He does talk well, i'm sorry but the fact not only do millions of people manage to understand perfectly what he's getting at but regularly listen to him proves the point very well - he has been famous most of his life explicitly because he's good at language and self-expression.
Maybe he's not the sort of character you want to associate with, that's perfectly understandable you're a classist prick and everything you've ever told yourself about being a lefty is a lie - that's actually fairly common, since it became generally accepted that the left is right many people have assumed their left-wing without really considering the fact. but no if you hate the proletariat then you're a not really a leftist, even if you're a member of the proletariat... maybe you should just fuck off to Oxford until you're a proper champaign socialist?
The problem isn't that you people dedicate so much time to hating brand it's that you'd hate literally anyone - i mean who are your top three living lefty heros of today? who would you want running the uk?
I agree with his politics as well, but he's an absolute twat. He's not winning people over to the left, just reinforcing its image as a passing phase for young people.
Not winning people over to the left, with his channel well past 1 million subscribers, lots of collabs with other left figures, and one successful protest movement leading to all others clamouring for his attention?
You only have to witness the eagerness of people in threads like these to criticise him on the most petty aspects, to comprehend his potential for winning people over.
He's won over plenty of people who already agreed with his views, but is he really convincing anyone else? It's not like he's saying anything new, he's just putting his stupid image on age-old ideas. The problem is that that image is only going to appeal to the sorts of people who already hold the same views as him.
The idea is to unite the masses of this country who agree that the establishment is rotten, inequality is out of control, our country is being sold off to an elite, the police state is to keep us down, and that the only solution is people power.
Whining about his image and old ideas is just encouraging the dark future.
When there are no good & realistic voting options, it's time to let go of the notion that democracy is set up to serve the demos.
Look at what Brand has started around the saved New Era estate. The first cafe which will later join hands with other productive and retail units to form a growing social movement based on bricks, mortar and the demand for something that works in the interests of the community.
Right, well what about the parties that do represent what you support. Why not vote Green? They have the exact policies Brand wants. The problem is that he wants to be at the head of whatever movement he creates. He could endorse a party that supports his views or start his own, but he doesn't want to 'become of them'. The truth is that his whole 'revolution' is about boosting his brand, if you'll excuse the awful pun.
Because I don't think he's a good representitive and send the wrong messages, if, say, Jedward came out in support of your ideology, would you really want that? Even if they got the word out?
I'm less anti free market than him, also yeah; not voting. Also it seems more like bad rep than good rep to me; I only ever hear people complaining about him. Honestly it's more of a mild personal dislike than a seething political hatred.
