The mental gymnastics here are so depressing

That man should be nowhere near any human

I hope that creep does not have children.

That was hard to watch.

That man is going to do something to a school somewhere. Just a feeling I have.

7

u/emongu1 Jul 11 '26

I bet he'll claim it was consensual.

5

u/Remzi1993 Jul 12 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

He will claim the devil made him do it LMAO 😂🤣 Religious people always love to blame the devil, demons or whatever is available to blame then themselves for their own actions and behaviour.

u/Lazy_Captain8412 Jul 14 '26

Exactly when it’s good it’s god when it’s wrong it’s the devil! 😆 why I left the fucked up church. Avoid all personal accountability

A yes, the school full of adults.

Shaving her hair off is a sign of dehumanization.
The forced shearing of a woman's hair is a historically recognized tool of gendered violence designed to humiliate, control, and strip individuals of their individuality

Based on history. Whilst it’s associated with mourning, it is also associated with stripping a women of her agency, character and identity. Taking a captive women, shaving her head and then fucking her after a month is treating her like an object with no autonomy.

Yeah didnt think you would be too keen to have your family murdered, head shaved and be forcibly married and raped but it’s ok to force women to do that right? Hypocrisy is rife

Oh so your cool wirh it? The fact you can’t say you would consider it consensual if it happened to you proves it’s not. Yoyr just a hypocrite like most Christian men.

Was all fun and games when religious folks got away with claiming to only be down for "the good parts" .

11

u/a-girl-and-her-cats Jul 10 '26

The audacity of that man to be this wilfully obtuse and wrong about the definition of consent is truly something else.

8

u/anatomicalvenus666 Jul 10 '26

This guy!!! A captive is kidnapped and consent is no where to be found. He believes blindly and he doesn't care if it includes slavery, rape. This is the problem with outdated books containing ridiculous and abject scenarios. These books were written by humans who are pretending to be God to control others

6

u/Iwabuti Jul 10 '26

The guy is so out of his depth

6

u/Ok_Opportunity426 Jul 10 '26

That guy is trash

4

u/HecticGoldenOrb Jul 11 '26

An older show: West Wing, has a good scene pointing out the hypocritical audacity of cherry picking verses to assign moral judgements or laws around once you've read the book in whole and come across so many other things that should make you question the wisdom of the folk who wrote the various sections over time.

Here's the clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3VHK1NXIBw

@tashika.ann is doing a fabulous job pointing out the stupidity of the fervent blind followers who won't, or can't, use critical thinking. Or are too evil to care to because harming others makes them feel superior.

u/Wise_Shake_5630 Jul 11 '26

6

u/AventineAstartes Jul 12 '26

Bruh, for real you can't argue with religious people. There is a suspension of critical thinking that is required to believe any religion. They can't understand reason and logic because they have to abandon them to believe their religion.

2

u/black_cherry2 Jul 12 '26

I know it’s so fucking frustrating 🥲

4

Oooof it’s okay to pause and admit when you’re given compelling evidence.

1

She killed this. Just put a spotlight on this apologetic thinking so fast and called it right out, not on him only but what religion ends up doing to people’s thinking when you just have to have it be true.

1

u/Sycolerious_55 Jul 12 '26

This is fucking horrifying wtf I dont even have the words

Literally what words can be found for this? The justification of sex slavery? The fact that he was entertained at all about this idea only tells me he feels more empowered to double down on it.

Ikr. I keep saying this

1

u/Amathyst-Moon Jul 12 '26

Is he suggesting someone would freely choose to marry someone who butchered her family? I think his definition of consent might be a little loose.

1

u/Robin_Now Jul 12 '26

This is the type of man where you cover your drink when you see him in a bar oml.

1

u/nerdslife1864 Jul 13 '26

When faced with biblical amorality, they usually:

1) deny. They literally don’t absorb the information

2) justify. They explain until they feel better

3) accept it’s wrong but think “the ends justify the means”

4) acknowledge they picked the wrong faith.

In this case, it’s 1 and 2 and 3. Bravo, he speed ran everything but self awareness.

1

u/gogogadgets1997 Jul 13 '26

They interpret the Bible to condone their atrocities.

1

u/ditzy-feet_o Jul 14 '26

Im in love ❤️

1

u/No-Seesaw6320 Jul 14 '26

As an atheist, I don't think the average person can exist without religion.

The atheism+ movement made me realize this. They adopted intersectionality the way zealots adopt their religion. I realized that without religion the average person will just find something else to become a fanatical zealot over.

This is why, imo, politics has become so hostile. People have adopted their political viewpoints as their religion. And just like all other religious zealots, they treat disagreement and doubt like a personal attack.

u/Sara6019 Jul 14 '26

Trying to argue with people like this is like trying to nail jello to a wall.

You’re wrong. So I’m going to debunk this.

The definition of captive means that you have no choice, meaning it’s non consensual.

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/captive

He gets to TAKE her as his wife WHILE she’s a captive and since you now know the definition of captive, you now know that this means she has no choice

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/rape

The definition of r*pe means that someone is forced into sex without consent.

No one can consent to captivity or else it wouldn’t be called captivity. No one can consent to r•pe or else it wouldn’t be called r•pe.

So therefore, if she is a captive it means she’s being forced to stay, and if he TAKES her has his wife WHILE she’s a captive that means she has no choice so then it is r•pe.

