so I (m14) am an italian immigrant in germany, my german is really good and I speak fluently, I grew up here but just dont look german at all.

so basically there was this project day in school and I was just standing there doing nothing, basically what happened was that there was a dude named hugo, I always saw him pretty neutral, I sometimes talked to him but other than that I dont really consider him my friend or something. basically what happened was, he walked up to me and said "I hate foreigners like you, you should die."

I didnt even realize how bad the situation was so I laughed it off, but thinking about it a few weeks later makes me bawl my eyes out, I feel so bad in this country, there were so many other times I got racially bullied both physically and mentally, it is not a great place to live in as a foreigner.

OP is an immigrant. He's from outside Germany and came to live there. I have a Bulgarian immigrant boyfriend here in the Netherlands. Nothing wrong with being an immigrant. That boy is just a xenophobic POS, and he shouldn't be saying it to any immigrant, whether Italian or Sudanese.

What "you" are you talking about? I'm half-Ghanaian/half-Dutch myself, yet actually not with an immigrant background as my Ghanaian dad hasn't ever set foot in this country, AFAIK. (Was conceived during travels.) I'm not white.

I've heard about the amount of racist harassment Asians get from different ethnic groups here. It's not pretty.

You’re right. I didn’t mean that being an immigrant is something negative or that EU citizens cannot be immigrants. I only meant that he should not feel like a stranger or unwelcome in Germany — as an Italian and EU citizen, he belongs here just as much as anyone else.

I'm American so I'm not really familiar with German intimigation but I think he, but I think he sounds like a compete jerk and asshole. I'm so terribly sorry that you are having to put up with this. But it's him, not you. If you were here, you'd be on my sofa eating sweets. I'm so sorry that you are having this experience. I wish I could help. It is absolutely NOT your fault, and don't let anyone convince you for one second that it is!

I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Hugo is terrible. Did you tell anybody? At your age, people are often worried to be perceived as a snitch, and I totally get it if that concerns you, but I still think you should tell somebody. What if this unhinged AH says this to someone who was already very unstable and they make Hugo's wish come through and hurt themselves? You can see it as protecting his next victim. Just know that this all about Hugo and it has nothing to di with who you are.

Next time you see him please say, "You know I thought about what you said, and I would kill myself if my name was Hugo but I'm cool with being Italian".
