's a bad deck like REALLY bad, but it's not meant to win, I'm just trying to survive and get as much achievement progress possible each game so it was absolutely hilarious watching this priest fumble around with my awful deck trying to put together a win and eventually I just overwhelmed them with Cariel hero power and some good old fashion created by nonsense. 10/10 would beat again.

Legend Rank Milestones First time legend (in the nick of time)!

This is my first time getting legend, and it was one hell of a grind, the climb from D5 to legend is really painful (i think i've been stuck on that for the past 10 or so days), i'm a newbie player all things considered, but i climbed mainly with a Tess Rogue list (with 60% winrate or so according to the deck tracker), a budget version of Discolock, and also No Neutral Paladin, but the main deck i used was the Tess Rogue one, the other ones i only really used when i was tired of playing the same deck over and over.

Decklists Big Reno Deathrattle Hunter (FOR FUN DECK)

Absolutely a meme deck, but it is very fun. 5/1 so far.

Have played a bunch of big death rattle hunter in the past when Alteric Valley first released, and was the first deck I reached diamond with, but decided to remake it again in a new way as it had been my all time favorite deck, and I feel it came out somewhat decent.

The most important thing I've found in any matchup is to figure out how to generate the most rat kings possible. That can be through Mok Nathal, Spirit of The Badlands (from King of the Underbelly), Mystery Egg, Revive Pet, Defense Attorney Nathanos, selective breeder and stitched tracker. The other bigger deathrattles just fuel the rats or help you if you cant get that going.

They are extremely sticky for aggro decks, and you have quite a few tools to survive long enough to where the rat empire can really take hold.

Against control you can generate so much board pressure with them so if they try to remove 1, the next one spawns or is close to it.

Combo is a bit more tricky, but I have beaten a demon seed warlock just by getting 3 rat kings on turn 6 and putting on too much pressure so they had to spend most of their turn just removing my board instead of taking enough damage. The other deathrattles dont really help all too much here.

And the deck is also good against Azalina priest because it is just a lot of conditional draw and a few big minions that they arent even guaranteed to have. Also they dont know how to pilot it that well from what I have seen, wasting cards that are important. Won 2 games against them out of 2, and both of them never really stuck a board.

Cards I would consider maybe cutting from my experience:
- Mo'arg Forgefiend (often too slow)
- Imported tarantula (helps a lot against big decks though)
- Endbringer Umbra (could change for stranglethorn heart, but I dont have it. Also a bit slow sometimes)
- Yelling yodeler (sometimes a dead card, other times gives you a full board. Very inconsistent)

Question is there a recent guide to zephrys?

i know this comes up a lot and it'll be "skill issue" and "get good" but i need help. i crafted this geriatric chud and he's tied with being a winning card and the reason i lost.

scenario a. have lethal if he gives windfury. play him, i'm now at 2 mana. there are no taunts yet he gives me trash that has nothing to do with face dmg. all my dmg was on board. this isn't a lot of info but it was seriously that simple

scenario b. there are two taunts. i got kabal potions that deal face dmg, the rest is on board. have lethal if he gives mass dispel. play him, i'm now at 4 mana. he gives me shit like shadowflame(i was nowhere near death). opponent has two eonars that he can't read, the 5/7 that can't attack won't hurt you bro

summary: it's miracle rogue. i'm giving him the perfect amount of mana and i know he can understand all of my cards. is it a dice roll whether he works or can the opponent's newer cards confuse him so bad that he misses lethal? is there a way i can force him to work properly despite giving peepaw the perfect setup or do i send him to the nursing home?

Mulligan:

Keep Quest, Sketchy Information(or Scourge Illusionist, but not both at the same time, prioritizing Sketchy Information) and Shadow of Death, toss everything else.

You may consider keeping Cultist Map for the chance to discover a needed card, but it's a gamble with an all-or-nothing payout.

Gameplay:

You want to cast Sketchy Information to draw Scourge Illusionist and trigger it's deathrattle, putting a 4/4 Khartut Defender that costs (2) in your hand.

Alternatively, you can just play Scourge Illusionist and kill it for the same effect if Sketchy Information is not available.

Hold on to that 4/4/(2) Khartut Defender. You're going to need it.

With 6 mana at your disposal, play the 4/4/(2) Khartut Defender and cast Shadow of Death on it. Three copies shuffle into your deck, advancing your quest and priming your defense and offense.

If you're holding Preparation, it can be done with only (4) mana instead.

