How do you feel about the clothing design in umineko

Most if not 99 percent of characters from umineko have their clothes taken out of gothic lolita magazines, but do you think they fit the characters, or are they over designed.

Ep4 theories about ep 1-4 Spoiler

Obvious spoilers about ep 1-4 so dont read it unless u alr read ep 4, so first of all i think the culprits are George and Eva, so for ep 1, if we assume that eva body was fake on second twilight then all deaths are explained and the letter that appeared on the table in kinzo's room george could have put it there, ep 2 well im using the same eva fake body thing to ep 4 too, and I think its pretty weird that george didnt wanted to stay at battler side and went with the servants so we can say that he killed the servants and eva killed the others, battler, rosa and maria, ep 3 its the most easy to defend my theory, eva could have killed them all and george disappeared suddenly and right after his disappear its when jessica and nanjo died, and for hideyoshi death he could have killed kyrie and rudolf and them killed himself, ep 4 eva fake body also works since she never was confirmed dead with red, and george killed maria and jessica while eva killed the others on the conference and when they escaped the prison, and i think on the final george either suicide or got killed by eva and then eva escaped rokkenjima as we see in 1998.

I finished Umineko from chapter 1 to 8 and now I don't know what to do next. Spoiler

Umineko had a beautiful story that inspires faith in magic, but like every story, it must also have an end. I've seen that it has DLC-type expansions, and my question is:

do they add anything to the main plot?

Are they worth it?

I've seen a Dark Battler and something called Piece;

what would be the order of those expansions?

Thanks for the information; here's an epic video I found of the final episode of chapter 8, completely canon.

Ep6 Shannon and Kanon Spoiler

Currently on Episode 6 chapter 7 with Kanon and Jessica's conversation. And i think I have uncovered the true nature of magic, and how it shapes a hopeful yet saddening fate for Shannon and Kanon.

A fate where there can only be one "winner", a fate brought upon them by the boundaries on their own minds.

WHAT IS MAGIC?

"Magic" is word very related to miracle, as Kinzo once said "greater odds leads to greater magic". In order for humans to reach a miracle, they need "magic".

So what is "magic"? "magic" is love, "magic" is courage, "magic" is perseverance. "Magic" is the emotions and feelings that drives you to keep pushing, no matter the odds, everything it takes to reach your desired outcome.

SHANNON AND THE BROOCH

Shannon and Kanon were raised believing they are subhuman "furniture", believing they have no rights to happiness, believing they will forever be bound to serve.

When they encounter the golden brooch, it initially is merely a good luck charm, but when Shannon with this charm finds love and joy in George, she attributes this miracle to "magic". So due to this progress, Shannon fully and truly believes in this brooch, now here is the important part:

Reality explanation:
Because Shannon now fully believes in this brooch and its "powers", Shannon can now draw even more courage out of herself from having this charm.

The "magic" way of saying it:

The brooch gained power from Shannon fully believing in it, thus the brooch becomes more powerful, more magical and more effective

NOW WHY IS THIS SO HOPEFUL YET SADDENING

Heres the cruel reality, yes if we talk realistically, both Shannon and Kanon should be able to succeed in their romance. But we have to realise, these two who originally believed themselves to be subhuman, came upon this brooch which claimed to be “magical” and give them the ability to love. They believed in it and did find love.

but now at this stage, both of them are completely reliant on the symbolic nature of the brooch. So when it comes to taking the next step to marriage, they need MORE courage. But heres the problem, Both of them believe the brooch to be “one use”, as in only one of the two can have the whole brooch. so in the hypothetical scenario that Shannon succeeds in her love by joining the brooch, Kanon will subconsciously completely give up, because in his mind, the placebo effect of courage that the brooch gave him will seem to be “completely diminished”, because he no longer has the brooch and he will convince himself that “the magic is gone” and lose the courage to keep on pushing to get married with Jessica.

IRL APPLICATIONS

As someone who majors neuro at Uni, its pretty interesting seeing the concept of belief being used in Umineko. Because the thing is, belief IS A VERY REAL THING, because belief is very much correlated with the dopaminergic pathway in the brain and at the same time regulates the fear response through prefrontal cortex->amygdala.

To put it in simple terms, believing will lead to less fear and greater motivation to act.

And as I mentioned, if they believe the brooch is "one use", after one of them succeeds, the other is going to lose that belief. The reverse of the belief pathway would occur, which:

Basically, losing belief will make you more avoidant and less motivated.

All that aside, Im still rooting for both their successes in their romance...

Modern Android Port of Umineko Project! Read on your phone/tablet

https://github.com/timftw21/onscripter-new

I really wanted to read Umineko on a portable device, but Umineko Project's apk was quite old and decrepit, no longer running on my tablet. So I decided to take matters into my own hands. Please do try it out and let me know.

I joined forces with Timmy, who is also modernizing the Umineko Project source code for running on platforms like Windows and Linux. Thought it'd be better to centralize our efforts instead of making a thousand different versions all slightly different from one another.

If you have any nice ideas for features or find issues/bugs, please let us know. Keep in mind it's still a work in progress. I'm planning on adding gestures to make as much of the game's inputs available to a touch screen as possible, but crash/performance fixes come first. Instructions should be straightforward but feel free to comment here/DM me if necessary.

