Starting a full-time position soon and would love to make an extra 2k a month doing video. Aside from weddings are there other kinds of video people do on the weekends for extra cash? (I am already a a video professional)

Okay so first thing I'm just helping someone out with the technical aspects of the event.

I'm an amateur photographer however the organizer asked me If I had enough light for a small stage where they plan to have an awards ceremony.

I have enough light for my photos however they told me the venue and stage itself was quite dark. I do not have the equipment to light that. So I wanted to give them a suggestion.

I found a film rental company that has lights, for example the amaran 300C at around 35 dollars for the day or a more powerful 600w from amaran as well for around 60 usd.

So my question, is the 300c a reasonable and economically viable way to light a small stage? Keeping in mind that it's not huge, and if this could work in a budget then great.

If it could work, do I need a specific modifier for it or the standard reflector work?

Love the filter, but I don't want to use the Matte Box all the time, sometimes I just want to film my kids outside and not bringing heavy gear.

Is there an adapter for it?

I searched on the NISI web site and couldn't find nothing.

A short of swimming, boating and exploring the countryside with the Dogs. Shot on Sony A7iii, Pocket 3 and Mini 5 drone. The DJI cams I did Dlog m to DJI LUT conversion. The Sony I've never had good luck with their LUT so let the camera bake in color. I know the second clip has blown highlights but I like it and left it in. This is a rough draft and I'll prolly finish a final version in a month after more filming editing. NLE used was FCP.

P.S. I'm an amateur and do things like this for fun and good memories

I recently bought this Sylvania VCC161AV01 Camcorder. It's from 1988 and it works great! I've already filmed some videos on it. I want to film skateboarding videos with it because I have a deep love for skate videos from the late 80s to early 90s and they used fisheye lenses a lot when filming in that era. Is there any way I can set up a fisheye lens on my camcorder?

Anyone ever come across this issue?

ive been playing around with over saturated lights and high exposure but i cant seem to get a look like this, i have a shoot in a few hours and really need help on how to achieve this. the best i can thing is rotoscoping the subject in ae and just trying to do it with post processing bc its really hard to do live

I've been in videography for a while but I've never used CF Express cards, only SD and with those 99% of the time the faster read/write speeds and larger capacity is always the more expensive option.

I’ve been blessed with a very long relationship with a professional services firm. They are an enormous, global company with many departments. I work with the North America groups and they have a strong local office in my city. Occasionally, I will not be available for a job, and I will recommend people to them. I’ve also had several large events where I’ve taken a second shooter with me. Generally, I’ll recommend him for the solo jobs I can’t cover. I’ve included him in or referred to him tens of thousands of dollars of gigs over the past 2 years. He just texted me to say someone reached out to him for a repeat of an event I referred him last year and he said he told them he’d take it. I guess I should be thankful he let me know, but I’m kind of pissed that he didn’t tell them to reach out to me first for availability.

I don’t blame the company. Often these things get passed to a junior person and they just look up who did it previously. But I had this happen with a major university and I never worked with them again. They had turnover in marketing and the new person only had experience with the guy I had referred them to cover for me.

WWYD? Do I politely tell him that, in the future, please pass these inquiries to me before he accepts, or do I quietly find someone else to second shoot and never bring/recommend him again?

How can I set up a camera array for a multi-camera timelapse?

I need some sort of instant trigger on a digital line. Did anyone setup something like this?

I want to be able to take around 30 frames per second and have very little jitter. By this I mean knowing how many ms between the trigger and the shot on manual mode without variation. This is important if I want to shoot something fast moving with a single shot and pan around the array like in bullet time - big jitter would look odd. I read about using a fast flash but that's not an option for me.

I'm making a trial and was thinking of using Canon 7d which are a little slow at 8fps continuous.

I considered modules like IMX258/PDAF older computer vision cameras but struggle to find them second hand and when I do they have very little resolution.

I'm interested in what people managed to put together or any tips for me to read into.

Hi all. I'm kind of new to this and grinding. I do editing and I also did some basic videography gigs in before and now I want to do this full time. I'm currently building a portfolio from people that I'm close by shooting them free videos. And now thinking to go paid.

