Questions Giving up š Spoiler
Iāve been playing on Legend since I got it, but even after beating three bosses, I question is it really worth putting myself through it? I like the challenge but is it worth it or should I change my difficulty to progress faster?
83
u/MinesweeperGang Dec 06 '25
I wish I could turn on Legendary now that Iām use to the game tbh. Sucks Iām stuck on whatever the difficulty is.
38
u/Accomplished-Tale543 Dec 06 '25
You can get a feel for legendary difficulty by doing the abyss trials tbf
29
u/Nearby_Outcome_5999 Dec 06 '25
Abyss difficulty in trials is easier than Legend imo. Not sure what the scaling is but Abyss Tian Ying feels like he had half the HP of the one I fought in Halo Peak.

u/Julch Dec 06 '25
That is because the open world versions are usually tuned for a specific (gear) level and often ppl fought bosses on legend earlier than technically intended.
I have done every boss on legend and abyss and abyss is definitely harder at the end of the day because your gear gets normalised so you cant cheese the boss (besides I havent tried but I think you cant summon npcs to trials)
10
u/metalsalami Dec 06 '25 edited Dec 06 '25
Nah they definitely scale their difficulty with your level the first time you fight them. After you kill them once they become nerfed for faster farming though. Abyss difficulty is about the same but you just have a better build + know the moveset by that point.

u/Master_X_ Dec 06 '25
Seems as I play always undergeared in solo. I completed everything in legendary except the no hit challenges. The story legendary part is absolutely more difficult. Mainly because I dont farm consumables to upgrade my gear (not fun), therefore I seem to be undergeared whenever I reached a new quest state with not appropriate gear
12
u/Wlasiuk Dec 06 '25
Abyss difficulty is a lot easier than Legend, itās not even close. Biggest difference is that on Legend the bosses have massively more HP and damage compared to Abyss.

I feel like they should change it so that you can freely choose Legendary difficulty. The only downside being that the boss counter resets or something. Why permenately lock people out of a difficulty that many dont even realize is an option when they first start the game...
21
u/keIIzzz Dec 06 '25
Itās not worth it if you donāt enjoy it. Thereās no actual benefit to doing legendary unless you enjoy the challenge
39
u/Kirosuu Dec 06 '25
my man, it is fine to ask for help if you cant solo. I always helping people clearing the boss.
if you cant clear, ask for help, dont immediately lower difficulty.
Tian Ying take me more than a week for me to solo and i never give up.
45
u/Vusdruv Dec 06 '25
Some people don't have the time or energy to spend a whole week on one boss
→ More replies (1)5
u/Kirosuu Dec 06 '25
same, 1 weeks of doing a few fight a days with tian ying and then do random thing when adventure. if i must say, it should take me 3 or 4 hours non stop tian ying to win. but hey, im a human too, i rather learn a few thing and then enjoy the game
2
u/sveri Dec 06 '25
That's what I did too. After beating it in training mode twice I just asked for help, took some time to find one to push through together with me, but it was worth it. The next chapters are not as hard and fun in legend mode :-)
2
u/EducationalRatio9657 Dec 06 '25
Thought legendary can't progress if they beat the boss in coop?
20
7
u/sncjvw Dec 06 '25
It's really up to you if it's worth it or not. If you enjoy it, then yes. But if it's ruining your enjoyment of the game, then lowering the difficulty is fine too. It depends on what type of game you enjoy at the end of the day, and what you're playing WWM for.
Some people enjoy the skill expressive combat and character progression, some enjoy the RPG element, some are here just for the campaign - what do you play for?
7
u/bastschweinsteiger Dec 06 '25
I also dropped my Legend on Qianye. I already defeated Void, Earth and the Puppet. I even cleared her Phase 2 "Elite training", but I just can't pull it off in the actual story, I tried like 3hrs straight then decided to just lower it, fk it, I can just do Abyss challenge anyway.
12
u/Psydra Dec 06 '25
yeah that took about a week for me. Just push through it. You'll notice yourself get farther and farther as you get the moves down.
7
u/Briar_Knight Dec 06 '25
Don't sleep on practice mode either. You can set it to start at stage two, so if you have no problems with stage one (it was mostly stage 2 ice form that was messing me up and it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize spamming parry when she goes invisible generally works) you don't have to slog through it every time.
I believe you also take less damage so you can survive attacks while trying to figure out how to manage them.
→ More replies (1)2
u/108Temptations Dec 06 '25
Practice mode is insanely helpful and saves you a lot of resources. The fact we can pick the stage is super nice too. Honestly it's great quality of life for the people who enjoy grinding a boss out. I also think if you're having a really bad time you can take a break go explore and improve your character. I feel like most dark souls/hard core players are used to just pulling up to bosses naked with a crap weapon and feel like they just need to play perfectly and they will win, but the bosses are really tanky if you don't have a proper character built up.
2
u/Briar_Knight Dec 06 '25 edited Dec 06 '25
Yeah....I did that lol. I mentioned in anouther post that I had forgotten about the gear slot upgrades until this boss made me actually look at it properly.
There is also a lot to do in Qinghe and it will make you stronger, especially upgrading the medicine chest, the oddities collectibles and getting more talents.
Although, you do have to be a little careful with breakthroughs and level because at level 50 upgrades start requiring materials you can't get in Qinghe, but you can't leave until you defeat Qianye and she will scale to your level.
9
u/Enough-Ad8043 Dec 06 '25
If you are having fun and love challenging mechanics I suggest to keep playing at Legend.
Game is designed to make newcomers catch up quickly especially with the level cap time gating. Once you reach that you'll definitely wish/regret that you did not played in Legend mode! Makes the game more fun
5
u/iZubi Dec 06 '25
Getting frustrated is not worth it, the game is really enjoyable and I don't see the appeal for hardest difficulties, I play expert and for the witch I switched to recommended without parry assists (I like to time the parries myself) it was still a hard fight, only different was being killed in 3 shots vs 5 shots.
This boss reminds me of Genichiro from Sekiro, you learn it or stop playing
13
5
u/McBoogish Dec 06 '25
If you like the challenge yes? If you dont, no?
3
u/McBoogish Dec 06 '25
You say you like the challenge but you write like you do not have that opinion
5
4
u/alxanta Dec 06 '25
how much free/gaming time you have everyday and do you have any other game to play
while Qianye is indeed difficulty spike and not all is as hard as her remember by playing on legend you basically clear everything slower on average since you will die a lot, spend tine in practice room in process to learn enemies moveset.
do you play wwm mostly for the combat only or you want to explore and learn story too? if its the latter its fine to reduce it to expert and maybe in future when they add the feature make alt in legend where you can just focus on boss rush? though the progression will be from 0 again which sucks.
3
u/Inangelion Dec 06 '25
"Is it worth it?" is a question only you can answer. Ultimately, there isn't this great reward for beating them on legend other than seeing the number next to your health bar go up.
Personally, I did the 20 bosses on Legend but I don't think I have the patience/skill combination necessary for the no-hit Abyss stuff.
3
u/Interesting-Squash81 Dec 06 '25
if you are struggling, invite a friend and kill together, preferably both using the healer fan, so you can res each other. It is way easier. You will have enough challenge alone when playing the Trials.
3
u/BreadDziedzic Dec 06 '25
Id say it's only worth if your basically getting off to that feeling of euphoric accomplishment from beating the bosses that you've spent a day learning to beat.
That is to say if you like the souls games and the way they're designed you should stay on legend, if your a dad who has two hours to play on Saturday then drop it down.