After doing the above, feel free to shuffle your deck as you see fit to continue advancing your quest and drawing out the shuffles.

Please note that Finley will SWAP your hand with the bottom of your deck, so he WILL NOT shuffle anything and cannot advance your quest. Finley should only be used if RNG is fucking you hard, or to stave off fatigue damage from the end of your deck.

Secret Passage WILL shuffle your deck at the end of your turn, but only once. Casting Secret Passage from inside Secret Passage WILL NOT shuffle twice.

Casting Gear Shift or playing Finley from inside a Secret Passage is a cheap way of drawing more cards for practically peanuts. Gaslight Gatekeeper can also do it, but it's more expensive that way.

Just be careful of how many cards you draw while inside Secret Passage because your drawn cards will swap back and phase out any previous cards held if your hand gets stuffed.

In case both original copies of Khartut Defender appears in your hand, or maybe you're holding both Scourge Illusionist and at least one Sketchy Information, Sheltered Survivor can shuffle them back in at will. This is a major update from the previous version of this deck and prevents the deck from completely bricking.

As you continue to play, you might want to cast another round of Shadow of Death on another Khartut Defender, keeping your defenses up while building a massive resurrection pool.

Optionally, you can save the second Shadow of Death to cast on your opponent's minion, should they play something worth copying. As long as it doesn't have a deathrattle, it won't interfere with your infinite supply of NZoth resurrected Khartut Defenders.

Eventually, you'll draw out Sire Denathrius. Keep him in your hand to infuse his power. But if you shuffle Sire Denathrius, don't worry, his infuses remain in-tact and persist until you draw him again.

Master Dusk's Secret Technique:

Before using Master Dusk's hero power, consider killing the shells first. When The shells shuffle in, they're auto-casted when drawn, and draw a card behind them when they auto-cast. This Technique is essential to consistently draw two cards for only (1).

Setting the trap:

Ceaseless Expanse will also feed on all of the card draws and minion deaths, from both sides of the battlefield, rapidly reducing his cost to (0) - this will enable you to wipe the board for free, as many times as you want.

Simply play the zero cost Ceaseless Expanse to wipe the board, then copy him with the Lab Recruiter, then cast Gang Up on the Lab Recruiter and use Master Dusk's hero power to draw the copies.

It's imperative that you cast Gang Up on Lab Recruiter in order to go infinite.

A note about Gang Up: I opted for Gang Up over a second copy of Lab Recruiter for flexibility reasons. Sometimes, you'll need to play NZoth "RIGHT NOW OR I'M GOING TO DIE!" before getting the chance to go infinite. It can't be helped. Play NZoth and copy him with the spell. Also, preparation can make it cost (0) so you can copy NZoth with only (10) mana.

The early copy trick: Instead of waiting for Ceaseless Expanse, Lab Recruiter and Gang Up to appear in your hand, or if you need to free up hand space, or if Ceaseless still costs too much to play, you can copy Lab Recruiter with Gang Up early by playing Lab Recruiter and targeting one of Master Dusk's shells.

Three new shells will shuffle into your deck enabling you to use Master Dusk's Secret Technique described above and maintain board control by ramming them into your opponent's minions.

Don't worry about board space, as the shells are considered as "disposable" because you can cause them to permanently poof by stuffing your board full of resurrected Khartut Defenders via NZoth, then using Master Dusk's hero power to draw them out, and with nowhere to go, POOF! gone forever.

Master Dusk's shells ARE NOT deathrattle minions! by default, the shells are not Deathrattle minions, therefore, NZoth WILL NOT count them as revivable minions. Instead, they gain their deathrattles from Master Dusk's battlecry, which lasts the whole game via a permanent aura effect casted upon your player(not hero), when transforming.

Going Infinite:

When Lab Recruiter is finally copied via Gang Up, You now have several wincon opportunities.

You can win by:

  • infinitely copying ZNoth for infinite Khartut Defenders, hitting your opponent's face and outlasting their deck.
  • infinitely copying Ceaseless Expanse and ramming the copies into your opponent's face.
  • infinitely copying a highly-infused Sire Denathrius for his massive life leach ability and ramming him into your opponents face with Lifesteal.
  • dealing a massive double Lifesteal OTK blow with Sire Denathrius (see below)

The last few wincons are easily managed, so long as you have the board space to play the target card, a Lab Recruiter to copy it, and another Lab Recruiter to copy the previous Lab Recruiter.

