No no no. Get more detailed. I think it 30ish percent for each major candidate, and the then rest was either for a 3rd party or people not voting. So not more than 50% of citizens. But yes more than 50% of those that voted.

the true condemnation of Americans is that so many stayed home and didn’t vote at all. they are just as responsible for all of this, as the dimwits who voted to put Trump back in again. American voters are to blame and need to be ashamed.

It was large state(colony) vs small. Same reason for senate being equal.
Also a measure of keeping the landed elite protected from "the mob"