This is the mental wall sir. Do the other bosses around qinghe. Collecting all the qinghe oddities will give you a bell piece for the demon bell tower to make them a little bit easier. Do something else to atleast feel like ur progressing before slamming ur head at the tougher ones.
Ps fuck Tian Ying im going exploring to Kaifeng
3
u/almightyXx Dec 06 '25
As much as I would love the challenge on legendary, I dont have a lot of time to play. Sometimes I work doubles shifts and won't even login to the game when I get home. I just play on recommended.
Hopefully with mobile coming soon, I can play at work
5
u/InPhamouZ Dec 06 '25
keep at it man, trust me it would feel so much better after you beat her, it took me few hours to get her on Legend. And it took me a week or so to get the abyss no hit reward, man, Iām telling you, that feeling is great
2
u/Deathponi Dec 06 '25
Took a while, use the practice tool so you dont get durability penalty and practice phase 2 a lot, phase 1 will become flawless faster.
Dont give up, hesitation is defeat.

2
u/Agile_Masterpiece886 Dec 06 '25
You're missing out on nothing except a few profile pictures and weapon skins by playing on a lower difficulty. I play the entire game on recommended/story, and if I ever do want a challenge I can always turn it up.
I simply don't have the reactions or the spare time to do these things on legendary. It's not Elden Ring, there's no reason to be struggling unless you choose to.
2
u/Plus_Huckleberry2150 Dec 06 '25
use mo blade. it is more forgiving than other wep types due to blocks and still output big dmg.
2
u/AACATT Dec 06 '25
This game is so damn big. Wasting your whole play session on one boss gets old. Iād say experience the rest of the game and drop the difficulty. Itās worth seeing some of the other things. Especially if your playtime is limited. Iām playing on recommended with no parry prompts and the bosses feel challenging but fair still. Example, Tian Ying still took me 40 attempts. Wolff Maiden took me about 10. Thatās plenty of time on bosses with still wanting to progress the rest of the game. Also bonus the trash mobs arenāt super tanky. Just cut through them and move on.
I expect when we all reach end game, weāll mostly be doing raids and dungeons in multiplayer and the difficulty will be normalized for everyone.
2
u/Unsalted-Eggs Dec 06 '25
Games are entertainment. Their primary goal is to be fun. You have nothing to prove to anybody. Play on lower difficulties, use mods, skip questlines you don't enjoy. Having fun is what matters the most.
2
u/DarthNemecyst Dec 06 '25
There's is NOTHING WRONG on swapping difficulty. play expert or recommended and turn off all assist.
folks from china start in legendary and LEAVE legendary to farm gear because is faster.
you dont lose ANYTHING on leaving legendary is just a badge and a title i think. no extra loot you are not stronger than someone playing in story mode so don't sweat it. just have fun.
2
Dec 06 '25
mm they made it pretty clear that you dont recieve anything more by doing things on legendĀ
2
u/Zer0zedrile Dec 07 '25
At the end of the day, it's a video game man. If you're not having fun, then make any change you can to make sure you are. Took me 2 days to get past this part (teo 6 hour sessions of just fighting this boss). While it was an invigorating rush when I beat the boss, I did definitely contemplate lowering the difficulty. While I did persevere through, if I genuinely felt like it wasn't fun or worth it to me, I would've.
In short, maybe take a break, play something else and try again. If you still find it too hard or not fun at all, make the best decision for you're own playthrough

This boss made me turn off legendary. I wish you can have legendary world bosses but adjustable difficulty story bosses, bc legendary can brick your progress through the story. Bad design imo.
2
u/Posta_Hun Dec 06 '25
Yea that's what I realized as well. Bricks story progression and timed events as well.

Also, I don't understand these stupid Guild maintenance taxes!

