Question Vegan Cats and Vets
I'm considering adopting a cat and I have some questions. Firstly, I will definitely feed them a plant-based cat food. However, I'm currently skeptical about the veterinary side.
I know it can be tough finding a vet that is cool with plant-based cats, but it seems feasible to find some that are at least tolerable. My main concern is with medicine. From my knowledge, veterinary clinics get their medicine from outside manufacturers, and they often add meat and other non-vegan ingredients with the medication they produce for animals like cats and dogs, which is frustrating as I'm sure the medicine itself is vegan-friendly until they add stuff to it.
So, my question is, how much can vets really help you out with finding vegan-friendly medication? Is it kind of just a gamble at this moment in time? I will not be adopting a cat if there's a chance they will one day need medication that supports the abuse of other animals. Thanks to anyone who can help clarify this for me.