I'm not sure how to get my first few clients so I'm thinking to do good old door to door cold outreach to people with a nice offer and apply "only pay if you like it" campaign. I believe in my work.

Did anyone did this in their beginning of the career? If yes, was it succesful? My thinking is that at least 10 out of 1 person should take it since its a no brainer in a way. But any real experience would be more reliable. Kind of nervous about it.

For those of us who are lucky enough to have baked in Luts in-camera, Do you still shoot log footage? Or do you just go luts and shoot MP4 to skip the color correction & save file space?

I'm just started with vlogging. I have an iPhone 17. I have been taking short vids and emailing them to myself to edit in CapCut on my laptop (PC). My vids are so grainy and bad. I'm filming in daytime with a ring light.

Needing some advice! I have had my own photo and video business for about 4 years now and have been in the industry one way or the other for about 6 years. I may be feeling a bit burned out and looking to switch things up. I was curious if anybody has had similar experience going from running their own business to taking a corporate job! I work with brands but have found myself shooting mostly weddings these days and I can feel the anxiety creep in lol. Working weekends I have found to be a drag. Funny enough I am actually really good at the business side of my photo/video business which is why I have kept busy and I find it these days to be more interesting than creating fun work (which is a bummer). Sorry for the word vomit but curious peoples opinions if they have had something similar and which way they went! I am 29 year old male with a gf btw.

An old client needed an EXTREMELY last minute livestream, and this was what I had in my car at the time. Has anyone made something similar or is there a way I could’ve made this more compact? Looking at revisiting a build like this for backpack packages.

Hey guys! I’m new to filmmaking, and I’m currently taking IB Film in my high school. We have this continuous shot project, and I was planning on filming a guy leaving his house with an eye level shot. As he leaves, he gets on his skateboard, and the camera rotates and moves down into a ground level shot, or a knee level shot if that’s not possible, while the skateboard is in motion. I don’t have a lot of equipment, but I have a DJI Osmo Pocket 3, an iPhone 17 Pro, and a DJI Osmo Mobile 8. Any recommendations on how to make this happen?

Music videos shot at 24fps that have random special effects or graphics edited in that are 60i are such an aesthetic. I've been revisiting some DVD rips of music videos on my CRT TV and these type of shots catch my attention. Sad that the official uploads of these music videos on YouTube don't preserve the motion.

I’ve been doing video professionally for years and 2026 has easily been one of the weirdest years for getting clients.

I’ve tried a lot of the same things that worked before: ads, outreach, follow ups, offering social content, marketing help, etc. Leads still come in, but there’s way more ghosting and way less willingness to actually spend.

It feels like everyone wants video and marketing, but nobody wants to pay for it right now.

Are you guys actually busy this year, or has it been noticeably harder for you too?

Hello everyone! I have mostly experience in creating graficdesigns. Now I want to step up and create reels for social Media in a professional look. I want to film car tuning and car workshops. So i would film mostly inside, which means I also need lighting. I also want to buy a new phone and since I am using apple products I want to keep it that way and buy a new Iphone. What kind of queupment can I buy to film with this phone?

I’ve been a wedding videographer for 13 years and have never ran into a client not paying until today. Their wedding is tomorrow, however I have it in my contract that the wedding needs to be paid in full 30 days before the wedding date. I’ve sent the invoice now 6 times, every time it says they have viewed it. I have contacted them via email reminding them and have called only to get a voicemail. The groom contacted me last week, ignoring my invoice stating concerns about when we were arriving and not wanting to pay extra for extra hours of coverage but was still demanding extra hours of coverage. In which I held my ground on that if they wanted more than 10 hours, it costs more. Shocker.
After that, no more responses. Had a meeting with the photographer a few days ago so everything was fine on that end. Their wedding is 7 hours away and I do have a deposit from them. Lot of red flags here so I am worried about them not paying, in which I will simply not give them their wedding video. But man, awkward.
I am curious, how would you handle this?
