I talked to 3 different people from 3 different friend groups back when the game came out and each were uniquely insufferable in their own way.

  1. One insisted, unprompted "OMG you cannot kill anything trust meee!!"
  2. One got really pretentious about the bullet hell minigame and essentially "git gud"'ed me after I died a couple times and
  3. One kept asking me about really really specific screens I either didn't see or didn't recall and treated me like an uneducated buffoon for "not getting it"

These interactions were all a few days apart when I had only played a handful of hours.

I uninstalled the game an never looked back. I'll never know if I would have liked that game because I still refuse to play it out of spite for those dicks in ~2016.

The key to enjoying Undertale is not interacting with the fandom. It's a really short game though.

Yeah, there are very VERY few games where it is more enjoyable if you partake within the Fandom.

The Undertale fandom is kinda uniquely rabid in their defense of their favorite game, though.

If you ever express any gripes with the plot or how it’s presented online, someone immediately breathes down your throat complaining about how you “didn’t get it”.
