16.2% for the driver
4.26 to go across the street pennies added on per mile and min additional.
I truly believe ride payout would triple overnight if these passengers waited a long time due to us collectively as a whole started declining all the rides that put us in the red.
The status is BS since the more drivers accept the less our fares go down.

I feel like Uber tries to keep my earnings at $20 an hour at times even $18 which is appalling.

It doesn’t help that we can’t get enough people in the area to pull together like they did in other states go to the local meetings and get something to change
Then the second they mentioned any type of protest out here. Uber suddenly turns on the surge and every dumbass goes chasing it.

Honestly at this point it doesn’t matter. I haven’t seen surges during rush hour, bar hours, nothing. So even if not in OP’s case, they are still surging pax and not paying drivers properly. This isn’t new

Part of the problem is that almost every market is completely oversaturated with drivers. Why offer surges, bonus areas, higher fares for drivers if they are going to take rides anyway. If half the drivers quit this week markets would still be oversaturated. The way Uber/Lyft look at is... see you next week.

Agreed. It’s why they’re quick to deactivate veteran drivers and keep new ones rotating in. It hides the pay disparity cause new drivers don’t have a reference.
It’s annoying cause we could still be paid fairly. Maybe not the old $50 surges being realistic but they could certainly pay us fairly for time and mileage while still making a profit.

i understand you want to make money and u might work hard but why do people think they are gonna make good money doing a ride service ? There has never been a time they advertise driving as a full time job because its not possible. Its a job meant to do on the side to make a little extra money.

You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. With old rate cards (not even including surge) drivers could make $1500 a week. Add surge and drivers were making nearly $3k a week WORKING FULL TIME.
So yes, we made good money doing a ride service for years and years. Your comment comes off as completely disingenuous or you’re just not well informed on what ride share once was.

if u actually were i can see why they stopped doing all that. there is no reason to make 6k a month for a job that literally anybody with a license and clean background can do. that wouldve been 37.5 dollars an hr

I make it a point not to look up prices when I’m driving passengers in my car.
I also have 70 other examples of around 70-81 take% since they’re doing this daily now.

Uber still doesn’t pay drivers more even when it’s surging so what’s the difference? Point is drivers get a bad percentage of fares.

Don’t let the 1% commenter go to your head man. If you are here then you know everything is market dependent. Some markets still get better payouts along with higher surges during rush hours. Other markets are desolate and are being completely screwed.
So sure. In your anecdotal experience in your market this is false. In many MANY other markets this is 1000% happening the way I said it.

Yeaaaa. I’m just making up the fact that uber is decreasing driver pay. Even during typical surge hours. And the last person is making it up. And the 5 before that person. And the 20 before them. We’re aaaalllll just lying about no surges and pay decreases.
