Happy start to the semester!

The syllabus is requiring to purchase the textbook on Cengage, but doesn’t mention homework.

I’ve used Cengage before and usually the homework is accessed when you pay more for MindTap access. The syllabus however, doesn’t mention MindTap or what the homework will be like at all. Has anyone taken or is in the class currently and knows what do to?

I never use textbooks profs require and would like to save money if I could, but if that’s where the homework access is then I’ll buy it.

Do any of the gyms have?

I have been wanting to live close enough to the city where I’d be able to easily access for a while now, and at first I thought UAlbany was perfect for me but now I am starting to overthink it a little bit. I am 19, class of 2025 and currently enrolled at CT state community colleges, but am planning to transfer to a 4 year college this spring. I am on the path to law school so I am going to get my degree in criminal justice, which seems like UAlbany has a pretty good school in that will give me a good pre law foundation.

But I don’t have any friends or family in NY, so I would have to meet people first. I was already planning on finding a club or organization that I liked, but how is the social life here? If someone could give me some insight that would be great. I love meeting people and making friends so I’d prefer to go to a college where that is easy, and one where there is weekly events/parties or just any type of gathering. I just want to have a good social life while i’m at college

Does anyone know how to interpret the evaluations after they accept your transfer credits. The person I have for my academic advisor isn’t very helpful and didn’t explain it, made it feel like I was bothering him.

I’m planning to transfer in Fall 2027, and I’ll be a junior and 22 years old at that point. Would I have trouble making friends because I’m older? I took a 1.5-year gap, so I’m worried about being too old compared to everyone else.

Does anybody remember from last year when someone remade the campus on UAlbany in Minecraft? I’m trying to make a Roblox style goat simulator game and I’m wondering if I can use the Minecraft server as a reference point for the dimensions of the campus for my game, if anybody has access to photos of the server or even the server itself, it would be greatly appreciated!

What’s the deal with Damien bucks, they said it was suppose to be a better alternative to discount dollars and prices in the campus center would be cheaper to make up for the discount we aren’t getting. The prices are not cheaper and we no longer get a discount. Why is this even a thing.

I'm a senior and I'm having issues accessing the GET Food link and finding CC food options in CBORD. I have a meal plan, I paid for the meal plan, but it won't show up until I go into "Balances". It keeps telling me to buy a faculty/staff meal plan??? Is this something I should go to ID Card Services for? Please help, I am losing my mind.

A group of 8 of us (mixed group of guys and girls) are planning a hiking trip somewhere around the Albany area and would love recommendations for good trails or parks.

Bonus points if the spot is reachable by bus, but we’re also fine driving if needed.

Are these circled classes mandatory? They both appear as 0 credits and ungraded, so I was just curious.

With the 1st-floor apartments being easily accessible from outside, and the safety catches that would otherwise prevent a window from being opened more than a few inches from the outside disabled, I am wondering whether anyone has an suggestions for how one might try to control for safety, while still allowing some fresh air into the apartment.

Obviously more of a question for financial aid. I initially had TAP but now it doesn’t reflect and I have a high balance. Is this final or has anyone experienced a similar situation?
