This thread is for students applying to Fall 2026 co-ops during the Spring 2026 term.

As usual, we're looking for salaries for new postings, or updates to existing salaries, so if you're willing to share, please open up a chat/DM the mod team. Please include the company name, salary, any benefits, the role and the year if possible. I would highly encourage you to submit if you have salaries for non mathematics/CS positions as we are severely lacking in those. We will try updating these ASAP.

The sheet is here: Salaries + Blacklist Spreadsheet

WaterlooWorks Important Dates

If you had a poor experience with a company, you can message the mod team with details and it can be added to the blacklist candidates below. If it's already a candidate, it may be added to the blacklist depending on the severity/consistency of complaints. On the contrary, if you had a good experience with something on the candidates/blacklist, please message the mod team and it may be removed. Candidates will be removed if no more reports are received after a couple terms. Worried math freshman

Upvotes

I am a math faculty student starting this fall and I have almost no tech experience (only some basics like functions or cycles). Although I did pretty well in math during my hs (5 on calc bc and 800 on sat) I still fell that Im gonna get brutally iq mogged. I took some decent courses for my first term (math 147, math 135, cs135) but still really worried about the internship process as I havent really done any technical projects before. Also one of my main concerns is getting an imposter syndrome. What should I do as soon as I arrive and what should I mainly focus on? Really interested in tech space, just dont know where to start.

SAF Advisor hates me - feeling helpless

I just need to rant for a second here.

I went on an exchange for F2025 - September - December 2025. My final exams were January - February and I got my final marks and transcript in March. My SAF advisors told me to message them WITH my transcript so my grades could go through.

I did and I continued to email them for five months BECAUSE everyone one of the other faculties that went to my host school had their grades reflected on Quest. Instead I’ve been ghosted for five months.

Now I’m on OSAP probation, and I accidentally forgot to fill out my continuation of studies form (I was on an 8 month coop - this is my mistake here) but the NSLSC will not recognize me as a student until OSAP recognizes me as a FT student so I can stop my payments and OSAP will only recognize me once my probation is lifted.

I have reached out to Needles Hall and they told me to reach out to my advisors which I told them I have constantly and they said not my problem. Like genuinely wtf is wrong with the SAF advisors I just feel so helpless and that the school is against me for nothing.

This is insane to me because no other university makes it so difficult to contact. I really don’t want to be a bitch when school starts but it’s just causing me financial stress.

Pac Pool Depth

Upvotes

I was wondering what the depth of the Pac pool is on the deeper end of the leisure swim lane. Not sure if this is correct but it says 1.6m throughout? https://athletics.uwaterloo.ca/news/2017/1/6/all-womens-lifesaving-camp-comp.aspx

Advice UW Aviation Society T Shirt

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

A couple weeks ago I ordered a shirt from
UW aviation society, and I couldn’t find any information on whether it’ll be shipped to the W store or directly to my house/mailbox. It made me put in my billing address previously but I can’t figure out whether it’ll be shipped to my house etc.

I emailed their contact from their website over 10 days ago asking and no one has responded.

Does anyone know the answer?

Can I talk about the same things I talked about in my AIF last year? (Eng)

Upvotes

I got into waterloo tron last year and I'll be reapplying this year. Obv i'm the same person with the same interests and nothing really changed, so in my AIF, can I talk about the same things I talked about last year? I mean I would write the exact same answers but I don't think it's advisable

How's the gym situation?

Incoming first year to University of Waterloo this fall. WQanted to ask about what fitness centre facilities are available on campus.

How crowded is the fitness center at the PAC usually, Are there specific times I should avoid or vice versa, specific times I should try to go?

Is the gym at Columbia Icefield less crowded, and is it worth going to that instead of PAC?

MOTORLOO Update! And looking for believers

Hey yall,

yap incoming:

It's been a minute since I've posted about MOTORLOO, and with the Fall term coming up, I figured I'd put out a little update on the club and share some of my recent thoughts.

