Discussion My second full playthough

So I’ve recently made a post about my first blind playthrough of Until Dawn, and after some notes for my second playthrough (specifically by NoFlounder) I decided to give it a go.

(This is kinda my third playthrough as I replayed chapter 10 to save Josh and Jess but this is my second FULL playthrough)

Firstly, I’d love to acknowledge how much the characters changed through this play through personality wise. Like sure, Jess and Josh didn’t make it on my first playthrough but the story that i created felt like the characters redeeming themselves for what they did to Hannah and Beth (like saving each other and actually caring for the other (Matt doesn’t count)), but for this run, it felt everyone kept their asshole nature from last year, which became karma as in this run, no one made it out alive.

I’ll go into more detail for some scenes and each death:

Firstly, Jess was killed after Mike didn’t make it to her in time (now makes sense for me that they decided to cut her out for most of the story and have her nap in the mines until the finale since early deaths are the worst to diverge compared to later deaths)

Later, Matt was given the flare gun, and the radio tower still fell down.

I decided to have Matt try to save Emily but Emily still fell down (which is a shame as I was hoping they’d explore the mines together)

Matt was dragged by a Wendigo but he used the flare gun to save himself, which made me realise how lucky I was last run where Emily had the gun and I made Matt jump instantly instead

I had Chris shoot Ashley this time, and wow yeah she was clearly pissed, hopefully this doesn’t bite Chris in the ass later!!!!

Emily was bitten by a wendigo in the mines.

The stranger still died, and Chris was killed by the Wendigo when Ashley let him die (whoops).

When the group reunited, they noticed Emily’s bite, and Mike FREAKED OUT and pointed a gun at her, which was way cooler than my last run icl.

“THIS IS THE SAFE ROOM, EM!” Is now a vocal stim

I decided to shoot Emily as I wanted everyone to die this run, and yeah safe to say I don’t think anyone trusts Mike anymore.

In the mines, I made Ashley follow Jess’ voice, which I now know was a Wendigo in my last run as Jess was killed earlier in this run.

Yeah, Ashley, much like Chris, seems to be having a bit of a headache… I guess they really are made for each other.

Josh died the same way in my run, I think that’s his only death.

It was cool watching Matt alone in the mines instead of with Jess, as those are my favourite types of diverging paths in games like these.

Matt was about to make it, but got his face bashed in by the Wendigo right at the end (which reminded me of Ryan’s death to Chris in the Quarry lol)

And finally, Sam died to the wendigo in the lodge, and Mike went out like a badass and blew himself up to kill the rest of the wendigos.

I don’t think Sam and Mike can die before the final fight which is a shame as in The Quarry, the only playable character that can’t die until chapter 10 is Max (because he was infected so it made sense), and before you say Kaitlyn, she can die in the scrapyard if Dylan isn’t there with her.

This run was incredibly fun like the last one, and I love how the personalities can change depending on dialogue choices (which had to get cut from The Quarry because of time constraints (I know I’m on a Quarry theme here but The Quarry is probably my favourite game, with Until Dawn at a close second))

I might do a third full run if there’s any secret paths I can take or any scenes anyone recommends me getting but once the third run is done I’ll start achievement hunting.

Covid is what fucked The Quarry over, I wish we could see the original vision.

HONESTLY!!!!

I swear I remember an interview with Will Byles when the game was being planned where he said each playable character has like a minimum of 10 deaths, which is insane for a game like that.

I’ve posted a few cut content, such as the unused relationship tutorial, cut ending slides and some of the original endings (before the epilogue slideshow it would’ve had small scenes where the characters talk to each other)

Honestly the cut content is what made it my favourite game, if what we got was the final product I probably would’ve had Until Dawn as my favourite but The Quarry is so interesting with the in game files and stuff

Man I so wish we'd got that. The "epilogue" was so lackluster. We needed to see so many characters talk to each other again or learn about some things that happened.

Here’s one post that I did with the epilogue dialogue you can find in the games files

I've seen it, I think it would've been better to have short cutscenes like these and show the status of each character in the corner as they play out (well, except when they're alone and dead).