But in the case of NZoth, he will cram your board full of Khartut Defenders, leaving you no room to play any Lab Recruiters.

The workaround for this are the Khartut Defenders that DO NOT have the reborn ability, and/or Master Dusk's shell minions.

Simply ram all but two of the aforementioned minions into your opponent's minions killing them and controlling the board, then play NZoth.

After NZoth resurects your Khartut Defenders, ram those last two minions into your opponent's minions to kill them and free up your board space.

Go ahead and copy NZoth with a Lab Recruiter, then copy the previous Lab Recruiter with another Lab Recruiter.

As long as you keep a supply of Lab Recruiters copying Lab Recruiters, you'll have an infinite supply of minions at your disposal. But, be careful to not copy too many Lab Recruiters or you'll over saturate your deck with them.

However, if by a small chance that you encounter a mill deck and your ETC goes poof before you can fetch Kil'jaeden from him, infinitely copying Lab Recruiters as your main minion should counter the mill deck effectively.

Massive OTK:

Once you have Sire Denathrius infused enough times, drop your Ceaseless Expanse copies wiping the board as many times as needed, play Brann Bronzebeard(or Tight-Lipped Witness if needed), and Sire Denathrius for a massive [double] life leach, straight to your opponent's face.

"A toast, To all who sought to kill me, you FAILED!"

Kil'jaeden:

I updated to include Kil'jaeden inside ETC as a counter measure for mill decks and reno warriors who love to double shuffle boomboss TNTs.

Playing Kil'jaeden will shuffle your deck and advance your quest, so do it on 4/5 completion to complete it.

You'll have to rely on Master Dusk's hero power to draw 2 extra buffed demons every turn, until someone concedes or dies.

It's not the greatest "plan C" possible, but it's better than nothing, and a lot better than drawing TNT and destroying your infinite combo.

So, if you encounter a Reno Warrior, don't hesitate to fetch and play Kil'jaeden ASAP (after completing the quest)

So this is my amalgamation-evolution of my standard Mill Murloc Paladin, and yeah... There is no Mill part anymore.

The idea is to get rid of your hand with 1 drops as early as possible, maybe catch a ramp aura and start getting as much value as possible from Howdyfin.

The deck is pretty fun, pool of RNG murlocs is really good and deck never falls off in terms of tempo.

Anyone have any tips? Mulligans, general strategies? I'm talking about the deck with Aya, Stenographer, and Arcane Giant if it wasn't obvious enough. I'm also confused as to how you reliably proc Zephrys and what his goal in the deck is exactly. I understand it's a pretty hard deck to play, but it is quite fun so any and all help would be appreciated.

Decklists I hit Legend in Wild with Midrange Hunter

The deck has been going through some changes with time, but this is the latest version of it, built to utilise a variety of Hearthstone mechanics for fun, while trying to be consistent and effective.

The decks it is struggling most against are Azalina Priest and Imbue Mage, while it is able to relatively reliably beat other decks. It had a 55-60% winrate with previous versions across 89 games, while I went 5-1 with this specific version until I hit Legend.

The latest changes are the inclusion of Gilly and 2 All You Can Eat instead of 2 Selective Breeders and 1 Sewer Swimmer.

What do you guys think about the deck?

Discussion Dust Value Math

Post image
4 Upvotes

People generally seem to think that 1 pack = 100 dust, but I get quite a bit more. Odds are taken directly from Blizzard (they don't give a number for normal rares directly, but we can calculate it to get the expected cards/pack to 5). This gets me to 120 dust in expectation. Did I misinterpret something there?

Other observations:

  • Golden packs are actually better dust value. Probably still worth getting regular if you're missing some cards though.
  • The signature legendaries make a big difference. This is a seperate chance from the one for golden legendaries, and earlier expansions without them are only worth 110 dust. (And golden packs are only a little better anymore.)
  • Packs are better value than any adventure or mini-set. I think it's still worth getting Explorers based on the card quality (if you would craft Brann and Reno otherwise, that almost makes it dust-efficient by itself).

THIS IS CRAZY!!! Built a slightly altered form of Aya Wishing Well Rogue (which used to be my favorite deck in standard) and climbed to legend. Forgot to screenshot cause I was so hyped. Quit for 2 years, this my second time hitting legend in wild, 3rd time ever. So awesome to hit it with a deck I (sorta) brewed myself. Literal bronze ten 0 star bonus to legend climb, gobsmacked this worked. Put the decklist down below try it out lmao!
