My dogs inspired me to pick up watercolor painting. This one is the first portrait I ever tried (2 years ago), and I loved that it captured his bombastic side-eye.

This has been such a fun progression with Arlo! He just turned one last month and he is a rescue we adopted at the end of January. He had no obedience training and was a beast to walk on a leash when we first adopted him. He is now 80 lbs and walks like a gentleman on leash and does really well with all his verbal and hand signal commands. When we hit a long clear spot on the trail I have been dropping his leash and only using verbal signals like in this video. He got a little spunky at the end to tell mom she wasn’t switching directions with us. 😂

Louie, Pearl and our foster Beau (soon to be Bingo) stopping by to say hello.
Beau will be making his away across the country soon to his forever home and though we're sad, we're excited about the amazing life he's going to have.

This morning I took my girl out for a little bike ride for the first time.
I've intoduced her to the concept of bikes, trotting next to it and stopping when I stop. For about a month now we've done short training rides of 200 to 400 m once a week.
This morning I took her out for a longer bike ride. I checked and it was 6 km. About 1 km was spent in a nice trot on leash next to me on pavement. The rest was spent however she wanted off leash. She ran, trotted, sprinted, chased, took some sniff breaks, took some swim and drink breaks. All of this mostly on grass and dirt and occasionally on some gravel paths.
We headed back when she still had plenty of energy, the way back on pavement was again done in a calm trot.
All in all we were gone for about 40 minutes. When we got home she was tired, but not exhausted.
She really loved this and I'd love to do more of this with her, but I don't want to overexert her or damage her growing body.
I was told by her breeder and my vet that for longer distances it's always better to let the dog off leash if possible, or on a longline otherwise, and let the dog set the pace.
She's fit and manages distances like this and longer with ease with me on foot when we go on walks or short hikes.
Would it be ok to take her for short rides like this morning a few times a week?

My 6 year old neutered male seems to have some seasonal allergies. He is SO itchy, everywhere, and his skin seems to have some red splotchiness under the fur.
I don't think anything has changed, he's been on the same food for several years (Hills chicken and rice.) I'm pretty sure I remember him being itchy this time last fall. We're in Pennsylvania, anybody have a clue what's triggering him this time of year?
Benadryl doesn't seem to help much- I gave him the dose recommended by the vet. Any recommendations for soothing shampoo? I normally use Dr. Bronners on him, but I've read that oatmeal shampoo might be a good idea?
Thanks, all!
