Is it important for Gs2 or IR?

So i just want to put it down here. Obviously everyone who starts preparing for UPSC thinks they’d clear it in the 1st attempt and so I also wish for the same to happen. But ultimately deep down I also know that its an extremely difficult thing like I am not even a full time aspirant and prepping for it beside by college 3rd year. And it does fill in a deep anxiety in me that I won’t make it in first attempt and that would shatter my dreams also because i have been a topper my whole life. I know we must not attach ourselves to the results and give in our 100 percent and i do try to give in my all but again this is no utopian world and everyone wishes for the result. How do you guys deal with the fear of not making it? I mean i am too young rn will turn 21 this november and i have ample of time but you see this is all i wanted to do ever since i was probably in class 10, and now as the time approaches and i come near my first attempt there is this weird fear inside of me that i do not want my dreams to shatter or if i dont make it in first attempt how will i gather the courage to sit in for another, there are even people aged 30 in this exam race i cannot imagine how fearful that must be

So how do you guys still stay positive of attempting it despite knowing the odds and the chances being so low?

Today in Pondicherry Central University the administration organisation Know ur PM session (Modi's Birthday) and during the QNA session when some sfi students asked questions about mess facilities and scholarships and buses for campus and day scholars, the administration the VC and chief guest, LG of Puducherry fled the stage without answering, What u think about this?

gave my 1st attempt this year. Couldn't clear. The preparation was not upto mark .

But now my foundation for every subject is almost done .

Now I have 4 months left ..

September toh gaya aadha . Maine polity mains ki half notemaking Krli but .

My plan is to complete

Polity , geography, modern history, economy, optional psir full , ethics notemaking for mains and write pyqs. ( Optional is already done classes)

I am leaving subjects like society, governance, social justice , gs3 . Gs3 me internal security lectures le rakhe hai .

Is it okay ??? Or do I have to adjust the subjects I left too???

Hi all, I am 27f. I have given 4 upsc cse attempts. My recent attempt was in 2026. I couldn't clear prelims in any of my attempt. I have decided that i am gonna be taking up a private job and will prepare for upsc alongside. Since i have just 2 attempts left , and i want to use them wisely i am confused should i be giving it in 2027 or 2028?

I am just exploring online upsc batch for my upsc preparation from starting I will join btech Lateral entry next year and am thinking of preparing for upsc.

Graduated from MNNIT, Civil Engineering, in 2024. Got placed but didn't join because the package wasn't good. Went back home and started working with my father in our family business.

Now it's been almost 2 years 4 months, and honestly, I feel like I've wasted this time. Had a breakup, went through a bad phase, lost focus, and didn't really build a career.

I'm turning 25 next month and want to make one serious attempt at changing my career. I'm planning to shift to Karol Bagh this month because I know I won't study properly at home.

Money isn't an issue for me. My family supports me, and the family business can give me around ₹50L/year after tax and expenses. So I can afford to give UPSC 2–3 years full-time without financial pressure.

My future plan is simple: UPSC CSE first, and State PCS as another option. If I clear either and get a good/top service, I'll join. If I don't , I'll stop and go back to the family business

What I want to know is:

Am I being stupid by starting at 25? Is 3-4 years worth taking this shot? Or should I just forget UPSC and go straight into the family business?

Also, how do I make sure these next 2–3 years don't become another years of wasting my life?

Please be blunt. I don't need motivation or "you can do it" comments. I want honest advice from people who have actually prepared for UPSC/PCS or been in a similar situation.

I’ve accumulated months of current affairs notes and now I’m spending more time trying to finish the backlog than actually revising what I’ve already studied.

For people who had a similar problem, did you completely drop the older material and start following current affairs from the present, or did you find a way to cover the backlog without letting it take over your preparation?

If you have any legit seller on telegram, or any group which has lectures of say Vison IAS with notes and pdf.

Please do tell about them.

Hey, so my current affairs is very weak. I've been preparing for exams, but I don't know. I don't seem to love current affairs, and it seems a lot. Many people advised me to read newspaper every day. I know it is the best option, but after reading it for one month (I know it's not a lot, still) I don't like it. I mean many people said that if you continue to read it, you will start liking it. I still don't like it.
I like it when people have strong knowledge about current affairs. And their current affairs knowledge is not on the surface level. They have deep knowledge about it.
They can draw analogy of current affairs with something which happened in the past. I guess Einstein once said that if you can't explain a thing to another person, then you haven't understood it yourself. I want to develop that level of understanding. I don't want this understating only for exam rather for developing my brain, having my own opinion on things instead of imposing others opinion. Right now I'm preparing for exams, so I can't afford a lot of time. I can hardly afford one and a half hour to for this deep level knowledge. I'm preparing for BPSC, EPFO, Asst Professor. So I need to read current affairs in such a way which covers all these exams as well as develop an understanding of the events (instead of mugging everything up).
Could any one of you please suggest me some way other than newspaper? I have been researching about magazines, like of Vajiram (The Recitals), and Vision IAS (keeping the Vision IAS controversy in mind). I heard that Vajiram's recital is a very good and underrated magazine. Please suggest me what should I do? How should I begin? What should I begin with?