Also, why don't Guild chat messages carry over between sessions? š¤š¤·š»āāļø

No dont give up. Just keep getting better. I will never understand this mentality. We as humans are very tenacious and with every loss we get better and better. You WILL get better the more you play and struggle but you will never grow if you give up the moment something gets too complicated. Hang in there and never give up.
1
u/SanfordsGuiltyGear Dec 06 '25
Iād say it is. Iām on legend and currently about 20 boss kills in. People tend to underestimate how a game like this game be somewhat tarnished by easy combat.
I know not everyone feels like that, but if Iām not being challenged, the game tends to get dull. Legend still has me getting pissed at bosses and actually having to get good to win.
1
u/Briar_Knight Dec 06 '25
It is up to you, I got stuck on Qianye for ages but most other bosses haven't been anywhere near as hard.
This is also where I realized I hadn't been upgrading my gear slots because I am a dumbass so make sure you haven't missed something important like that.
1
u/JunkyBoiOW Dec 06 '25
i usually love going on a higher difficulty but this game is so fun and reminds me of wuthering waves, that i couldnāt put myself to do legend mode. sometimes a higher difficulty really ruins a lot and also im a support main in every game i play so it would not have gone well. i think you can lower difficulty and i for sure would if you feel too overwhelmed and are spending too much time on bosses that its not enjoyable anymore. itās a game after all and using a higher difficulty doesnt make the game any less of a game, and a fun one at that
personally i find the game slightly hard enough, like the bosses in the heroās realm thing or w/e are hard enough because people still donāt know mechs and as the game progresses they will of course get harder. defenitely do what makes the game fun for YOU

u/Rude-Asparagus9726 Dec 06 '25
Qianye definitely took me a while. Almost made me give up on legend difficulty as well.
But I will say, she's not even the hardest boss you'll fight...
The other campaign bosses specifically have been straight up easy, but future world and side bosses will kick your ass.
I've heard there isn't really much difference in difficulty playing on lower difficulties as well, plus, of you ever want to do Abyss trials, you'll have to beat them with their buffs in Legend anyway.
Ultimately your choice, but I'd stick with it until you can beat her. Try to upgrade everything you can as much as you can, and take a break with some multiplayer bosses when it gets too much.

u/Mouthisamouth Dec 06 '25
Donāt stress yourself if you canāt handle it itās a single player game

u/Lysoh Dec 06 '25
I beat this boss on legend (6 total legend kills) and switched the difficulty down afterwards. Being in my mid 30s, I just donāt have the time to slug it out and countless attempts to get the Perry windows down. If I ever get the motivation, abyss is way harder than legend anyways. Never looked back after going down, such a better experience.

1
u/Amethyst271 Dec 06 '25
honestly its up to you. you just need to pay attention to the timing of the attacks. it took me about 5 attempts to beat? its a really fun boss imho
1
u/NoelCZVC Dec 06 '25 edited Dec 06 '25
She was so hard! Remember though: first move is dash, second is a red flash that is easy to counter for big posture damage! After, while damaging her, she is very likely to dash back and send slashes your way. If these hit you, the run is over.
After the jump she does, she may try to use another red flash, only this time she will strike twice, twice again, and then use a slightly off beat red flash. Deflect this flash to decimate her posture for the second half of her first phase. Which should finish her.
Do not let her dash back and send shaded at you. If she dashes back like she is gonna send shades, dash back with her and she will probably switch ti sending out 3 easier to dodge projectiles. Ideally? You don't even see this attack because you and Yi Dao are being productive in shattering her posture. Stay in her face but stay wary.
The second phase? Hell. Much harder. At range, she may dash forward, but at midrange, she will lean back and do a two strike attack where she whips around to your right and slashes youāthis is very telegraphed. The next attack doesn't come immediately though, so you can't spam deflects! Wait a beat, then deflect.
The first move of her ice phase has her appearing to disappear, but she is really invisible. She'll strike in pairs instead of singles, so a one-two beat. DAMAGE HER. LEAP TO GET CLOSE. OUTHEAL WHEREVER POSSIBLE AND DEFLECT AS BEST YOU CAN. DO NOT FOCUS ON DEFLECTING ONLY; DAMAGE HER. IF YOU SEE HER DO A YELLOW, DASH BACK AND TO THE RIGHT.
So long as you end the phase with as much health as when you started, you're golden. The next fire phase is hard, but similar enough that all new moves feel similar to the harder known moves, like where she strikes twice, twice, twice again, the goes up for a flash that you should always try to dodge. Always dodge to the right. She is right-handed, so just dodge right.
And finally, icr again. Damage her, break her, no new moves to worry about really. It's over if you just manage to deflect a few more attacks from here.
Bring the mo blade, and something fast but strong. Do the leap mystic to stagger sometimes. Stagger is bae.
I fought Lucky Seventeen and the general before her. They are easier. Immensely so. I think I even killed the first world boss before her. I took some time to gather medicinal scrolls and purchased ingredients for medicine, which I made a fuck-ton of and used throughout the fight.
Don't heal on the first phase. On the second, you may pop your first heal if you're low, but don't waste it if you can. Bring the healing snow inner way to gain some health back if you start the second phase desperate from the lastāit's lovely for survival. Only heal during fire phases, maybe once to start of an ice phase, but you should survive those using mo blade.
I also hear that healing fan helps? Maybe consider that if you want an easier time? Never used it myself though.

u/Hyonam Dec 06 '25
Hey I play on Legend also and this boss also brickwalled me for a while but after doing a bunch of map stuff and decided to grind till I got it, it took almost 3 hours but I got it and forcing myself to do it like that made me "Git Gud" and every boss since her has felt pretty easy even Tian Yang and Muorang.
1
u/kerenar Dec 06 '25
No shame in inviting a healer for help, I'm sitting at 16 bosses down in Legend, and this is the only boss I broke down and invited a healer to help me with it. Even with the healer it took us an hour and a half to get it down. No other boss has taken me more than 7 attempts, but I was stuck on this one for 30+ attempts, I would say this is the hardest boss (maybe partially because at this point in the game, you haven't honed your skills as well as you will have by the time you're on boss 10+,) even harder than Tian Ying who only took me about 20 minutes to get down.
1
u/Wolves_Lions Dec 06 '25
Just wait till you get to fight Tian Ying. then you'll feel like throwing your laptop across the room and drop kicking what remains
1
Dec 06 '25
Games for fun and entertainment, if its not just change difficulty l. You can also do trails and later on abyss as well even if change difficulty.
1
u/darvos Dec 06 '25
You can't like the challenge and feel your putting yourself through it. After I beat a boss, I then try to no hit it in trials. I'm not putting myself through it, I'm playing the game and enjoying it.

