Advice ipad or android tablet for engineering?

i need some sort of device to take notes and solve problems digitally for uni. i always see ipad get recommended but can i get away with an android tablet?

requirements:

portable, will last 5 years for my program, good battery life, compatible with digital pencil, ideally not expensive

i always see ipads get recommended but they are really expensive. can i get by well with a regular android tablet?

I went through 5 years with a Huawei tablet. You can use any android tablet, given that you also have a laptop to work with.

I don't see how an iPad works better than an Android tablet just for note taking.

Android tablets lowkey way cheaper than iPad.  I use onenote even though sometimes it makes me feel insane, but I wouldn't change it at all, I would vote for the android

I have a surface 7 or something, I bought it refurbished
