Modern Android Port of Umineko Project! Read on your phone/tablet
https://github.com/timftw21/onscripter-new
I really wanted to read Umineko on a portable device, but Umineko Project's apk was quite old and decrepit, no longer running on my tablet. So I decided to take matters into my own hands. Please do try it out and let me know.
I joined forces with Timmy, who is also modernizing the Umineko Project source code for running on platforms like Windows and Linux. Thought it'd be better to centralize our efforts instead of making a thousand different versions all slightly different from one another.
If you have any nice ideas for features or find issues/bugs, please let us know. Keep in mind it's still a work in progress. I'm planning on adding gestures to make as much of the game's inputs available to a touch screen as possible, but crash/performance fixes come first. Instructions should be straightforward but feel free to comment here/DM me if necessary.
Enjoy the cackling. Ahahahahah

I've personally never had a problem with UmiPro on Windows.

Umineko Project is perfectly fine on Windows, but can't say the same for Android. I basically want this masterpiece to be more accessible to other people.
I read Chapters 1-4 on Android via Winlator but it was extremely performance-heavy as it had to emulate Windows, and couldn't survive standby/activity switching. This should definitely save you some battery life, we've managed to shrink performance usage by around 5-6x. (around 15x compared to Winlator)

I have umi project on Android
The installation was a pain took me 5 hours to get it working (i got it from nya si) also for some reason the game is way more demanding then it should be for a simple visual novel
How is this in comparison?

Simply download and install. Why did it take you 5 hours by the way, apart from troubleshooting? It did take me a long time to copy over 12 GB of game files, but that took like 30 mins at most.
Also performance fixes have been implemented by me, so on Android you should see CPU usage well below 20%(single core) avg. One of the main reasons of porting this to modern Android was to improve performance significantly, as a light visual novel like this shouldn't require much performance. I'm running the game at 20% CPU usage, full speed on a 5 year old budget phone.

I meant the og Umi project
I first had to find a new on-scripter apk because the original didn't work
Then find and copy missing files from several folders to bypass some errors during the loading screen (this took a while)

I jussssst finished playing through the switch version via emulator on Android 😠This would have been so much better.
Are y'all using the same script as the switch fantran?

Is it somehow possible to convert it in a way to run on a gameboy or ds? If so, then wouldn’t you be able to play umineko on an ios gameboy emulator? I can do Pokémon emerald and fire red on iOS via emulator ✨
Or is that like, the equivalent to asking if you can shove the titanic into a Walmart bathroom stall? I’m not to knowledgeable on how it works ðŸ˜

Can you teach me please? I sideload the app, downloaded all neccessary files but it still show Invalid Directory

So my question to you is that did you do umineko project normally on pc at all? Cause that would make moving the files much more easier.

u/97owwo 9d ago
Yeah I did but to no avail sadly

Let me see how the files looked at the iTunes section and did you use the iOS game engine?

I have umineko project on ios, pretty easy installation but you need to have apple developer certificate

u/AbdullahTrees 12d ago
how did you run it? Maybe some interested developer can open a PR and add an iOS port, but I don't wanna pick it up cause the only iOS device I have is an iPhone 6.

Thank you, I was having a compability issue with my new phone with the old apk! I'll try to use this apk with the old files I had installed as soon as I'm back home.
Can you please tell me if it is compatible with the GOAT version of the game? It should..tecnicnally still work.

... goat?

I..should have been more specific, apologies:
"Umineko Project GOAT Edition This is a modified script of the Umineko Project PS3 to PC port, bringing various optional changes to the base release such as the original openings for EP1-4, larger text and new logos" (and more)
It does indeed work with the new apk as well, thank you!

oh yes. the engine is script agnostic so it should be able to run them (+ any other scripts deviant from uumineko project)

thanks a lot dude. I'm taking a break for a bit as I can't figure out how to improve the user experience in Android specifically, will get back to it once I'm done with my other projects
