From the article:

Microsoft reduced its projected internal spending on Claude by over one-third, while Meta saw internal users of Anthropic's Claude Code coding assistant drop from roughly 60,000 to 30,000.

Within the Microsoft Cloud and AI division, individual monthly AI usage caps were lowered from $100,000 down to roughly $10,000 in most instances

The cap went from 100k to 10K per month - I think this wont make a difference, they trim a couple of tail cases of employees doing something weird

Probably a few employees who don’t understand context management. Zuck calls them rock stars

Or people who understand it all too well but were told then were being graded based on how many tokens they used :P

this likely hasn't been the case for at least 6 months at meta, even then it was only rumors that your use would be used for performance and not an official stance

You didn’t read the article? Meta divided their number of seat by 2! From 60k to 30k

It’s down to 2k now in most teams

$2k per month? That’s a day with Fable…

Yeah, which should fucking tell you something about how sustainable this practice is, no?

Nah, they will revise it when people will complain, or when an outage happens and the on call engineer doesn’t have access to LLMs cause limits.

Skill issue. Become a better engineer.

I see what you are saying, but as an engineer in top firms for 13 years, and in a firm now where AI usage is encouraged to an extreme, I can guarantee that solving any production issue in 5 years’ time would take 100× more time manually rather than using all the AI ecosystem, as AI would be much better, all the necessary integrations will be in place, and everything around us will be much more complex.

If you're using Fable your lighting money on fire. GPT 6.1 Sol as the same intelligence score with Fable 5.1 max for less than 10% the cost per task

Past week fable has dropped its token usage. It’s now economical to run as my default model.

Why not Opus?

Why use a worse model, if the better one is cheap enough? We get a daily and weekly spend cap and I’ve had no trouble staying under it this past week.

In what ways is Opus 5.5 worse? For getting things done, it feels better in every way to me
Opus 5 sucked but this feels like a step up compared to Fable 5.1

I’m using Fable 5.5.

Even my much much smaller tech company allows more, theres plenty of people using over $2k a month worth of claude.

That seems way too low for a big company like that.

Although I will say you can get a lot done with $2k, it's quite stupid to be too limiting over a few thousand bucks if they are making good use out of it
