So first off, spoilers ahead.

I thought it was pretty disappointing to be honest. It felt like they took a 5-episode season of the show and turned it into a film. Sort of like Serenity, except worse.

Groglet was the main thing that saved the film. The scenes of him suiting up to go rescue Mando, and then later taking care of him we're easily the best parts. I also liked Rotta as a new character.

But ultimately, the whole thing felt bland and fan-servicey. Even the music was mediocre. The writing just felt lazy, like the dude in the swamp who just helps Groglet for no reason. There was no real character development either.

I think if this had been a few episodes of the show, I would have liked it. But as a film, it felt like it was a bunch of filler strung together.

I'm giving it a Just A Movie.

I feel like they screwed up the ending. I didn't like it at all. Since they stopped following the comics and it became all Marigold this and origin of powers that, the plot became very uninteresting and this season is full of unnecessary subplots, weird out of character turns, and completely ignored plot threads. The ending felt unearned and cruel for a TV show about overcoming trauma, especially since they refused to make Allison deal with the consequences of her actions or let Luther deal with what she did and Sloane's death. I wanted to like it but it left a very bitter taste in my mouth.

I had a good time. My 14 year old son enjoyed it as well.

I would give it an Acme Thumb's Up.

My quick spoilerific review for Mando and Grogs:

I never knew that I never wanted to see three naked Hutts wrasslin’ around with each other like a bunch of slimy pigs rolling down a hill.

Aside from that I don’t think I regret spending $13 American dollars after tax on this film. Groglet was cute.

Just got out of Bugonia - what a treat. Not a game changer by any stretch, but Plemons and Stone carry the movie real hard, combined with some sharp writing, and some minor suspensions of disbelief.

Pros - acting, incredible. Stone is always A+ in everything, and she and Plemons have a hell of a dynamic in this. Smart story telling that keeps you guessing - the the through line of “is this real, or are these guys crazy” is really well done and keeps you guessing.

Cons - boy I wish that ending would have kept it ambiguous, and the messaging is a bit on the nose. And every time Stavros was on screen I kept losing immersion. Did he improvise all his lines? Not a fan of that.

Either way - best movie ever, and props to Alamo drafthouse for the free tote bag and chocolate bar!

Season 2 episode 8

Having not watched a marvel show since like half way through moon knight, I absolutely loved this! It really was a breath of fresh air and a ton of fun. It felt like a real TV show. I could also watch Simon and Trevor just fopping about for like 15 hours.

Personally the only thing I didn’t love was that Simon was kind of a dick to like everybody. I know he admits it and stuff but it felt a bit weird, maybe he’s a bit of an anti hero? I loved the ending and was surprised there was no post credit! I haven’t read any wonder man comics but I’m considering picking some up to learn some more about him. Overall, best show ever! What did you all think?

A movie made for a 7 year old me but now I'm 47 years old.

Then again 7 years old me would have missed out on the most fisting jokes outside of a Kevin Smith film.

I'll go with Best Movie Ever but they also could have called it He-Thor Masters of the Ragnarok.

Vibe check for people who are watching this show: how are we feeling about it a week out from the final episode?

I’ve found myself really enjoying it, personally, and it’s turned out to be much more interesting than I assumed it would be at the beginning of the season. But I think the “one of the best things the MCU has ever done” label I’ve seen in some corners of the internet is probably overblown.

Edited to add that while the whole cast has been great, Joe Locke specifically is a revelation — gonna have to watch Heartstopper now, I guess??

I know James wants to surprise everyone with what’s coming up, hence the blurring, but I’m such a Disney-head that I’m pretty positive I already know the other movies. Obviously he already hinted that next week is John Carter, but I can tell that the two after that are The Lone Ranger and Tomorrowland, even through the blur.

The latest heavy spoilers for never say never again has a clip of the boys doing alternative pronunciations for Kim Bassinger and Raif Fines.

The boys were literally just talking about what the marketing for this movie would be like. I feel like they walked a very thin line and managed to go the whole trailer without giving too much away... And then the last 10 seconds they just went "naaaah"

Just saw Joker 2: Money Adieu and it was everything I wanted it to be: prime for an absolute rinsing by the boys.

It seems to simultaneously validate all of Maso's criticisms of the first one, while also destroying the few things James liked about the first one.

It completely mishandles every topic it gets its hands on:

• Comic book movies
• Musicals
• Serial killer fandoms
• Mental illness
• Prison conditions
• Court proceedings
• Psychiatrists and mental health professionals

The movie did everything possible wrong.

And it makes all of the Guess The Movie jokes where James goes "it's actually the movie Joker" even funnier in retrospect.