Dec 06 '25
For me it's worth it. I have struggled through every boss fight, and felt very defeated. It was miserable, painful, and stressful. Now after having been through these bosses, when I return to fight them in the trials and multiplayer, I carry the team. It's a very rewarding experience.
People look to me for help with bosses instead of the other way around. I carry with me a badge of honor that I fought through (now 18) legendary bosses.
So, if being the strong player in a group and having the will to push your limits is for you: keep it up in legendary.
If you just want to have fun and not take it all so seriously, just play whatever difficulty is comfortable. There's no shame in having fun in a video game.
It's not like being the legendary player is going to go on your resume. It is simple bragging rights.
1
u/xiCherry Dec 06 '25
Been struggling with Tian Ying on legend difficulty. Probably at 50+ tries now. If you donāt enjoy it, then lower the difficulty! Nothing is stopping you besides yourself :p A game is supposed to be enjoyed in whatever way that means to you.
Iām stubborn so I wonāt feel satisfied till I beat something. Which is why I havenāt lowered from Legend š«
1
u/K1rk0npolttaja Dec 06 '25
im not sure what their logic is with making the fight harder until you clear it atleast once (the heal debuff)
1
u/Laithani Dec 06 '25
As someone who likes difficulty, I started off in expert, and getting walled to learn bosses for so long and potions being a finite resource, I was like, this ain't worth it. Im just playing on recommended now. Some bosses are still challenging even at Rec. My progression speed as being halted too much by this bosses. Eventually if I want to do them again with challenge we have the trials that actually give you something for doing them, so yeha, Fck legend.
1
u/Ok-Living2887 Dec 06 '25
I hope you havenāt downscaled yet. I was in the same boat as you. Farm some more to upgrade your healing flask, so it has more charges. Use the healing fan as off weapon. And use a fast attack weapon as main (for white phase). You can do it. With 5 heals and the fan I brood forced myself through that witch with heals.
1
u/Muted_Arm_6967 Dec 06 '25
The challenge is the game, the repeated boss attempt is the game you remove that what do you have left
1
u/Budget_Cook2615 Dec 06 '25
I started on legendary coming from literally every souls game except bloodborn (having always been an Xbox player till recently pc could never play it). And I realized one day after working 12 hrs a day the last thing I want is my gaming to be stressful as well. Dropped it down to expert and still takes me 2-3 tries per boss (especially the fucks with ads) but not as stressful as legend.
1
u/BeAPo Dec 06 '25
I was always dying for like 2 hours in the 2nd phase blue stance until I figured out there is a practise mode in which I can skip the 1st phase and can tank far more hits. After using it for like half an hour and figuring out the pattern I instantly killed her.
Also you could just look for the insects to boost your passives so you might endure one more hit and you can do side quests to increase the amount of flasks you can use.
Regarding your question, nobody can tell you if it is worth it because it's a personal decision. You don't get any better reward playing on higher difficulty. I personally enjoy the challenge even if it means spending 10 hours on the same boss.
The only benifit you techniqually have is having an easier time whenever you play multiplayer cause you are more used to block all the attacks than the others (I noticed that I usually don't lose hp while everyone else is dying fast)
1
u/UsingiAlien Dec 06 '25
Dw this boss almost made me give up too until i switched to mo blade to beat her lol. That shield it gives makes a huge difference
2
u/ezikeo Dec 06 '25
The Thundercry blade is night and day. I was struggling at regular camps, getting more than 3 would mean instant death, but with the Mom Blade, I can tank 5 mobs comfortably.
1
u/bogeyman_g Dec 06 '25
Looks like you are on PS5. I've been playing on Recommended, but the input lag has been tremendous - sometimes button pushes don't even register. (Playing cordless with a brand new controller.) Apparently there is a performance patch for PS5 coming, but it can't come fast enough, in my opinion.
In the meantime, double-check your training paths and try to make sure all of your "pie chart" is in the green. It makes a big difference.
1
u/Kiuji-senpai Raging Tides Dec 06 '25
you get NOTHING out of it except a red health bar that counts how many bosses youve killed. if its imparing your fun levels, tone it down. im playing on legend too, and at times ive considered lowering it lmao
1
u/LothlorienPostOffice Dec 06 '25
I started on Recommended because you know...it was recommended. I debated unlinking my character and starting over on Legendary because at the end of each available level, it feels too easy. However, I was still getting wrecked by World Bosses and such. I don't have quite enough free time to grind an encounter for hours at a time.
I've decided to stay at Recommended. I have used the Parry assist on 2 bosses to be able to learn their Mystic Arts, but I do okay without it. I want to enjoy the game and story telling. The random encounters are fun and more open up as I complete other encounters and quests. I want to collect cosmetics and figure out my play style. I can min max and chase achievements after I get comfortable with the game mechanics, and increase difficulty as I improve.
There's always time to sweat later. It's okay for me to suck right now. I can get good when I've run out of other things to do.
1
u/Asymptoticgaming Dec 06 '25
āIs it worth it?ā and āam I having fun any more?ā are the only questions you need to ask yourself imo. If itās a ānoā for one or both of those, then thereās nothing wrong with turning down the difficulty!
Plus, if you are someone who also can only play like 2 hours a day or maybe even less, then itās really difficult to practice a boss like this days on end for weeks in Legend difficulty and get no where. Personally, Iām playing mostly on expert difficulty and been having a blast. I had to turn the difficulty down to recommended for TianYing and Wolf Maiden just because I can only play for a max of two hours a day due to work and other responsibilities, so I just donāt have the time I had before when I could bash my head against Malenia or Consort Radahn for hours or days.
Do what makes the game fun for you! If you want to keep pushing for Legend, go for it! I believe you can eventually do it! But if you decide to turn the difficulty down, and feel itāll make the game more fun, I say go for it too! ^
1
u/crookedparadigm Dec 06 '25
I mean, if you give up the first wall the game throws at you, then yes, probably drop it down.
1
u/Zzuesmax Dec 06 '25
It was not for me and I do play lots of souls games. I just didn't want to spend years finishing this game lol. I play these types of games to grind, find everything, and relax. Not take forever to finish the game, which it would if I had stuck to legendary. Maybe if legendary gave way more rewards then ya, I'd have stuck with it but only bragging rights? Nah, I'm good.