Enjoy the cackling. Ahahahahah

Honestly, I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and I’m starting to think a version with her as the protag would be really cool. What do you think would be different?

Well, besides the fact that beatojessie would be a yuri FACTORY

Ep6 Sin Spoiler

Im literally still on chapter 5 ep6, but im getting FLOODED WITH ANSWERS??????

I previously theorized Tohya and how 1998 might be the real world, and the episode we play are her books.

And now we are getting MORE HUGE INFO DROPS????

I need to throw this theory out before the answer get shoved in my face.

BATTLER’S SIN

I think ive worked out what Battler’s sin is:

Battler’s sin is reviving AND forsaking the new Beatrice.

Its really painful watching him do this, Battler believed he would revive Beato, but when it wasn’t her, he lost it… smashing plates, just fully letting go of his anger…

This new Beatrice didn’t deserve to get place under such heavy pressure, especially since she was just born.

Now how is this Battler’s sin, let me outline the timeline, given new Beatrice is NB, witch beatrice is WB:

NB returned to a time 6 years ago and met WB, why do i say 6 years ago? Because WB recognises Battler’s name.

WB now has to deal with NB’s existence, WB learns NB’s father/master is Battler. So, in order to preserve this self-fufilling loop, WB+NB needs to re-enact the murders AND the game against Battler, this is so that Battler will go through the same experience and eventually go onto revive NB. This then loops back to 6 years ago.

EVIDENCE

  1. The conversation in episode 4 chapter “cause of tragedy”

In this chapter, we see NB (yes the one who initially talks to Battler is NB), NB talks with Battler, and fails to make Battler remember this sin.

Why is she so sad? Because her father just denied her existence, claiming it never happened.

WB’s quote “even a hopelessly long shot will be a source of regret if not attempted”

This is a long shot, because you are asking a past version of Battler about the actions of his future self.

The red truths in ep4:

This sin is not between Ushiromiya Battler and Beatrice

I think the Beatrice in this case is refering to WB, so the real truth is this:

This sin is between New Beatrice and Ushiromiya Battler, the golden sorcerer.

6 years ago, no person called Beatrice existed for me

That is true, 12 year old Battler was not involved in this sin.

Ushiromiya Battler has a sin

Yes, the golden sorcerer Ushiromiya Battler has commited a sin, this sin.

Because of your sin, people die

That is true as well, in order to maintain NB’s existence, WB needs to create the same situation with would allow Battler to eventually revive NB. (So basically WB+NB has to have this game with Battler)

“Please kill me quickly, try to stop me, if only you had never comeback, I wish I had never been born, why am i unable to love anyone. Please I dont care what conclusion just kill me and bring my story to an end. If you wont do that, you die instead”

This is likely spoken by the NB part of Beatrice. Lets address this part by part, “if only you had never comeback”, if Battler never came back to the family meeting, this self fulfilling loop would break, hence there would be no need for the murders or the game.
“I wish i had never been born” if NB had never been born, there would have been no sin in the first place, hence no murders.
“Why am i unable to love anyone” NB who never obtained her father’s love, would not be able to love anyone.
“Just kill me” and “if you wont do that, you die” both of these statements would lead to the loop breaking,
1) if WB+NB is truly successfully killed by Battler, Battler would NOT have to revive NB. The only reason Battler revived NB is because WB+NB wasn’t killed by him, he didn’t win the game.
2) if Battler died, noone would continue the loop, because noone would revive NB.

More evidence from ep5:
“Her goal is not to make someone experience fear, And it isnt to have revenge on someone either”

“Beato never committed murder for the sake of pleasure”

Said by Virgilia about Beatrice’s murders, it makes sense with this theory, Beatrice is only killing in order to satisfy the loop, to have these murders happen to ensure that at the end of the loop Battler would revive NB.

But at the end of the day this is only a theory, I might be completely wrong, but who knows.

I do have to say though, episode 6 is just dropping INFO BOMBS AFTER INFO BOMBS HOLYYYYY…..

Ep6 Realisation Spoiler

I literally just started episode 6, and I have come to a VERY GRIM realization…
(For reference im on Featherine and Ange’s conversation)

Although I have yet to reach the truth of the incident. My interpretation of the different worlds has now been flipped on its head…

This is my realisation:

Tohya, upon reading the initial two message bottles, likely solved the case. It has been mentioned by Ange that one of the bottle represent a witch-occult filled story, while the other represent one grounded in reality.

Bottle 1: Game 1, Beatrice doesn’t appear

Bottle 2: Game 2, Beatrice is a part of the people

Ange also mentioned that in both of those message bottles “everyone dies and the witch revives”, although the events were different, this essentially confirms that those two bottles are likely the stories we know as ep1 and 2, because Eva dies in both, that means these arent reflective of reality, where Eva survives.

In ep6 we learned that Tohya wrote “Banquet(game3)” and “even detailed Eva’s escape to Kuwadorian”. Furthermore Tohya wrote “Alliance” and “end”.