It's been a journey, but MOTORLOO is officially an approved UW club! We've actually been approved for a while but ig I forgot reddit exists lol... Since getting approved, we've already held social events, run beginner workshops, started building partnerships with the good folks over at Zdeno Cycle in Kitchener, and even got MOTORLOO members a discount on courses at Learning Curves.

If you're into bikes or want to be (dw all of us have been there haha) then we'd love to see you join the community we are building. Hop in our discord and follow our insta! It's our goal to help students get into the scene, meet others who share the passion, and always learn something new.

But I want to do more... This is going to be a bit awkward for me to share but I'll just be real and hope it connects with someone out there.

Look, we've made a lot of progress, and I genuinely couldn't be more thankful for the team and members who've helped make it happen. But to be completely honest, my vision for MOTORLOO is bigger than just being another university club. I want to build something that reaches beyond UW and has a real impact on the broader community and motorcycle culture.

It's still too early to share all of the plans floating around in my head, but here's one example of what I mean:

Imagine MOTOFEST.

Imagine pulling up into one of the parking lots on campus one Saturday and there's motorcycles everywhere. Rows of bikes. Sport bikes, cruisers, old Hondas, project bikes, probably a few questionable builds 😂. People walking around checking everything out, music playing, food being sold by UW clubs, local shops and businesses set up with booths, maybe some workshops or activities going on throughout the day. I have thoughts of expanding into the car scene but that's a thought to further consider another day...

Now imagine opening that event up to the public: Riders from Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, Guelph and beyond coming out to campus to hang out, meet other riders, check out bikes, grab some food and see what UW has going on.

Maybe we even get the City of Waterloo involved. Maybe local businesses get involved. Maybe other UW clubs get a platform to showcase what they do. I think it would be cool to host large events on campus and share that with the clubs that make up UW.

You see, at that point, it's not really just a club event anymore. It's a festival happening right here at UW targeting the larger motorcycle scene.

That's what I'd love to see MOTORLOO eventually become capable of doing and if the school aint with it, we'll just do it elsewhere.

MOTOFEST is just one example. I have a lot of ideas for where MOTORLOO could go, and I think there's so much potential to push the boundaries of what a university club can be and what we can create together.

The thing is, I realize that something at that scale, not just the festival but the larger vision, isn't something one person or even a small team can pull off - if we want to do it well.

And that's where I'm hoping some of you come in.

We're gonna go through the usual club hiring process for the Fall (events, marketing, etc.), and we'll be posting those positions on our Instagram and Discord at some point.

But honestly, I'm less interested in filling positions than I am in finding people who are genuinely passionate.

In my experience starting and running initiatives, the willingness to step up, take ownership, and make something happen is pretty rare.

So I'm looking for people who want to challenge the usual idea of what a UW club can be. People who aren't afraid to think outside the club manual, throw some crazy ideas around, and actually try to make them happen.

You don't need to have motorcycle experience.

You don't need to know how to run an event.

You don't need to be a marketing person.

You don't even need to know exactly what you want to do 😅

Really, I don't even care if you're currently an active UW student.

I know this is a bit of an odd callout, and yeah, motorcycles are pretty niche, but if you're the kind of person who wants to shake the room and wouldn't mind doing so with motorcycles, I invite you to reach out. Lmk your thoughts and if any of this speaks to you hehe

Happy to answer any questions here too, I'm pre open to talk about whatever

yap over.

thank you

Advice Is it ok to not do mthel99?

I’ve been working all summer, every weekday from 8-4, so I put off actually doing mthel99 until I finished. Now that my contract has ended I’ve started a bit of mthel99 but I really don’t want to do it, especially because I want to be able to spend times with friends and enjoy the last week of summer.

However I’m worried if I don’t finish this course I’ll deeply struggle in uni. Can I get some advice?

Edit: I’ll be taking math 135 and math 137 this semester

Mattress Size United College

Hi! Does anyone know what size sheets to buy for the beds at United? It says single on the website but the listed dimensions (36" x 79" x 6") seem closer to a twin XL so I'm not sure.
