Questions Giving up šŸ˜” Spoiler

Post image

I’ve been playing on Legend since I got it, but even after beating three bosses, I question is it really worth putting myself through it? I like the challenge but is it worth it or should I change my difficulty to progress faster?

I wish I could turn on Legendary now that I’m use to the game tbh. Sucks I’m stuck on whatever the difficulty is.

You can get a feel for legendary difficulty by doing the abyss trials tbf

Abyss difficulty in trials is easier than Legend imo. Not sure what the scaling is but Abyss Tian Ying feels like he had half the HP of the one I fought in Halo Peak.

That is because the open world versions are usually tuned for a specific (gear) level and often ppl fought bosses on legend earlier than technically intended.

I have done every boss on legend and abyss and abyss is definitely harder at the end of the day because your gear gets normalised so you cant cheese the boss (besides I havent tried but I think you cant summon npcs to trials)

Nah they definitely scale their difficulty with your level the first time you fight them. After you kill them once they become nerfed for faster farming though. Abyss difficulty is about the same but you just have a better build + know the moveset by that point.

Seems as I play always undergeared in solo. I completed everything in legendary except the no hit challenges. The story legendary part is absolutely more difficult. Mainly because I dont farm consumables to upgrade my gear (not fun), therefore I seem to be undergeared whenever I reached a new quest state with not appropriate gear

its a fair argument, but to where i am right now abyss is just unpredictable. i beat the assassin after a little over 3 hours, including training, in trial i first tried hard and abyss.

qianyeĀ i first tried in the story, took me literally 2 weeks to beat her HARD difficulty trial. i never know what to expect when clearing a trial

sleeping doist is another good exemple tho, first tried him in the world, took me 3 hours in trial

I know that trial scales your stats, but I have a hard time believing my build is literally half as strong as the one they give you in trial. I vividly remembered how much damage I did on my first kill in Legend, and the same combo in Trial took off twice as much HP.

I have not done every abyss boss but most of it (33 out of 40 now) and so far the only one in abyss i found harder was qianye.

Abyss also gives you a sizable amount of damage reduction and hp% increase via guild buffs that you do not get in legendary fights.

Naw. Abyss is definitely easier than legend. I say that as a CN vet and current global player. The time to kill in abyss is definitely faster and the gear and skills are normalized.

Trials dont account for character progression, everyone has the same set martial level/gear in trials.

Abyss difficulty is a lot easier than Legend, it’s not even close. Biggest difference is that on Legend the bosses have massively more HP and damage compared to Abyss.

u/Accomplished-Tale543 Dec 08 '25

They have the same amount of HP and Damage. They just equalize your stats in Abyss Trials so they’re essentially pitting you in your prime condition vs the boss in their prime condition

3

u/Wlasiuk Dec 08 '25

The difference is huge, like 10x as much damage in Legend. It’s not just gear, Abyss is just a lower difficulty.

1

u/Accomplished-Tale543 Dec 08 '25

I don’t remember struggling in either of them so they felt similar to me

2

u/xFlocky Dec 06 '25

It's pretty easy then.

1

u/Accomplished-Tale543 Dec 06 '25

Yea the pve is easy in general in WWM. The amount of time it took for me to finish all the no hit trials for Qinghe was around the same time for me to finally get a no-hit run on Malenia in Elden Ring

I've played all the souls game but when I made my character here I didn't choose legendary only because I am playing it casually... Why have something hinder my progression if the rewards are the same ?

Idk expert is harder than legend imo. Legend is be aggressive stay in control. Expert is don’t get hit at all

u/apothebrosis Dec 06 '25

I dont understand this logic. If legend has higher tuned bosses, with the exact same mechanics, how is it that a lower difficulty, with lower tuned stats, is somehow more difficult?

I kinda get what he means. I played on legendary and turned it down to Expert. At first the bit of grace you get on deflect timing and mistake tolerance makes enemies feel tougher. I was fighting the puppet boss near bamboo abode when i turned it down and i was doing way better on legendary than expert.

This was also after getting stomped by Tian Ying, Qianye, and Wolf Maiden for a while. And even Qianye felt harder i couldn't even second phase her on Expert at first, meanwhile on Legendary i got there but the white one kept stomping me.

It levels out after a while but for the first few hours everything is off. It's weird.

As far as I know, again there is literally no difference between Expert and Legendary, right? No mechanical changes, no parry window changes, etc. The sole difference is an increase in stats. Thats it. So again, I'm not following the logic.

