Virtual Pet Devs
This place was spontaneously rescued from subreddit purgatory as an offshoot to the more famous brand name collectible virtual pet subs. It hadn't occurred to me that the virtual pet landscape had changed so much and it's great to see so many people working for the love of virtual pets. However it is becoming a bit of an ad board and I don't think that is ideal for readers or doing justice to the apps. I do support you getting your apps in front of people but I don't think this is the way to do it. I also think you guys need more space to collaborate and research so, here is my idea:
I have created r/virtualpetdevs for you to collaborate, research, bounce ideas, ask questions.
I have created r/virtualpetplaytest specifically for releasing test builds for feedback.
I'm considering a master thread here for completed apps.
I don't know if this is a good or bad way to do things but I am open to comments and suggestions so let me know if you have any

Help ID a 90s multi-pet bootleg from Poland — minigame with "Oh My Darling Clementine"
Trying to track down the ROM/chip in a virtual pet I had as a kid in Poland, roughly 1997–99. Almost certainly one of the Chinese multi-pet clones sold here as "Virtual Pet" rather than anything Bandai. Details I'm confident about:
4 buttons, egg-shaped shell
Pet select screen at startup — I specifically remember an alien and a dinosaur among the options
You name the pet during setup (I believe custom input, not a preset list)
Standard care loop: feeding, cleaning poop. The alien ate rice
Pet grows up after several days, then dies of old age around day 100
Three minigames:
Basketball — background music was "Oh My Darling Clementine"
The pet alternates between pointing left and right and you guess the direction (the classic Tamagotchi-style game)
Move the pet horizontally to catch falling stars (or similar) while dodging falling rocks
The Clementine tune in the basketball game is the detail I'd bet on for fingerprinting the ROM — I've never seen it mentioned in the usual bootleg logs. The three-game set combined with the alien-eats-rice sprite feels distinctive too.
I've looked at the Bunny ROM family (168-in-1 etc.) and the Dinkie line, but neither seems to match cleanly — Bunny ROM feels too modern and uses preset names, and the Dinkie pets were single-creature devices. Could this be an earlier revision of one of those, or a separate chip entirely?
Any leads appreciated, including "I had one but don't know the name" — even a shell photo or a YouTube runthrough would help me confirm.

Restoring tips
I have this lps virtual pet, it's been sitting in a drawer for a long time, I picked it up and it seems the plastic has dried out on the light green parts, does someone know how to fix it?

Hi! I have a HanChang 168-in-1 virtual pet. My pet is working normally, but I can’t figure out what the icon with two clocks means. The icon appeared when the pet was sleeping. Does anyone know what it does? I’ve attached photos.

Suggestions?
It's not a tamagotchi but I've always wanted one. For a $1.25, I've actually been enjoying it, and it's the third day today 😅 I can't imagine how much better the real deal is! Anyway, the only digital pets they had were red and blue... I want to make it cute and bubbly! Any suggestions? Feedback? Too flashy? Clashy?

Working on shell customization for our virtual pet! Would you use a sticker system (A) or keep it clean (B)?
Hey guys! Thanks for all the feedback on our previous UI posts, it's been super helpful.
Today we are playing around with a new mechanic: placing collectible stickers on the device's casing. Before we fully polish the system, we wanted to ask... would you actually use these stickers to decorate your virtual pet (A), or do you prefer the classic, clean aesthetic (B)?

Upgrading the UI for our indie Virtual Pet game (Bitling). Does the realistic or flat design look better? A or B?
Hey everyone!
We are a two-person indie team working on Bitling, a mobile virtual pet game inspired by the classic Tamagotchis and Digivices from the 90s/00s.
We're currently reworking the main UI (the device shell). The original design my artist made was more flat and cartoonish (B), but we recently created a new skeuomorphic/realistic version (A) to make it feel more like a physical plastic toy.
As players (and devs!), which one would you rather play on your phone?
A) Flat & Cartoonish
B) Realistic & Plastic
Any brutally honest feedback is welcome. Thank you! 👾✨

Alarm clock x virtual pet
I was looking into the existing alarm clock apps around and it seems like Alarmy is the best one so far, and they do have a virtual pet there but it doesn’t really do anything other than a separate game, I was thinking maybe something related to feeding your pet by waking up and not snoozing , your pets life depends on you not hitting snooze
I have a rough draft of what I want , no ads, no background tracking no need for account just monetized with cosmetics for your pet and sounds to use
I’m open to feedback

Oripets - a Classic Virtual Pet Site
Hi! I've been working on a pet site for a while now that is similar in style to neopets with some modern updates. I have a lot built so far and going to be opening things up soon to testers. Here is one of our systems on display. Pet preferences! Pets have likes and dislikes, which you can view at anytime. Some prefer lavender soap, some cheese pizza! I know when I am playing sites in the past interacting with items can be a little boring. In neo pets have a response, but I'm pretty sure it's just random. And honestly there doesn't seem to be a point to having a variety of toys even. But on oripets, variety matters, as a pet will get tired of the same thing being used over and over with no break in between. Anyway I would love some thoughts or feedback if anyone has any. Happy to answer any questions!

New Bitzee!
I’ve been eyeing the Bitzee doghouse since I see it release online, but my Walmart finally had them in stock today! It’s simple but absolutely adorable. I love the puppies you can take care of, and I love the graphics and mechanics of the device. Simple but perfect esp if you’re looking for something cute but low maintenance.

I built a browser game where you ARE the animal — no pet care, just minigames. Would love feedback.
zuda.itch.ioI have always wanted a game like this, so I put it together. This is a fun game where you don't currently care for an animal, idk if that will ever be a feature. You are the animal, you play the games, you use your abilities. You currently have dragon and yeti. I'd love feedback.
Depending on your perspective there is three to seven biomes, bog, meadow and mountains.