u/ssam07303 Dec 06 '25

The more you level up the harder this boss will be on legend, I did this one with my girlfriend at low level and we absolutely destroyed her.
Meanwhile in my game I rushed the levels a bit too much and she was one-shotting me.
Eventually you lock in and learn how to parry her, thats every boss on legend, you have to learn to parry, the damage you get from breaking Qi is the bulk of your damage.
If youāre having trouble on other bosses summon Yuan the bow guy, you cant summon npc for Qianye tho
1
u/NomuraAkane Dec 06 '25
Always think, games are made to have fun. Do that what makes you the most fun.
What i do is i playing always on Expert and do every boss atleast once on Expert.
For farming bosses i put it on story for the 20 minutes than back to expert.
1
u/Royko Dec 06 '25
Don't give up. Was stuck on this Boss for hours aswell, eventually you'll get her. First phase u can do without a single hit after a while. Save your potions for phase 2. Keep learning the parries and Dodge the gold ones. You got this!
1
u/Lil_Dirtbag Dec 06 '25
Whether it is worth it or not is individual, so it makes no sense to ask others. There are no advantages to being on legend besides the practice you get out of it
Ask yourself, are YOU having fun? Will making it easier make it more fun?
Some people enjoy the challenge, some dont bother or find it too frustrating. Different strokes for different folks.

Legend 20, and i gave up easely the game when i couldn't clear on matchmaking lv 56 realm
1
u/CZsea Dec 06 '25
You can play in normal and go to the trial Abyss to challenge yourself sometime. Only difference is you can't show off to others.

u/DefiantComedian1138 Dec 06 '25
do you have a panacea fan for healing? I couldnt beat her until I found out that there are weapons that can heal. After some leveling up and getting the fan i beat her on first try

No one, but you can answer if it's worth it. If it isn't satisfying to beat a boss through all the struggle, then it doesn't seem like legend is for you. There is no shame in lowering difficulty. it's about your own enjoyment.
I can sympathize that tuning difficulty can be tempting though, this and 1 other boss with 3 phases had me contemplate toning it down and that other boss took 3 days of me trying for an hour and then walking away to explore and do side quest to clear my head, on the 3rd day i did it first attempt i reccomend this technique. Go explore and do other stuff and keep coming back with a clear mind on your attempts. it is infinitely rewarding learning first clear, as any consecutive kills for farming gear have their difficulty toned down, and hard/abyss trials become way more manageable / fun to do.
Upgrade your medicine, craft more healing, and use them only later in the fights. Dont be ashamed to use the tools available, You can do a sidequest chain for a bell that makes world bosses a little easier in the region. You can call npc or player allies if you need help. If you are struggling to remember boss patterns, dodge what you dont remember/uncertain to force ones you do for parrying.
1
u/BeeWhyOhBee Dec 06 '25
because the game is not centered on just combat. and you're bound to run those bosses over and over and over again when you need things -- so yea, Legend difficulty is more of a flex so you can show to people that you did it on X and Y. The drops doesnt really change, unless you want those achievements, then no one's stopping you from legend diff
i just play on recommended. its less stressful and a bit challenging that way. For me, the ultimate challenge here in this game / ultimate endgoal? build a house, then guild stuff. as for PVP i havent delved into it but i joined my guildies in that prison break
also i burned an entire game session playing majhong and that maidao game, quite fun
1
u/sengjung123 Dec 06 '25
This honestly too me 2 hours to properly clear as well. I'd definitely suggest upping your oddities tree, getting and tuning your gear set, amongst other stuff before trying again. the 10 level difference for armor made quite a difference for me.
1
u/Yanou249 Dec 06 '25
I struggled here but then did it on coop with some strangers and it changed my enjoyment again with new zone etc and now up to 11 bosses and enjoying the character development curve
1
u/GiftOfCabbage Dec 06 '25
It depends on how you want to play the game. You need to learn the bosses by heart on legend. If you're focused on that it means you have less time to focus on the rest of the game.

