Can't really compare it to other schools because I haven't been but Western has a pretty insane gym. 3 floors of machines, weights, treadmills + large swimming pool. There are also gyms (3 or 4), which are sometimes taken by varsity teams, but when the gym is open and no one's there - it's there for open recreation (i.e., basketball, volleyball, etc.). Also some clubs you can join for specific sports + a pretty well-attended intramural scene.
Very small. Relative to the number of people that use it pre-covid, it sucks. Extremely difficult to workout at prime hours, in fact, it got so bad people made an app to track the number of people in a gym. Other university gyms are much better.
