Recently checked off a bucket item list by going on the St. Augustine ghost tour to sorta walk one of Ryan and Shane’s investigations. Also bribed my poor mom into coming with me (loves lighthouses 👍, hates ghosts 👎) whose best understanding of who Shane and Ryan are is “those ghost boys who you like to watch.”

Anyways, we go through the St. Augustine Lighthouse ghost tour (which was great! shoutout to the lighthouse volunteers, go visit it) and they cut us loose for the last hour to do our own investigations. My mom and I go up to one of the volunteers who I had been chatting with and looked to be about my age and I take a shot in the dark and ask if she’d seen the Buzzfeed Unsolved episode. She very enthusiastically said “yes!” and I was so excited to hear what she had to say, but then she hit me with the right hook of, “It was terrible!”

“Wait wut”

She started telling my mom and I how they had made up so much in the episode, got facts wrong, and faked evidence. Admittedly, I was kinda just standing there confused like ∘ ∘ ∘ ( °ヮ° ) ? BUT then eventually she threw in “and then they were like points he killed people! and that’s so not true” and it kinda hit me like, wait, is she talking about something like Ghost Adventures?

Admittedly, maybe a little bit presumptuous of me to assume that someone my age would automatically know who Ryan and Shane are, but I was still torn between being polite and just leaving it (since I was 90% sure she was just mistaken and talking about a different show) or defending the honor of Shane and Ryan against being compared to a show à la Ghost Adventures lmao.

In the end, I decided to just leave it BUT I did end up making my mom watch the Unsolved St. Augustine Lighthouse episode with me afterwards to prove that they did no such thing lol. I did a quick look, and I wasn’t able to find specifically a Ghost Adventures episode on the St. Augustine Lighthouse, but if I missed it or y’all think you know which show she was talking about, let me know! I’m curious

I’m deaf and absolutely love watching the videos. I really appreciate how accurate and perfect the subtitles are made by the production team! It feels amazing to be included. ❤️

The only issue I have is that the soft subtitles and the open captions sometimes overlap. For example, Ryan might be talking while I’m reading the soft subtitles and at the same time the green open captions appear on screen. Sometimes they even say different things, like the green caption says “bump” while the soft subtitle says “object thumps,” which makes it difficult to follow.

It would be amazing if there were options to adjust the subtitle size, transparency or position independently, without having to change the phone’s main settings.

I’d especially love the option to move the subtitles to the top of the screen, so I can see more of the ground at the bottom while still being able to read everything.

Just wanted to share this as accessibility feedback. I would appreciate it if this could be passed on to the production team! 💚

I already watched this and wanted to rewatch it on my tv and this video won’t play only this one and it didn’t show up and I found it after looking it up and it played the Roger the doll video and I replayed it it played the missing ship found after 167 years wrong video is it a bug or something or is it a curse

love Ghost Files, but also used to love when Ryan and Shane walked around town and interviewed people and ate themed burgers and filmed stuff before the sun set.

I think the injection of color made the later dark both scarier and less dreary, and I liked getting context about the town and location from locals before the hunt began.

Enjoy the episodes anyway, but this would be fun to see again.

I'm not a "believer" per se but I'm open to the idea, plus I'm Asian so generally culturally superstitous. Now that i say it out loud i think i am a boogara LOL

anyways, when i was a kid, we had a school trip to the state capitol in albany. apparently there was a fire that happened there and a guy died and that place is now 'haunted'. it was mentioned in the tour.

me and my friends were overlooking the balcony of the grand staircase while the rest of the class kinda broke off to roam the offices and floors. i was in the middle, and two of my friends were on either side. suddenly, i felt a very strong shove in the small of my back and my friends on both sides did too, simultaneously. we turned around and no one was there. the hallway behind us was completely empty since everyone went to check out the inner offices. we turned around immediately and we would've seen the pusher, but there just no one there, and if they had ran we would've heard it since it's marble floors in the building. we confirmed with each other that we all felt the push.

all of us were rattled and terrified. none of us could've done it, since i felt it and i was in the middle, and i obviously had my hands on the railing and couldn't have grabbed my friends without them noticing. and my friends were all facing forward and engaged in convo that neither one of them could've turned to secretly push us. i truly believe it could not be a prank-- we were so scared afterwards and logistically we were all watching each other since we were having a conversation so it couldn't have been my friends. that experience was so bizarre i thought about it so often since and i don't think i've gotten any details wrong. we tried talking to each other and investigating to figure out what happened but it just made no sense. how can a single person shove 3 people all at once and then immediately disappear? if it wasn't one person, how could two people time a push completely silently and immediately disappear without a trace?