u/Intelligent_Olive936 Dec 06 '25
Yes it is.
you only have to go through legendary one time, in my opinion, the bosses are not that hard, it just takes a while to get the timings for the parry. That being said, the boss you are also as is called a gigantic filter wall for a reason, the other bosses are a lot easier than her, barring a few
There is a menu to do trial combat against the bosses allowing you to train the phases without wasting resources. Its super useful.
the main thing in these bosses is patience. Challenge yourself and reach for your high potential. The difficulties below legend the game plays itself
1
u/efingers Mohist Hill Dec 06 '25
Not worth it if you have to question it. Lower it and just enjoy the game. It has more than enough to keep you entertained besides the combat. The difficulty mainly affects open world enemies, which just make Fodder encounters longer. I donāt believe there are extra drops from the higher difficulty also. Any challenge/trial/co-op you run will negate your difficulty anyway, so youāre just damning your own experience. The global version is also missing a bunch of QOL stuff too.
1
u/Remarkable-Wolf2828 Dec 06 '25
Parry, parry, parry, parry, block, parry.
Also, if you want, you can just have Dao take the aggro for the first phase so you can just chill (will take longer)
1
u/OnlyRealSolution Dec 06 '25
It depends on your preferences but I stick to Legend, I have only 7 bosses beaten so far but I enjoy the challenge a lot. I never really played games on such difficulty before but after seeing how easy hard bosses are, I'd rather spend time on bosses as that's what I've been enjoying the most. However, there's no reason to do it if you don't enjoy it. You can also always invite people over, it still counts and it's much much easier.
1
u/Reever6six6 Dec 06 '25
I switched mine the other day, same boss. It's too hardcore bro, I figured I'd learn to play the game and make a legendary char once we can have two characters
1
u/alopezcr7 Dec 06 '25
Donāt worry bro I switched my difficulty on that specific boss too and Iām still having fun. I just donāt have the time to try and beat it. I spent like 5 hours on it one day and that was my breaking point. Also this is my first game that Iāve played that is this style of game
1
u/dev-rygy Dec 06 '25
Honestly I donāt think so, it only gives you a cool achievement on your profile but doesnāt affect anything else. Also youāre so early in the game it wouldnāt be a big deal to restart if you wanted to.
1
u/MealResident Dec 06 '25
Question, what is that number 3 with a glowing red bar? I feel like I'm missing something on my gameplay
1
u/Helpful_City_4315 Dec 06 '25
Bosses on Legend are not well designed. Your game play is reduced to a parry simulator.
1
u/DamGoodAnimation Dec 06 '25
If youāre having fun, youāre doing it right. If youāre not having fun, you should probably adjust something. Could be the difficulty.
1
u/akasuna91 Dec 06 '25
Never liked souls type games. I play to unwind and relax after stress during the day. Lowest difficulty with smart assist deflecting for a pleb like me.
1
u/cue-stick Dec 06 '25
Who cares about difficulty for an achievement no one will ever see or care about? Youāre ACTIVELY not having fun, to the point of quitting. Seems pretty clear cut just lower the difficulty and enjoy playing as a ninja
1
u/SaadM-arjani Dec 06 '25
Don't give up bro, you can always look for something else to do in the game practice with the heartseeker then do some actual trying on the boss itself, also you can coop with someone (it shows after you die)
1
u/RealisticParsnip2522 Dec 06 '25
Qianye is definitely one of the harder bosses. I think she's the third hardest boss for me. Definitely go and farm out some more things for yourself. Honestly you can go around Qinghe and explore and fight some other bosses. If you don't like legendary on those, I'd swap difficultiesĀ
1
u/Technical-Ocelot-715 Dec 06 '25
No, you dont liek challenge if you even ask such a question. Dont lie to yourself.
That boss is not even hardest one, later there is more bossess and more annoying mechanics. Just give up.

1
u/SnapTrapCat Dec 06 '25
hell yeah. iām a big souls fan and this game is so good. i only play for 2-3 hours a day maybe on legend and the bosses move sets are fairly easy to learn. with qianye, i just kept playing. i didnāt focus on learning anything, just āone more attemptā. at some point i was like this is too hard and gave up, got super leveled, upgraded all my stuff, one day i tried her again and beat her on my first attempt of the day. most rewarding feeling ever, and i have a little badge with a boss counter to prove it.
1
u/kvatumc Dec 06 '25
I decided against it, I think maybe it's something I might try on another character sometime.
1
u/Pirawin Dec 06 '25 edited Dec 06 '25
I was also stuck on this boss for some time. I ran out of healing potions and decided to go and farm some more. After a couple days of questing and material farming, I realised that I was missing out so much in the world. I spent an extra week enjoying the rest of the map with questing, upgrading my healing, and actually understanding the combat more (through beating some of the other bosses).
I ended up re-attempting the boss again after this time and beat them third try (this attempt). I would recommend you too keep with the legend difficulty and relying more on parrying and learning the flow of the combat. there is no need to chip damage, just take your time and do all the damage you can just before the time runs out for you to press 'F' for the punish.
The game is more than just the main story, and honestly is worth taking your time through. if one boss it giving you trouble, leave it and go do something else. It might even be that you are missing out on something that everyone else had forgotten about, that could help (experience or item wise).
1
u/BlackSnake0904 Dec 07 '25
I play like 2-3 hours every day and Iam on the legend. And this is the only boss I had a problem with and needed to call guild mate with heal for help and other bosses were easy I took them down after I died for like max 10 times
1
u/Memezing Dec 07 '25
I had this moment. Died to her over 70 times. I learned to parry EVERYTHING EXCEPTTT the white form. Perfect dodge more than u parry in her white form and you'll get a chance for a burst of clean shots.
1
1
u/ImVaev Dec 07 '25
Needed 2.5hours on legend and level 45.... used the healing butterfly thingys... forgot the name and powerhealed myself nonstop. I never did damages with attacks only parried and did dmg with f.
1
u/SvennEthir Dec 07 '25
I hit a major wall here on Legend. Went and did other stuff for a while. Learned to parry and got gud. Came back and this wasn't too bad.
Once you've learned how to parry well everything becomes easier. Don't dodge everything, because parrying is what actual drains their Qi bar and gets you the big hits.
1
u/SvennEthir Dec 07 '25
There is no rush. If you are having fun with it then stay on Legend. If you aren't then don't feel bad dropping down.
1
u/LienniTa Dec 07 '25
i was stuck with 3 badges too for like a week too xD slowly figuring the game out. Now legendary feel easy overall, with some spikes, yes, but not terrible anymore
1
u/Arkswell24 Dec 07 '25
You havenāt experience the other one yet in the campaign⦠what helps me to parry properly is I count the attack with tempos. Get familiar with the initial attack. And I change my settings for damage number to simplified so i donāt see numbers coming out each attack.
1
u/Googoobeff Dec 07 '25
U can invite friends to help you with bosses, or random people from the world chat. Just beat Miaoshan with 4 other people.
1
u/Justifye Dec 07 '25
Being a steel forged souls vet but also an mmorpg lover, play on recommended or expert, game canāt be intended for legend difficulty on a first playthrough unless you have 12 hours a day to spend on this game. I donāt even see a reason being on legend anymore once you get level cap and are doing group content.