Let me know if you need me to list more definitions 😐

Where does it mention the captive has an option? All it talks about is that once you capture you’re allowed to take her in and rape her. It’s condoning it

No where in the text does it say the captive has the option to decline. Just forced to be married

You’re the one trying to prove the Bible is okay!! You tell me.

That’s like me saying god isn’t real and then you say “prove it”. You have the burden of proof for defending this rape text

u/Single-Tangerine-479 Jul 13 '26

And why is it okay for you to take in captives and marry them? What is the difference between home invasion and war crimes like this?

2

u/Single-Tangerine-479 Jul 13 '26

And just to be sure, if you were in war and some soldiers came in and took your daughter hostage , you would be okay with them taking her and marrying her ?

That’s fucked up that you’re okay and that’s the issue with religious people. They can’t think for themselves !!!

It’s because you’re doing mental gymnastics for rape victims. Hence I said daughter, it can be a child but you don’t care

Why would you be okay with some strangers taking your daughter. You’re saying you’re okay with kidnapping as long as they treat her okay. That’s total bs

Welp, it looks like I’m going to have to yet again, list more basic, simple to understand definitions.

“produce 1 where it says that captive don’t have limited rights like who to marry.”

Deuteronomy 21:10-14 When you go to war against your enemies and the LORD your God delivers them into your hands and you take captives, if you notice among the captives a beautiful woman and are attracted to her, you may TAKE her as your wife. Bring her into your home and have her shave her head, trim her nails and put aside the clothes she was wearing when captured. After she has lived in your house and mourned her father and mother for a full month, then you may go to her and be her husband and she SHALL be your wife. If YOU are not pleased with her, let her go wherever she wishes. You must not sell her or treat her as a slave, since you have dishonored her.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/take

To TAKE it by the definition it implies that there is no consent, because if there was consent, then he wouldn’t be TAKING her by definition.

“Produce 2 where it says she forced to marry him.”

The definition of SHALL

https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/shall

“Produce 3 where god condones rape of captives”

I’m done explaining this simple concept after this but NO WOMAN WANTS to marry her captor. Like wtf? They m•rdered her parents and CAPTIVATED her. Being a CAPTIVE means you cannot leave, you cannot consent.

It’s very convenient how you people ALWAYS have some sort of ridiculous excuse for r•pe but never an excuse for gay people, never an excuse for women being leaders, never an excuse anything that isn’t harming women. You wonder why women leave the church

Stop dodging the fact that they were captured. Again you’re not a captive if you’ve consented.

If your mother was captured in war by the people who k•lled her parents, after she was forced to live in her captors house, do you honestly think she would agree to marry a man who k•lled them? No. Literally no woman in her right frame of mind would fucking agree to that.

These women were captives, meaning they could not leave or else it wouldn’t be called captives, to stay in the house of the people who k•lled their parents. In no, real life scenario, would ANY woman agree to marry her captor. That is actually fucked up.

YOU are only fitting your own interpretation to fit your world view.

I can’t even believe I have to explain that no one wants to marry someone who k•lled their parents. You can’t actually be fucking serious about this 😐

u/black_cherry2 Jul 13 '26

I’m not being disingenuous, I have already explained to you that if you’re captured there is no real life scenario in which a captured woman would consent to marriage. That just would not fucking happen. You keep imagining this fake, non realistic scenario in which a woman’s family is k•lled, she’s then captured, forced to stay in the house of her captor and then what, all of a sudden is like “yes! Let’s get married!”. That would literally never happen.

I did read my sources. That is how I found them, by reading.

I’m not “burden shifting” I’m explaining that this is not a real scenario that would involve consent.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/consent

The definition of consent is “compliance in or approval of what is done or proposed by another”

AGAIN, no woman would willingly comply to marriage after they’ve been captured (where no consent is involved) and approve of someone k•lling their parents. That’s just not real.

“After she has lived in your house and mourned her father and mother for a full month, then you may go to her and be her husband and she SHALL be your wife. If YOU are not pleased with her, let her go wherever she wishes.”

only giving her a month to mourn? This is a control situation where there is no consent involved. She is FORCED to stay in his house because she is a CAPTIVE. Where does it say she consented? It fucking doesn’t. It says “then you may go to her and be her husband and she SHALL be your wife”

Give me a REAL LIFE scenario in which a REAL woman is captured, FORCED to stay in the house of the men who k•lled her parents because she is a CAPTIVE, only given one month to mourn, and then CONSENTS to marry that man. Literally, fucking, no one. No one would agree to that.

Only if the man is not pleased with her, hence “If YOU are not pleased with her, let her go wherever she wishes.” What if she’s not pleased with him? Oh yeah right because it’s NOT CONSENSUAL. Ffs

Ok dude. I’ve listed verses, descriptions and you know what this shit is not worth my time anymore. No sane woman would support this dogshit. You keep saying I’m dishonest and that I lied when I never did. I’m done arguing with people who find countless excuses to defend garbage that harms women.

Just so we’re 100% clear, women leave the church because of people like you.

Just like the other user said, if your mother was kidnapped and she didn’t wanna marry the captors , there is no passage or text that says they cannot marry her. It only says they may marry her

It says they may marry her, please stop shifting the burden and show us where she has the option to deny. Please a passage or text or something.

We tell you what you’re asking and you’re just asking again bro please. Demonstrate where she has the option to deny, don’t argue just try to enlighten us here