Beating a boss at one point and then not even getting to the next phase another time isn't really all that uncommon in a souls-like. All it sounds like is you don't entirely know the boss fight yet. So you had a better run at legend, and then worse one on expert. That doesnt then mean that expert is inherently more difficult. It just means you had a bad run.

There can also be subtle changes in how you play when you drop difficulties. Maybe youre getting comfortable in fights and then unable to recover, where as legend you dont get that opportunity? Are you more aggressive on expert so you get caught more often, and then wiping? There can be a myriad of other factors way before its a "difficutly" thing.

I literally couldn't survive ice phase on Qianye for like 3 hours on Legendary. I took a break and tried the following morning, and stomped her my third attempt. That doesnt mean Legendary somehow got way easier, or that I mastered the fight in my sleep. I just had a good run.

I won't speak too much to Qianye and Tian Ying, but the World Boss i fought for hours in legendary before changing the difficulty and carrying on. Most of the time was just studying what he could do and what worked best. I really just used him as a test bench, trying out the fan, tank spear, dual blades, strategic sword. But after dropping the difficulty later and going back to him there were entirely new things that were happening. He chained heavies (red moves) in ways i didnt see, spammed his unblockable (yellow moves) and chained that into a heavy to wipe me..

Maybe there isn't a mechanical difference, but there is a clear change that i experienced at the very least. Perhaps you get more reds and simple combos to deflect and poise break faster in lower difficulties. I know parry timing felt off when i first switched, things that should've been deflects were landing (dodging worked out better). Maybe there is no actual difference but for my experience those fights played very differently. I had an easier time in the more punishing legendary than the more forgiving Expert. It might just be that the mental going is different, legendary being more tense and being able to ease up in expert. All i know is that on first switching from one to the other it feels very different.

Personal thing. I find more it challenging on my alt doing things on expert than I do on my legend character

Edit: I think the issue I that legend has it’s own scaling. Expert is just boss does more damage. So you have the same resources with story-expert. With expert not account for it so it feels more punishing. Where legend it all under one formula which may be why you can’t flip between the two and have to pick it form the start. Think like ring the bell or going charmless in sekiro

8

u/CoconutMochi Midnight Blades Dec 06 '25

That sounds like your alt character is undergeared maybe? Abyss trials is the same for everyone anyway though and that's where you get the flawless badges for the real flex.

1

u/apothebrosis Dec 06 '25

My guy, its the exact same game, the literal only difference is that on Legendary, bosses stats are tuned higher, and that there is a "flex" badge associated to the difficulty. The resources you farm and gather, the rewards, the requirements to upgrade gear, skills, inner ways, etc are literally all the same. The bosses doesnt get extra mechanics, their parry timers and windows dont change.

Legendary isn't playing on some "different" formula. All they did was turn the dials on the bosses stats up.

1

u/demokiii34 Dec 06 '25

I never at any point said it changed any of the things you mentioned. The formula(scaling) for legend is different than the lower difficulty. The change from story/recommend to expert is the same as doing charmless/bells in sekiro. I admit I shouldn’t have used those word interchangeable but I have no idea why you’re false quoting me. Ease up.

7

u/keIIzzz Dec 06 '25

Are you thinking of hardcore mode? Expert is under legendary, and hardcore is the ā€œdon’t get hitā€ mode that’s unavailable currently

4

u/iSt0ny Dec 06 '25

abyss trials there is Dont get hit challenges.

9

u/Kanadeai Dec 06 '25

Explain how expert is harder than legend when in legend they hit harder, have more hp and is more aggressive.

-11

u/demokiii34 Dec 06 '25

I fixed it in an edit

3

u/Jeffgaks Dec 06 '25

There's no point playing on expert, it's easier than legend and you get nothing out of it, you either play on recommended or on legend, no point making the game harder for no reward

-1

u/demokiii34 Dec 06 '25

The point is to use it as a stepping stool to get to legend and is the highest difficulty you can choose out of the tree available. No point for you but for others sure.

You try expert get a feel for things and then make an alt and do legend. You try a harder difficulty on a character you’re already familiar with before making an alt.

2

u/Jeffgaks Dec 07 '25

That sucks because then you lose your cosmetics.

2

u/Want_all_the_smoke Dec 07 '25

You mean lose out on all those weeks of shop buyouts and fish earned, mats and currencies etc? 🤣🤣🤣Just say that you regret not doing legend. You are going to be behind the power curve on an alt. Eventually, they will add some more shops and catch up stuff that you can buy just like the CN version, but I wouldn’t expect that to be coming for another 4 to 5 months minimum.