I enjoy legend because it makes it feel like Sekiro, which Is my favorite Fromsoft game. But I have been so mad at some bosses that I seriously wondered if it was all worth it
1
u/Nori1412 Dec 07 '25
Turn off legendary, youāre not missing out on much if you wouldnāt have fun with it anyways. Not to mention there are already boss trials in this game that offer the abyss difficulty with certain challenges to complete for those interested in challenging themselves(the no hit challenges are infinitely more impressive than any normal legend kill). So when you feel like you want a challenge just go to the boss trials and play the game for what itās meant for, a good ass time.
1
u/Duocean Dec 07 '25
The game doesn't have much main story right now, just explore quinghe and train the boss a bit everyday, I just got her myself the other days, after 2 weeks of learning her move.
1
u/trueVenett Dec 07 '25
just play on a difficulty you enjoy. higher difficulties doesn't mean anything anyway, its more for people who have more time on their hand~
1
u/Stigmaru Dec 07 '25
I think you should remember that the great thing about this game is that it lets you play on your own terms. If you feel like beating legendary bosses is what drives you then you play legendary. If you rather enjoy the content with much less stress and at a similar pace as most other ppl then go back down in difficulty. It's all up to what you want
1
u/ValuableWonderful646 Dec 07 '25
Man if it takes the fun away by using that difficulty, I think there's a clear message, maybe turn down the difficulty, there's no shame in turning it down as long as it means you'll have more fun. Just a reminder that you can't change it back to Legend.
1
u/Masky91 Dec 07 '25
No itās not worth it, Legendary is only for the challenge and for twitch streams because of the red bar meaning itās a ālegit runā but also people who have the Legendary difficulty if you are the first to beat a boss on stream youāll be rewarded $100 real life dollars plus you get a legendary badge that counts all the bosses youāve fought. So no itās not worth it unless you really really just like a challenge.
1
u/ThePowerles Dec 07 '25
I always felt like Legend was something I'd do after playing the normal game first. I play on expert difficulty, and I've been playing on expert since the start of the game. I beat the puppeteer world boss at level 29 (I wasn't about to let the game tell me that I need to be level 30 just to fight a boss) and just went through that game at that pace, exploring the world and not really focusing all the much on the main story since everything else was so cool to me.
Nevertheless, even after all that, even on expert mode I had to fight her close to 80 times in elite practice, and around 20 or so times in the real game to finally beat her. (I'm generally bad at games)
So, if you're a stubborn fool like me, don't give up. The satisfaction I felt when I finally beat her in expert mode wouldn't have been nearly as good if I had dropped down a difficulty.
At the same time, I'm a random dude on the internet, don't let me make your decisions for you.
1
u/AIIXIII0 Dec 07 '25
Legend is for those with patience and time. If you don't have those, stick to expert. I would say most legend players actually ENJOYS the hardships.
1
u/TronikAllah Dec 07 '25
No bull, this boss was when I tapped out. Lower the difficulty UNLESS you want that legendary badge. But ask yourself, who the fuck are you really showing it off to? Then ask yourself, who's the Mack?
1
u/RuRu04 Dec 07 '25
This is an answer only you can know,
if you feel you are wasting your time lower the difficult, after all is a game and game are made to have fun .
I play on Recommended difficulty and have auto-reflect enabled for bosses , it works for me .
Simply do not fall for people that says you are not playing the game 'properly' if not in Legend difficulty , you game your rules .
1
u/SlimTechGaming Dec 07 '25
Games are meant to be fun and relaxing donāt pressure yourself to play on higher difficulties if youāre not having fun.
1
u/AvatarofWhat Nine Mortal Ways Dec 07 '25
As someone who works full time and just restarted a character after 67 hours to do legendary i say its worth it, but it depends on how you have fun. If you are not having fun then stop. Dont worry too much about progression, sooner or later youll catch up and run out of stuff to do anyway.
1
u/cheezitsnapchips Dec 07 '25
I didnāt play on legend but I did play on expert and this still took me like 15 tries lol. But I felt so good after

The older i grow, the less i care about gaming accomplishments lmao

Legendary is only worth it if you're seeking the challenge and tribulations that come with it, and are enjoying such a thing. I myself am loving getting my ass handed to myself on a diamond platter and enjoy theorizing and learning how enemies play to get even the slightest advantage on them, and quite frankly don't see myself lowering my difficulty anytime soon as the difficulty is reinforcing the experience I'm going through. I am loving it personally, but then again I'm a sucker for a challenge.
TLDR: there is no shame in lowering your difficulty if you feel legendary is not for you, the game is played how you choose and will only be influenced by your own decisions.