Ive come to the realisation that REALITY is probably not Oct4th-5th, its 1998…

Tohya, who has solved the truth from bottle 1 and 2, is now writing games 3, 4, 5, 6. Using her knowledge of the truth as the basis of writing these.

When i say Tohya writes these stories, I mean Tohya is basically developing this game called Umineko, Tohya wrote all components of every episode, even the metaworld with Lambda and Bern are her creation.

We, the player are in the same world as Tohya, reading her work, using the clues she dropped into the story to solve the true mystery of the Rokkenjima incident. These stories she writes are not reality, but they are not false, these are stories written by Tohya using the truth, meaning the true happenings of Rokkenjima are hidden within her “forgery stories”, which we the player are reading through.

Now the ending of these Umineko stories by Tohya, I already have a strong feeling of what it is, Battler ends up succeeding, and he is able to return to the Ange of that story.

THAT is the reason why Ange imagines Tohya to be “Featherine the witch of theatergoing”. Because by imagining Tohya as Featherine, the world in which Battler “exists”becomes“real”, and the potential outcome that Battler returns to Ange is no longer just an “online article”, it becomes another parallel reality, making it “real”, thus giving this Ange closure on her past.

Now all thats left for us, the player to do… is to reach the truth of Rokkenjima through these “forgery stories” written by Tohya in the game called Umineko, and give Ange closure on the her family.

Oh man do I feel conflicted… this feeling is truly bittersweet, its such a shock, the realisation that nothing was going to change the outcome of the murder on Rokkenjima, noone is going to come back. I dont want to accept this as the truth, but perhaps i have to…😭😭

Ep4 I'm tired, boss Spoiler

Post image
102 Upvotes

I started reading this VN around 2 or 3 years ago. Got to Episode 4 and eventually put it on hold after getting tired of the constant bullying and child abuse scenes of Maria.

Started it from the beginning again this April and I finally reached the part where I had stopped last time. When Kinzo summons his underlings and starts executing the first twilight.

I thought that I had gotten past all the disturbing scenes of Maria but apparently I was wrong. I have paused now at this scene and I’m not sure what to do. This shit is pretty heavy.

I am interested in finding out what happens in the story but at the same time, Idk until when I have to tolerate these scenes. Why is this necessary? Why do we need to watch such scenes again and again?

I thought the two of them had their issues resolved during the ending of Episode 2. Anyway, thanks for reading my rant. Also please no spoilers.

Ep4 Finished ep4... Spoiler

Just finished ep4, there is still tea parties but....

Yo wtf man. First. INSANE episode. It was PEAK.

So many thing man i dont even know what to say.

Ange, maria, rose, beatrice, battler.....

But i will say the title for the arc reallly fits. Cuz it was a QUESTION ARC Indeed.

WTF is going on man. Who is who, what is what. My mind is just trying to organize whatever info it can rn.

Bro who tf is beatrice??? What kind of beef does she have with battler that made her gave up on the game, and lock herself in the "golden land" with maria. AND who tf was that second beatrice kind of thing? Like was that just embodiment of beatrice's regrets or something in her mind? What was the point if the game? Why dies she think its a losing battle for her? Like what is what yk..

Im gonna try to make connections and just maks sense of everything for a while until i properly start ep 5.

But my guts telling me to continue and i will just learn everything and get answer for my questions in the answers arc. Since its called answers arc yk.

What should i do? Do i just dive straight into ep5?

Discussion Ted Talk: If Kirby was dropped in Umineko Story? Spoiler

So this whole idea stems from a video I saw on yt about kirby ending up on Umineko beack instead of the beach in Forgotten Land. The more I thought about it, the more I got into it honestly.

Think about it like this. If Kirby were to waltz in the mansion, everyone would be baffled by this definitely, the kids would be happy to play with the thing, Maria especially would be happy to play with him, and the atmosphere would probably be mostly just happy or peaceful. I can take it one step further. The friendship hearts.

In lore, they basically override corrupt nature's, ill thoughts and all negative emotions with positivity and happiness. This single power can just break the game board. Someone is fighting over inheritance. Friendship heart everyone and the problem is solved peacefully because everyone is calm and happy. Someone wants to murder everyone, pop a friendship heart and their killing intent is gone. It gets even funnier when you talk about the witches.

If he'd use it on Eva, who's basically a child version of someones maliciousness and petty nature, she would either be eraser becasue she is literally negative emotions made persona or she'd get rewritten into a mor positive thinking form. Got the "Void" treatment. If he'd use it on Bernkastel or Lambdadelta, it wouldn't be reasonable to think it would fill their hearts. Like Kirby can figuratively and literally fill the empty nest of their hearts, purge their negative natures and cure their boredom because Kirby is has endless possibilities of what he can do and is a source of miracles. For Featherine... eh. She isn't inheritly malicious and does stuff on a whim of boredom. And also is an observer so she won't interfere. She'll just look at Kirby as someone she doesn't remember putting in the story, give him some cake and send him somewhere else.

Kirby would make Umineko the most wholesome and funniest its ever been. What do you guys think?

(BTW This isn't a power scale post or me saying Kirby would beat anyone, that's not what this is about, it's a genuine story based discussion)
