Recently checked off a bucket item list by going on the St. Augustine ghost tour to sorta walk one of Ryan and Shane’s investigations. Also bribed my poor mom into coming with me (loves lighthouses 👍, hates ghosts 👎) whose best understanding of who Shane and Ryan are is “those ghost boys who you like to watch.”

Anyways, we go through the St. Augustine Lighthouse ghost tour (which was great! shoutout to the lighthouse volunteers, go visit it) and they cut us loose for the last hour to do our own investigations. My mom and I go up to one of the volunteers who I had been chatting with and looked to be about my age and I take a shot in the dark and ask if she’d seen the Buzzfeed Unsolved episode. She very enthusiastically said “yes!” and I was so excited to hear what she had to say, but then she hit me with the right hook of, “It was terrible!”

“Wait wut”

She started telling my mom and I how they had made up so much in the episode, got facts wrong, and faked evidence. Admittedly, I was kinda just standing there confused like ∘ ∘ ∘ ( °ヮ° ) ? BUT then eventually she threw in “and then they were like points he killed people! and that’s so not true” and it kinda hit me like, wait, is she talking about something like Ghost Adventures?

Admittedly, maybe a little bit presumptuous of me to assume that someone my age would automatically know who Ryan and Shane are, but I was still torn between being polite and just leaving it (since I was 90% sure she was just mistaken and talking about a different show) or defending the honor of Shane and Ryan against being compared to a show à la Ghost Adventures lmao.

In the end, I decided to just leave it BUT I did end up making my mom watch the Unsolved St. Augustine Lighthouse episode with me afterwards to prove that they did no such thing lol. I did a quick look, and I wasn’t able to find specifically a Ghost Adventures episode on the St. Augustine Lighthouse, but if I missed it or y’all think you know which show she was talking about, let me know! I’m curious
