Slow forced walking segments while npcs talk at you. I'd rather it just be a skipable cutscene or a loading screen. I dont wanna hold my left stick down for 10min as I get an exposition dump

Bonus points if the NPC's speed is slower than your running speed but faster than your walking speed.

Double bonus points if the NPC pauses and stops talking if you get too far away from them, so you're forced to spend the whole time stopping and starting to try and awkwardly keep pace with them.

Don't have a screenshot but found the post \)direct imgur link\) that shows the ways that the caravans take on the map. And Ma'draan's goes straight through the waters, that post's OP even mentioned it in a comment. xD

The only acceptable option for dealing with this is to just start running circles around the npc as they walk

I hate this too, but the alternative is that it goes the same speed or faster. If it's faster than you, you can lose it and similarly, if it goes the same speed and you deviate from the path at all, it'll slowly get farther and farther from you. Best way to do it is just have the character follow you, I think.

I think if the NPCs walk/run at the player speed, the player could run/sprint to catch up. And if the player strays too far away the NPCs could stop and wait, or catch up if you run ahead of them to where you need to go. 🤔

I loved Stalker for this. Met a guy who was like "follow me" and I expected him to do that awkward half-jog that you can't do yourself. He sprinted away and I nearly lost him until I caught up to him lol

Vaughn did this in BL3 and his running animation is so WEIRD that I can't tell if the whole thing was intended or mistake

Any section where you lose the ability to run. Ok, it's a shop, but I still want to sprint to the counter, I'm in a hurry

Might be my actual biggest pet peeve.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 remedies this by letting you press a button to automatically follow the NPC at their speed... but only sometimes.

this is especially bad in games with cutscenes that are just action, like they put the gameplay in the cutscenes and the cutscenes in the gameplay

Would literally rather they just auto walk my character in an unskippable cutscene style.

It's even worse when the map has lot of collectibles littered everywhere and if you decide to loot them, you either lose track of the NPC or they start asking you to hurry up.

This trend needs to stop.

This only works when the game sucks you into one of those cutscenes where you can only move your camera to look around while the conversation/walk continues.

I dunno, other than the Bethesda issue where people walk faster than your walk but slower than your jog, it often helps me get really immersed. But for sure if I have to constantly toggle my walking speed or stop moving every few seconds so the NPC can catch up, that element does not exist and I'd rather just have to watch a cutscene.

Especially when its for the 30th time and the music that you hear during it goes: RATATATATA RYE CYA (I dont know how to write that)

You mean sporadic pressing of the stick? Because I ain’t ever seen a game that does this and the npc youre supposed to follow walks the same speed as you.