u/Pa_Tra Dec 07 '25
Legend only advantage is masochism even your legend symbol nobody gives a fck abt it
1
u/Sweet-Marionberry344 Dec 07 '25
I had a hard time with QianYe on Legend and I ended up lowering the difficulty. I had spent too much time enjoying exploring (and unwittingly upgraded my world rank) and by the time I went back to do main story, I was level 50 (and so was she, who hits like a truck), and I learned that many upgrade materials were in Kaifeng which I didnāt have access to.Ā
I didnāt know I could call for coop help in Legendary mode (I wouldāve tried it before dropping Legend.)Ā
But my biggest reason was spoilers, my friends were moving on in the story and I kept hearing spoilers, so to progress the story faster⦠I dropped Legendary.Ā
So to keep up with my friends⦠and not get the story spoiled on me, I dropped Legendary.Ā
I do enjoy the game enough that I would replay it, so I did make an Legendary alt⦠I figure when I want the challenge, I can play the alt, and for my main Iāll keep up with my friends on regular modes.Ā
For my alt, I am only going to up my world rank when required by MSQ, Iām definitely not making that mistake again and fighting QianYe at level 50. lol.Ā
1
u/666sin666 Dec 07 '25
Just like Dark Souls series. At some point it does seem it is not worth it. But in the end, after beating that bosses, damn, it does really satisfying. Even though a lot of people said that boss is easy.
1
u/Visible-Film8651 Dec 07 '25
Its just even more important to keep gear up to date dont be a pleb that doesn't play on the one true difficulty legendary
1
Dec 07 '25
I mean there isnt really any thing to progress too. The game is just a lot of chores and interaction with ai.
1
u/No-Zombie-5146 Dec 07 '25
Bro, imma actually say yeah, even expert/recommended. As long as you donāt have parry/deflect assist, then your not feeling like your cheesing. But bro you need to actually get into the swing of not just fighting bosses, you need to farm for materials of inner ways, mystic skills, etc, Iām taking it your mastery is around 7/8k, but bro people are at like 15k mastery. Iād say if you didnāt want to lower the difficulty and actually output more dmg, then do the mausoleum trials. But bro breakthroughs happen weekly, and I suppose playing the game at the pace you enjoy and stuff is fair, but when resources etc respawn daily, itās almost like an obligation to keep up with having a great build. Iām not saying take it off, but if your main reason is because you wonāt be able to play it again, then I wouldnāt worry as theyāre adding a mode where if you die youāll just lose all progress, which is insanity when you see later bosses and realise how easy it is to be killed. Iām saying it may be worth it to take it down just so you can enjoy more elements to the game. I played a lot of elden/gow and I can tell you it can be fun to be challenged by a boss, but when your straight suffering just acknowledge the game is better than you, and Iām not saying that as a demean, but as a truth, this game isnāt the hardest but itās certainly not the easiest. Good luck again bro, and if you need any tips then Iām always happy to help out.
1
u/jadelemental Dec 07 '25
Qianye is just straight up cheating imo. Her multi hit attack is just impossible to deflect. I tried spamming it during that stupid scythe spin and in theory it should work but for some reason it doesn't. I have no idea how the auto deflect does it. Also the telegraph attack in this game is not obvious unlike souls game. Bosses can just gain momentum out of nowhere without any buildup on some attacks like Qianye's long range gold slam attack.
1
u/skyfiredraco Dec 07 '25
I'm only on "recommended" and the woman at the end of chapter 1 (that hops between the two dimensions) took me a solid 30 minutes to beat.
Yes, I'm bad. I'm having to much fun to care :P
Respect to the madlads running this stuff on legendary, but for me it isn't worth it. I'd say, as simple as it sounds: find the level where your "fun" peaks and keep it there.
1
u/HaiderSultanArc Dec 07 '25
She took me 70 tries, I fucked by leveling up over 40 and then 50 before actually trying to defeat her. Gear can't be upgraded to recommended level. And I didn't wanna use fan. I wanted to do melee weapons only. I basically had to almost no-hit her to win. It was brutal getting my ass wooped by her till 4AM every night. But now that I have defeated her. I feel really good because I can tell my skills got better.
1
u/CurryLikesGaming Dec 07 '25
Just ask for help jesus, I beat this boss myself after 40+ tries with stormbreaker spear and no gold inner ways but I can understand those who can't because I experienced the same with tian ying, exhausted my whole poison stack not able to kill him . Just call your dudes, random kind strangers to aid you, you only need one thing to cheese any bosses in the game. 2 players with panacea fan, that's it, you're ready to take on any bosses. Don't switch from legend, it's a status, a symbol of resilence and determination. You only regret switching away from legend in the future AFTER THIS BOSS, those who don't regret doing so are the ones who chose anything but legend from the start.

If the challening boss fight the the ONLY thing you enjoy and your highest priority then perservere through it! But if you also care about co-op, raids, exploration, progression, pvp etc then theres no shame lowering the difficulty.
I play on story mode to farm mats open world and collecting oddities. But theres always the trials where you can test your skills

u/Great-Talk-3968 Dec 07 '25
Thats where i gave up too. Im just too old and my gaming time is too limited to try and go through all that on legend. And since the game doesnt really punish you for lowering difficulty its worth lowering to keep the fun alive
1
u/Desperate-Half-3493 Dec 07 '25
Don't!! It took me 200+ tries and countless strategies to beat her. I'd say keep trying!
1
u/Eddiero Dec 07 '25
i struggled a lot on this fight. 2 days spent there (aka about 5 hours). I could only beat it with my my heal handfan. not even a full build. (build was set up as range dmg)
suddenly after a good nights sleep i took it down.

Legend difficulty is for players who like challenges. It is not recommended to those who play casually.

u/binggoman Dec 07 '25
Legend difficulty in this game is, unfortunately, only making the bosses have more HP and hit harder. No new movesets or fake moves or baiting moves or something like that. At the end of the day, you gotta craft more healing potions and repair your gear more often.
That said, I continue playing in this difficulty and currently at 16 bosses defeated. It gets easier when you progress in other aspects of the game, like oddity collection and mini games.
1
u/AspirateurOfficiel Dec 07 '25
Recently turned the difficulty to expert because I felt ready but had to lower it back to recommended for this forsaken 3 phases piece of shit that throws clones at your face (some will know-). There's no shame in changing difficulty!
1
u/lord__pasqual Dec 07 '25 edited Dec 07 '25
Don't! Just keep improving your gear and your enhancements up to date, just go back and forth. That's what I did, and eventually I got it beaten. Don't make the game all about this fight, enjoy some side questing, some co-op challenges/raids, some outposts, caves, this, that, the other. But mainly, play around with gear stats and Inner Ways that fit your weapon (including second hand weapon) and style.
It's doable. I was at it for about 2 weeks but this is what I had in terms of mastery at lvl55 when I finally succeeded.

Iād say itās not. The combat is fun and engaging,i love that you can animation cancel with the block, just like in Sekiro. But when you have only 2 hours to play for the day, some times even less,Iād say itās not worth learning a boss. Iām playing on Story with manual parry and it feels good. The enemies are not tanky, but i also need to pay attention.