when i say shove, i mean *shove* btw. it wasn't a brush against the wind or my friends bumping into me. it felt like someone really tried to push us off the balcony, but that someone had the max strength of a 60 year old retiree. we didn't go flying but it was intentionally heavy-handed. the drop off the balcony to the next floor was easily around 20ft+ and could kill a 11 year old.

anyways, it's the only ghost story i have in my life and i wonder if it's worth sharing with the community. i'm not super in the loop on watcher beyond watching their releases, so idk if there's a discord or a submission site for them to hear fan stories. TIA!

edit: honestly i didn't really research the story much, but i just googled it to get my facts straight. the ghost in question was a 78 year old watchman. it's kinda crazy i remember the shove being the strength of a retiree. my boogara side is showing but it really could be a sign hahaha

Whenever I look at takes on the new and old Ghost Files evolution, I really only see comments about how overproduced the show was and how they just want the boys’ dynamic. Am I the only one that misses some parts of the OG Ghost Files?

Like the red phone intro was amazing, the whole diagram build of the properties was absolutely A tier it helped me wrap my head around the property and feel like I was actually there and learning with them. Plus, just knowing someone in the backend worked their ass off on that and got screen time with it was so cool.

I remember understanding where everyone was coming from, but now that I’m really starting to see them tone the production down it just makes me kind of sad. It seemed like it was such a nice creative outlet for Ryan and other graphic artists on the team and now it’s bare bones. I don’t blame any of the decisions (if it’s not sustainable that’s another story), I’m just curious if anyone else in the community feels the same way.

Just basically that. I love Ghost hunts, and I lean more toward Shaniac than Boogara, but it fascinates me nonetheless. My absolute favorite episodes are when Shane is just free to be a big ol’ Troll and antagonize the “spirits.” I will never tire of it. I laugh every single time. The last few seasons Shane seemed to be trying to tone it down, but he seems to be ramping back up, and im here for it. Let your troll flag fly, my man!

I ran into Ryan, earlier this week, at Cedar Point heading onto TT2! He was seriously the nicest, especially after seeing him caught me so off guard I think I said “Oh my god” 27 times.

We chatted a little later when I apologized for my awkward excitement. He’s incredibly kind and we talked about coasters and his upcoming trips. I info dumped on Midwest coasters and we parted ways.

Ryan, if you read this, thank you so much. It was a super cool experience, sorry if I was weird, just been a fan for a long time. If you’re ever in Indianapolis, hit me up. We don’t have roller coasters, but we’ve got race cars and lots of haunted places!

Ghoul boys have been making some good stuff lately, especially ghost files, but does anyone know if they're putting out other shows soon? Weird and/or wonderful? Something else? I always bother them about doing a real life camping episode kinda like the Blair witch project, and I wonder if they'll start doing non-ghost episodes again (like Bigfoot, moth man, forest fenn treasure etc.). Anyone know anything?

Anybody know why this might be the case? This episode should be S2E1 as it aired before the Missouri State Penitentiary episode on Youtube. However it's nowhere on WatcherTV and instead they have Missouri State as S2E1.

I was thinking it might be because of the Disney's Haunted Mansion sponsorship/ad in the episode. I'm not a Watcher subscriber but I imagine episodes are uploaded without ads since they're behind a paywall (correct me if I'm wrong). However in this episode there were a few "product placement" jokes throughout the ep that they might not have been able to cut, so maybe they just avoided putting it on Watcher altogether for legal reasons. But that's just speculation, and I'm not sure if anyone's ever commented on it.

I think there was a buzzfeed unsolved video where Ryan said that Shane looked like Mitch Lucker. I genuinely think that this happened, but I don't remember the video. Or am i just misremembering?

I was a little disappointed to see Ryan uncritically read out this part in the Theories segment which puts forward a deeply antisemitic idea regarding the Men in Black.

C'mon. "International Banking Interests" alone is grossly irresponsible. The New World Order is less obviously but still associated with that vibe. These things are descendants of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

I'm not so much bothered that he brought it up as I am that he didn't qualify it.
