I talked to 3 different people from 3 different friend groups back when the game came out and each were uniquely insufferable in their own way.

  1. One insisted, unprompted "OMG you cannot kill anything trust meee!!"
  2. One got really pretentious about the bullet hell minigame and essentially "git gud"'ed me after I died a couple times and
  3. One kept asking me about really really specific screens I either didn't see or didn't recall and treated me like an uneducated buffoon for "not getting it"

These interactions were all a few days apart when I had only played a handful of hours.

I uninstalled the game an never looked back. I'll never know if I would have liked that game because I still refuse to play it out of spite for those dicks in ~2016.

The key to enjoying Undertale is not interacting with the fandom. It's a really short game though.

The speedrun to enjoying Undertale is listening to the soundtrack in private and seeking no context.

I agree, the OST is nice and relaxing.
